Beach resort recommendations

Would anyone be kind enough to suggest a beach resort to spend a few days away from the buzz of Disney, to break it up for my family while we are in florida.We have two 18yr old boys who love to chill and shop for sports wear.We do not have a large budget but it will be so great because they have agreed to come with us but equally they do not want to spend the whole time at Disney ( while we would happily spend the three weeks in the parks.)
Also I am looking for a well priced suite/ 2 bedrooms around Disney, any good ideas. We do not have loads to spend at the minute.

daytona beach is good plenty of things to do and see

We personally like the west coast best.

We have stayed at St. Pete's Beach at the Sirata Hotel, about 1 hour 30 mins from Disney - http://www.sirata.com/

We didn't leave the hotel to explore so can't tell what is around there.


We have also stayed at the Hilton at Longboat Key, about 2 hours from Disney - http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/SRQHIHF-Hilton-Longboat-Key-Beachfront-Resort-Florida/index.do

10 minutes down the road at Lido Key is St. Armands Circle with a lot of shops and restaurants - http://www.starmandscircleassoc.com/

About 15 mins away in Bradenton is a Bowling Alley.

There was also a really nice restaurant right on the beach called the Beach House - http://www.beachhouse-restaurant.com/


We will definitely visit both places again!

we are looking at staying for a night or so after our wedding, you might want to try travel republic for quotes as they seem to come up cheaper than expedia, lastminute etc

I just grabbed Sirata Beach club on Hotwire during Easter week for $96.00 a night.

Clearwater is a lovely beach and the sea is warmer on the west side of Florida, but there is not much else to do around there (though Busch Gardens is close, most teenagers woudl love that!)!

I would recommend staying at Sunset Vistas on the gulf coast at Treasure Island.
