I read somewhere here that one family said they left bc & went through Epcot & hopped on monorail to magic kingdom to avoid waiting for bus. How long of a walk is it to epcots monorail from bc?

From BC exit doors to monorail is about 4,800 feet, about 9/10's of a mile.

This is how my husband likes to travel to MK from the Epcot resorts. He just does not love the buses. For us, if we were doing MK rope drop, it was best to take the bus straight there. Then on our way back around lunch, we would take the monorail to Epcot and walk through, maybe grabbing lunch. We find some modes of transportation to be fun since we are from around detroit where public/mass transit just isn't something we're really used to.

We do that all the time unless we are in a rush to get to MK. Having a double jogger for so many years, it was easier and more fun for us to walk through Epcot to catch the monorail. However, if we're in a rush, then we'll take a bus.

Even at a pretty fast pace, walking to the monorail from BC is 20 minutes. You have to enter Epcot at International Gateway. Exit at front of park and go up ramp to monorail platform. Then you get to TTC. You still have to get to MK by boat or monorail. Totally fun, but not quick, and unlikely to be quicker than bus to MK from BC. The bus takes less than ten minutes once you are on. Wait for bus varies but bus will still be quicker.

Just thought I would mention that you need a park hopper to do this.

From the BC to the monorail platform I would say 20-25 or so minutes.

And if you are trying to make rope drop it obviously doesn't work because you need to rope drop Epcot first. We did what the previous poster said when we stayed at BC one year, we bussed there in the morning but rode the monorail to Epcot later in the day and strolled back through the park to BC, stopping in Canada or UK for a snack or drink or to listen to music.

It's a pretty far walk, IMHO. I'd probably only do it if I were in Epcot already and wanted to hop to MK. You have to walk through half of World Showcase, through all of Future World to the monorail platform which is beyond the bag check. Then when you arrive, you have to switch monorails at TTC to get to MK. I'd think it's faster and easier to take the bus as the main mode of transportation, and use this only to kill time or if you are in Epcot already.

You walk through the UK and Canada from the IG.

We've done it before, but only because I want a black n tan from Rose & Crown and my wife wants a Grey Goose slushie from France.

Certainly more walking and more time, but it would save time over sitting down at a counter service and eating a burger and fries if you opt to eat and drink on the move.

Yes. My point was that it involves some walking through the WS - it's not as though the entrance were in the middle of the two areas.

This is what we like to do too. Taking the bus to MK is quicker than walking through Epcot and taking the monorail. But we like strolling through Epcot on the way back, maybe stoping for an attraction or two and something to eat and drink (especially during Food & Wine.)

We went that exact route over spring break. It's good exercise and if you have a little one in a stroller it is a great time for a nap because you don't have to fold the stroller.
