beach help- tampa, clearwater area

We are going to be in the Tamp/ Clearwater/ St. Pete area for a day and would like to hang out at the beach (for free, of course.) Can anybody direct us where to go? The name of the beach, how to get there, and where to park? Thanks!

HoneyMoon Island state park. Wonderful beach. Nice restroom/bathhouse, café, can rent chairs, bikes, umbrella's. Cost is $7 a car load.

Madeira Beach has 3 lots on Gulf Boulevard for public beach access. There are lots of different areas between St Pete and Clearwater for public beach access and most have parking close.

I really like Clear Water beach.

Clearwater is great for this. They have wonderful facilites. Park between Frenchys rockaway grill (several Frenchys in the area so make sure it's this one) and the pavilion restaurant. Both of these are great places to eat as well. The only problem with all the public spots further down the beach (Indian rocks, belair, etc) most of them don't have restrooms. If you do Clearwater though be there no later than 1030 or it will be difficult to find a parking spot
