Beach Recommendations Sought

Can anyone tell me where I can find a pretty white sand beach that is not too far from Orlando?

In May my family is staying at BWV, and we would like to spend the last day or two of the trip at a nice beach. We are looking for something with white sand, the occasional sea shell for our three year old to collect, and preferably not too overcrowded (I know, good luck!). We know that the logical answer might be Vero Beach, but we would prefer not to spend points to stay there on this trip.

Any advise on where to start looking would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Clearwater is another choice. The sand is like sugar. There is a doubletree resort that is right on the beach if I remember correctly.

We like to go a little further south and stay at St. Pete Beach. The Tradewinds resort there is absolutely beautiful. They have everything from hotels rooms to 2-bedrooms w/kitchen. They also have a wonderful children's program. It is a bit more expensive than a regular hotel but we think that it is well worth it.

May I suggest Cocoa Beach?

Cocoa Beach is undergoing a beach reclaimation. Actually from Satelite beach to Canaveral. When we were there 3 weeks ago, the beach that formerly was 30 feet wide was now 150 feet wide. This was in Cocoa Beach. It's nice....spruce
