Beach quality at Vero Beach

I guess for us, if VB Resort (obviously not called VB) was on the gulf side-we would be all over it.

I'd be right there with you! Before our foray into WDW we loved to go to Captiva in Feb. It still hold a great fondness in my heart.

We purchased VB for the flexibility of the DVC system, Ocean front, activities, and architecture of the resort.

:lmao: WOW look at that rough wild ocean!! Watch out for the kids!:rotfl2:

That picture was probably taken around 6:30am. Trust me, the water is rough, at least it was when we were there, and you also have to be very careful of the riptides.

Here are some pics of the waves during the day:

This is my DS who just finished riding a wave, and didn't have a chance to get up before the next wave broke on him....

This is my little guy coming back after deciding the water was not being nice to him....

This is where he was happiest.....

Thank you so much for the pictures!! The sunrise pictures are wonderful!

We bought 150 VB after our first VB stay, which was 4 nights in a GV inn room. DH isn't even a beach person, but he was so relaxed there. He enjoys VB so much more than our CM house, probably because he's not called on to do repairs there:rotfl:

I think I would like HH as well. I've tried the west coast of Florida many times, but I prefer the ocean side much much more. VB confirmed it for me.

Probably closer to 6:00 am. Yes it can get rough.

Here is a photo from last August the day before the storm Ernesto was to arrive. Best waves I have ever had... No children in that day. After a couple hours I was completely spent from fighting to get on the backside of the waves. Mother nature humbles you.

Personally, when I think beach, I want some waves. If I want to swim in calm water, I go to a freshwater lake or a pool. If I want to swim in the ocean, I want some waves to play in. Plus, there is nothing more calming and relaxing about sitting on the beach than listening to the crash of the waves. That is the real ocen to me. I rented a place on the beach on the bay side of Cape Cod one year and was bored silly. Sand was nice, and water was a little warmer, but swimming was boring, and it just didn't sound like the beach to me. I have never been to the west side of FL, but I suspect it would be similar. Give me VB anyday.

As for the beach itself, yeah VB is a little narrow, but it is rarely too crowded and easy to carve a spot out without someone else right on top of you. Besides, who cares if the beach is 1/4 mile wide? I don't want to set up my spot 1/4 mile from the water, I want to be right next to it! Sand "quality" isn't the best, but I don't see what the big deal about sand is anyway. It's not like it's gravel or something, just not powdery either.

As you can figure, I think the beach at VB is just fine. And you can't beat the proximity of the resort to the beach and ocean. Someone with a good arm could literally throw a rock into the ocean from an oceanside inn room, and a kid could do it from a beach cottage. That's where VB's real stregth is.

I can't agree with you more! :thumbsup2

I think the waves is what makes a beach a beach. The 1st time I ever went to a beach on Cape Cod, I was disappointed. I may as well been at a fresh water pond, for all the waves were doing. So, yes, the bigger the waves, the better.

I also agree on the width of the beach. I don't need to trudge through anymore beach sand than I have to, so the narrower the beach, the better.

I bought Vero Beach sight unseen. No regrets. We love it.:woohoo:

Ditto!

My husband and I purchased at Vero Beach site unseen. I Loved it. I really did not care much about seeing it because I knew that I could travel between properties. I have never had a problem not being able to make a reservation when I needed. Except for a shortage of points occassionally.

Yep, that's how it looked (for the OP), we are not big on salt water-lots of fresh water lakes up here-in the summer anyway. Nice pic.

I prefer the "wild-ness" of VB to the gulf shores. I agree with many of the previous posters: I like my beach to have WAVES! You can actually boogie board or body surf at Vero. Also, I prefer the presence of seashells to white powder sand.

We  VB!
