Last week we were at the Beach Club and based on what I had learned here I was excited for a dairy free shake. So I went into the carryout area at Beaches and Cream. It was not busy (only 1 person ahead of me). I ordered my two normal shakes and asked about a dairy free option. Well, the guy working the register said he had no idea and he would go find out. So off he went to the back. He was gone almost 5 minutes. In this time a line behind me started. The guy making the shakes desserts had overheard me and said it was no problem he had everything and asked if I needed it made in the back for other allergies. I said no, I was fine otherwise. So he left to go get the Rice Dream. This is where it got "interesting".

He came back and so did the other guy. The one making it did my first 2 shakes and then went to work on mine. Well the Rice Dream was frozen SOLID. He could not scoop it. At this point there are 3 groups waiting behind me. We watched this poor guy struggle to make my shake for 5 minutes. At one point the Rice Dream flew out of the container and skidded across the counter so he had to go get another container. I felt so bad for the people waiting behind me but they were really sweet and we actually all felt so bad for the guy making it. I even told him to not worry, it was OK, I could cancel it so I did not hold anyone up any longer but the people in line said no!

I really never thought my dairy free shake would cause so many issues but I was glad I got it. It was yummy. Now to find where sells Rice Dream around here (I can't seem to find anything but Lactaid and I don't like it that much)

That made me laugh! Thanks! I can picture the Rice Dream flying across the counter.

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They have Rice Dream. The closest one to me is 45 minutes away, so I am planning on asking Bi-Lo down the road to order it for my son along with some other allergy friendly products that I have to go to Whole Foods to buy. He has over 20 allergies.

Wal-Mart has the least costly Rice Dream ( and also soy and almond milk). Costco also carries Rice Dream in cases for a very low cost. Publix carries it too- both stores are in very close proximity to WDW and I've heard that WalMart will deliver. I know this won't help for making shakes at Disney, but if you wanted the product itself, they've got it!

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen it at either of my Walmarts or Publix. Costco is as far as away as WF or even farther from me. But that gave me the idea to ask Walmart to order it too.

But at least you know when you find it you can stock up. It apparently freezes well.

Thawing is another matter entirely ;).
