If BCV isn't available at my 7 month window for next summer what's your best advice for a waitlist? Can you choose 2 bedroom, 2 bedroom dedicated, or 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queens? A lock off wouldn't be a deal breaker, but not my preference. Are they easier to get?

New question - Ok how about January? Is BCV super popular in January? My kids really want to stay there for Stormalong Bay, but is it too cold to use it in January? We stayed at SSR this past January and the congress park pool was nice and heated. How about SAB?

I was able to get a dedicated at 5 months (For June), but not the one with 2 queens. That one never came through for me.

My gut feeling that it's easier to get the lock off, and if you get that, then waitlist for the dedicated. If you have to waitlist, I would for a lockoff and for just "dedicated." I think that the one with 2 queens probably already has a waitlist by the time 7 months comes around. Just my feeling, of course!

We have stayed at BCV every summer for the past five years & have never had to use the waitlist.

Our home resort is SSR & we've always gotten a room at the 7 month mark. Now this past June we had a 2BR lockoff, but we'd requested that. We've never wanted a 2BR dedicated.

I'm curious what you like about the lock off better? Does it feel bigger?

We like the extra door. For example, this past June, we had DD16 & her BFF in the studio room. They liked the extra door so that they could come & go as they please. They also liked having their own fridge & kept water bottles in there. This way, when they were up watching tv late at night, they could help themselves without disturbing DS13, who was sleeping on the pullout in the kitchen area.

That actually does make a lot of sense. We will have my parents with us and that way my dad who gets up around 4am could make coffee in his own room. Do the studios have internet? If so he could use his laptop in the early morning hours too without disturbing anyone else.

Yes, DD16 had her laptop with her & the girls were on Facebook every evening. They hook it up somehow....although i have no idea how. It's free for DVC members staying on points.

And yes, about the coffee, one time we had my parents staying in the studio side, & my dad got up early & made his own coffee in their room every morning.

That's great news. It never even occurred to me to have a studio for my parents rather than just a bedroom. Our trip starts at Jambo which is already booked as a lock off!!! I'm thinking about switching out the treehouse for the second part of our split stay for possibly BCV since we've never stayed there.

The dedicated with the queen and sleeper sofa and the lock-offs are the most likely to come through. I don't know which is easier, but I know there are less dedicated with 2 queens than anything else.

If your parents will be in the other room, I would think a lockoff would be preferred followed by a dedicated with the queen and sleeper. They won't need the two beds, and this way they'd have a couch and possibly a fridge of their own.

Thanks! It's always been somewhere my mom has wanted to stay since the 90s. I think the pool would be really fun for our kids too. They would probably also love hopping over to the BWV pool too.

BCV is always our first choice. Our last few trips I did not book at the 7 month window and was unable to get a room there in May or June. I intend to call exactly at the 7 month window this year and hope we will be lucky!:thumbsup2

We were on waitlist for our trip next month and it did come through! I cannot wait to be back at the BVC!!!:yay:

I have never had a problem getting in the BCV at my 7 month window. However when it gets shorter like 5 month sometimes I have had to waitlist for a studio. You can see what months we are there by my Signature. We love yhe BCV. We hang out by the pool then throw something over our swim suits and take a walk over to Epcot just to walk around.

I called right on our 7 month window last year and was able to get BCV for the week of the 4th of July - I was honestly a little shocked, I didn't think we would get it! We got a lockoff and I waitlisted for the dedicated 2BR, which never came through. We had our 4 kids in the second bedroom and they're still young enough that I prefer not to have the second door, etc. but with adults in the second bedroom I think that would have been a better option.

:wizard: bump..new question in first post!

How popular is BCV in January? Is SAB too cold to swim? Have you swam in SAB in January if the weather is around 32 degrees?

I believe SAB refurbishments are done around that time, but that the entire pool is never closed at once, but rather broken down (into thirds I think) so that there is always part of the pool open.

As to your question about the weather....we've been to WDW several times in January & there's always been a couple warm days where the kids could swim, but even my kids won't get in when it's really chilly outside.

I don't bother with going to BCV in January. We booked our first all family BCV stay one November, and for the 5 days, we went in the pool twice, and we were the only family using SAB most of the time we were in it. DH's birthday is the 17th, so right around the middle of the month. I'm also sure that there are Novembers that have wonderful swimming weather. I really don't think that there are many perfect swimming days in January, however.

Thanks guys I had a feeling it wasn't the best idea. The pool is so big and parts deep right? I figure it's much harder to keep warm then the small pool at Congress Park. My oldest daughter wants a "surprise" trip to WDW possibly rather than her Bday trip for Spring Break 2013. I was trying to figure out a week before her bday as a surprise but the weather isn't so great in Jan/Feb. :confused3

I was able to get a dedicated 2bedroom with two queen beds in the 2nd bedroom at 7 months for August. So there is hope.

I also like the lockoff because it has a second DVD player located in the second bedroom. My kids are ages where it sometimes helps to have two movie choices. Best wishes!
