When you go to a beach or on an excursion on your own, what do you do about beach towels? I know that when you book through Disney, they provide towels. Do you have to bring your own from home? I hate the thought of having to pack, and not to mention, WASH towels on the ship!! What do most people do?

DCL provides small bath towel sized towels for any DCL excursion booked. You will pick them up at your designated meeting place. You can take more than one.

If you are doing an excursion on your own, you can take towels from the pool area on Deck 9 for your use (just make sure you bring them back!!)

On Castaway Cay day, there will be big bins of towels for your use at the beach that day.

I prefer full sized beach towels, so I usually bring my own or purchase one of the beautiful DCL ones that they sell in the shops.....they run about $20-$22 each.

We hang our own towels out on the veranda to dry or over the couch to dry. I try not to get them soaked!!!

Here is a link to some of the DCL towels they sell onboard that I took pics of...there are also several more styles that they sell and each year they come out with a dated towel. There are also pics of other souvies that you buy onboard that are on that link.

I had talked to a friend who suggested that we take towels form the pool area, but I didn't know if that was acceptable. I also prefer a full size towel and have two DCL towels from our last cruise. I may pack those. I guess I can also use the Castaway Club gift towel! I just thought of that!!!!!!!!

I thought the same thing about the castaway club towel...the only problem was they did not put them out on our cruise until the 4th night so I ended up buying one at the pool tha twasa decent size.

I've read it's also a good idea to have at least one towel that is of a noticeable pattern/color/what have you so that when you come back ashore from that wonderful blue water and you're looking at a "sea" of lounge chairs covered with the same towels from the ship, you can find yours easily.
:cheer2:

DCL has no problem with you taking towels from the pool area as long as you bring them back....they usually have a bin just inside or outside of the ship's doorway to throw your used towels in when you come back from shore.

When I'm on the cruise I don't need anything "extra" in my bags that isn't absolutely necessary. I'd rather use their towels, and take an extra for each person if it's too small for your taste, then to take up extra room in my suitcase or have wet towels around the room. It is so convenient to just drop the towels in the bin when re-boarding the ship.

But do make sure to bring all the towels back to the ship!

::yes:: I agree with you 100%

So, if I'm doing my own excursion to Atlantis, I can get some towels from around the pool? Are these towels larger, or simply bath size? I guess I could also just use the towels in the hotel room, couldn't I?? Duh!?

I took two towels last year. We only used them on Castaway Cay and one excursion. It was nice to have a larger towel, but I think the amount of space it took up in my luggage was quite large. The only plus was they were pretty light. I probably will take them

The ones at the pool are perhaps half the bath size..Quite tiny actually. We asked our room steward, and he handed us a few large sized ones... :)

Hey do u guys think they will do the same for the West Coast Cruise?
I prefer to use there towels but I am not sure if they will have them,
for us to use since were not going to Castaway Cay.
I guess I can wait to here what the first Disney "West Coast" cruisers
say when they return from the May cruise. :)
Any suggestions?

If you are going on any non-disney excursions, just take some from the pool area in the morning before you go.

I am sure DCL will provide towels on all their excursions....

They may or may not have bins of towels to take from at the other ports...sometimes they do, sometimes they don't!!
