Beach Location Question

We got married at the WP Beach at 5pm on May 5th last year. I never did finish my trip report...maybe some day! Here are some pics from a couple of angles...sorry they are so large. There is a grassy area that you could choose if you didn't want sand. They actually had it set-up there for our rehearsal, but it's horrible Florida itchy grass.

The whole set-up...

Juat wanted to add that even though it is the same cost as the WP, you also have to add the cost for a sound system and engineer. I don't think we paid anything for the chairs or the table. We could have paid to cover them or change them, but we decided that since people were going to sit on them and cover it anyway, what was the point? We added Tiki Torches and a couple small arrangements (that were transferred to our head table) and that was it for decor. My family stopped me at Pink Flamingos. :confused3

Couple of other things...they supplied a small water table off to one side which was very necessary as it was quite hot. Not a great location for a long ceremony. We were done in less than 15 minutes and the boys were dying in their kilts. They kept the guests and the boys in Franck's until it was time for us to head over and then they moved them out, but everyone was still outside for probably 45 minutes or so.

It is quite a long walk from the pathway to the waterside and (this will seem silly) but very sandy. There are some "deep" sand areas and some that you can just walk on top...weird transitions. The boys wore regular shoes and the girls wore flip flops, which seemed like a better plan over bare feet. This might be too much info, but we found that the flips flops just flung sand up our legs which just stuck to the sweat on our legs, especially mine under my big dress.

That's all I can think of right now. Feel free to ask any questions!

So, are these beach sites (WP beach, GF Beach and Shipwreck Beach) only available to Wishes weddings and not Escape weddings? I love, love, love the idea of the WP beach!! :beach: But, I think we're probably going to go with an Escape wedding... too many mouths to feed around our household! :crowded:

For Escape brides I think we are limited to the five ceremony locations offered by Disney. Sunset Pointe is probably the closest option to a beach wedding. :beach:

Scottish/Canadian,

Thanks so much for posting pictures. They are BEAUTIFUL!! I really love that location!

No problem! I had been going to for a while, just never got around to it. It was even better than it looks in the pics. We were nervous about the WP as the rain location as we HATE it...and unless we wanted to pay, there was no decor added. We lucked out and no rain!

Hi Shannon,

Why is the sound system and engineer needed? Is it really hard to hear? Did you provide the Tiki Torches or were you able to purchase through Disney? Are they able to be lit? In your pictures it looks like your tiki torches were lit. Were they with fire or battery operated? Was the beach clear of seaweed? :beach: Thanks!

Scottish/Canadian - Thanks for posting these pics. I'm having my Ceremony on the WP Beach! I'm so excited!!!:hyper:

I decided on this location once I realised I have good chance of rain due to my date. All the other outside locations have ballrooms as their backups.

Do you mind me asking, how much is the sound system? Did you opt to use the sound system instead of a muscian?

And another cost to remember is also the chair rental when considering this location.

When I go for my PS next month I'm going to ask my Planner what we can do in the case of rain for floral. Not add anything, but if I get something like the tiki torches or something beachy, I want to make sure It's not used in the WP in case it doesn't match.0

I'm going to try on my wedding dress today:blush:
but later today or tomorrow, I'll post pics my planner sent me. My pics are messed up in my PJ right now.

The rain issue was what helped us pick between Yacht & Beach and here. Yes, it was a good chunk more money, but if we did have to move inside the options were bad...either an empty ballroom, or pay for things that we may never see. We hate the WP but whatev.

The Tiki Torches were through my planner and were $576. They were lit like normal. If moved inside, they apparently had battery powered ones...and yes, I wonder how that would have looked. I really don't think we paid anything for chair rental. Just looked through our final invoice and I'm pretty sure it was included in the $2500 for the location (same as WP).

The beach was clear...I hate seaweed.

The audio package was $785 and we needed it because we wanted to play a CD. We had a bagpiper as well but clearly he didn't need anything - just an added FYI...if you've been to EPCOT Canada and seen Off Kilter...Jamie was our piper. It was pretty cool to have him there as I worked in the Pavilion and used to see them all the time.

Just found all my papers in my email and wanted to 100% confirm what it cost us last year...

WP Beach - $2500 + tax
Bagpiper Plus Guest CD - $550 (no tax)
Audio Package - $785 (no tax)
Tiki Torches - $576 (no tax)

Hope this helps!

Omg i thought this too we were just down there two weeks ago and since we are having a summer wedding the planner totally talked us in to the WP cuz it will be 90 degrees and our pics will be all nasty cuz we'll be sweaty....so if your having in the summer just somthing to think about. but it really does look like a church....you have to go and look at it!!!

Beach first and then WP backup instead of a ballroom, this is sounding beter and better...:goodvibes I'm honestly not liking the WP because it resmebles a church and I want some thing very different than a church wedding but that's just me.... but Wp would be better than a plain ballroom especially with a September wedding date!

I'd love some pics!!! Thanks for your help

It's so weird to see my old posts! You actually quoted me from a while ago before I went for my site visit! I get that it will be really hot, but our time is 5pm and I'm trying to keep our Ceremony short. I picked the beach because WP is my back-up. I like the WP, but I would really like an outside wedding more.

OK, here are the pix I took of Shipwreck Beach a few days ago, plus one of my old pix thrown in for reference...

So "YAY" I found pictures of Shipwreck Beach. I guess I had to read further down for the search results. Someone mentioned above the Grand Floridian Beach....NOT the one located next to the Wedding Pavilion.

Are wedding ceremonies allowed to happen there? Does anyone have pictures of the Grand Floridian beach? Thanks!
