We are considering extending our trip to stay 2-3 nights at a beach near Orlando. East or west coast doesn't matter, but I have 2 DSs ages 17 & 12, who love the ocean. I'm looking for a great oceanfront resort with a great beach and at least efficiency accomodations. Any ideas????

We don't want to travel more than about 2-3 hours one way.

I don't like the Ocean side. but Daytona, Coca Beach are both around an hour away.

I like the gulf side - Tampa side - Clearwater Beach has some very nice places...

but if they want the Ocean side - St Augustine also falls inside your range - as far down as Vero beach - so you have a good section to pick from.

Disney has a place on Vero Beach.

a nice beach on the Atlantic side does not exist until you get Ft Lauderdale/Miami.... (my opinion)

I like my beaches white not brown....

We've stayed in Daytona Beach- didn't like the area that much. We thought it was okay for a day trip- but we wouldn't stay there again.

We also preferred the Gulf Side. I'd opt for St. Pete's Beach or Clearwater.

Two years ago we went to Cocoa Beach for a few nights because we went to Kennedy Space Center. In all honesty, the beach was a disappointment. It was June and the beach was smelly. There are not many shells on the ocean side either. But if you want to do KSC (which we loved), then maybe the ocean side would work for you.

I agree with the other posters, I much prefer the gulf side. It's been years but a place that was really nice is Anna Maria Island south of the St. Pete area. Fantastic shelling and white sand beaches. Clearwater also has some nice beaches. Sorry I can't recommend a place to stay. We used to stay with family when they lived there.
