Beach Club, Yacht Club, Grand Floridian - what would you choose?

Hi all,

We are currently booked in to the Yacht Club for 7 nights next year, and are looking to extend our trip by two nights. We are trying to choose between Yacht Club (but we’d have to move our dates around for availability purposes), Beach Club, and the Grand Floridian. We’ve stayed at BC and the GF before, and liked both, but BC has the slight edge for us. That said, if we can get the GF for a similar price, I’m not sure what to do.

Does anyone know how the Yacht Club compares to Beach Club? I’m not sure if I should just move my whole stay over to BC but we did want to try YC out having not stayed there before.

Also, would people opt for a standard view or garden view for these resorts? It’s working out around $200 extra for our trip to upgrade to garden view and I’m just not sure if it’s worth it!

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!

If it's only for 2 additional nights, I would try to stay at YC. It seems as if 2 nights just doesn't give you much opportunity to enjoy the second resort (only one full day at it, check-in and check-out days are just too rushed).

If extending the stay at YC is not possible, I would opt for a total change of scene and go with the GF. Then, I would plan my Epcot/HS days around the YC stay and the MK days around the GF stay.

The YC is very much like the BC - two sides of the same resort IMO. However, the differences that we like at the YC are:

YC is first bus pick up and drop off
YC rooms almost all have full balconies
YC lobby is closer to the boat dock
YC has a quieter, more elegant atmosphere.

It is worth trying it out to see how you feel. You may find that you lie it better than the BC or not as much, but at least you will know.

Oh, I would try to get the GF for three nights, if possible, and stay at the YC for one night less (6 nights). If not I would stay the 7 in YC and 2 in the GF. Then you get to experience the best of both the MK and Epcot areas.

Whether or not a view is 'worth it' is so subjective, it is hard to say. WE like garden view when we have a balcony and are going for a more resort focused trip. If doing the theme parks intensively, then the view is less important and we are fine with a standard view. Sometimes availability of a discount in one view or another decides for us. I don't often choose to spend a lot more $$$ for a view. If we have a standard room, we enjoy the view by going outside to the beach or pool areas.

I think I would do as another poster suggested and drop a night at YC and add a night at GF. Beach Club is full full full of kids. Stayed there many times.

Yacht Club...and I've only ever stayed at Beach. Yacht seems a bit more "classier"? Or maybe just more expensive, lol

YC is my favorite resort of all the deluxe ones and I've stayed in all except WL. We stopped staying at the MK resorts about 15 years ago since Epcot is our favorite park and you can't beat the Epcot resorts for walking distance. I'd just stay at YC. As far as view, I always just get a standard view. Through the years of staying there I've never had a bad view.

My vote would be Yacht Club with a few days at the Grand Floridian if it's an option - you get the best of both locations then.

I love YC. I love the new room design and I find it to be less chaotic than BC. That being said, if you are planning on 9 nights, I would consider a 4 and 5 night split between YC and GF to take advantage of the proximity to 3 parks.

I’d pick GF, but I totally agree with @DisneyWishes14 and do a split stay! We did BC and Poly this summer and it was great being close to Epcot & HS the first half and then MK the 2nd!!! Good luck deciding!!
