My MIL very kindly is treating us; a family of 4 to a disney vacation this May. I wanted to do it later on this year or even next year but she wants it sooner (think afraid of passing away before getting the chance to go, as she is 85 years old) she asked me for 3 different dates and preferred resorts to go/stay, which I told her last week of April, first week of May or first week of June. As far my preferred resorts I said GF, CR or the poly since all are in MK resort and on monorail.

She came up to me after speaking with her travel agent and bit the bullet to book the trip from May 4th to 9th but all of the preferred resorts is booked out. TA recommended the Beach club resort so thats where we're staying at. She booked a room for herslelf & my FIL, another room for us 4 and single room for my mom. My kiddos are small; almost 3 (will be in June) and 5 months old at the time of trip.

My only concerns with that resort is it's far from MK, and not on the monorail or is it?? Hit me up with tips and suggestions. How's the pool like there? Restaurants you recommend?? Etc

It's fabulous. You will be in good hands. You can walk or take a boat from your resort directly into Epcot and Hollywood studios.

The Epcot resorts have the best location if you plan to visit all 4 parks. The bus trip from the Beach Club to MK is not bad at all. We loved our stay at the Beach Club.

That's a really nice gift! You will love the beach club but the pool areas and access to DHS/Epcot do cater towards older kids.
If MK vicinity is important to you given your kids ages, I would highly recommend checking out the Wilderness Lodge.

Congratulations on your trip. We have stayed at Beach Club with our children. We do love it and its location. It is walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom is by bus. If you will be spending most of your time there then you may wish to check back from time to time for a monorail resort. That is the only down side for us too.
The pool is fantastic for all ages and there is a character buffet right there in the resort called Cape May Café. We have gone for breakfast there and have seen Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto. Kids loved it!!

We have stayed at the YC, which is attached to the BC and we love that area. We will be staying at BC this summer. No, you are not on the monorail. But you are in walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, which can't be beat in my opinion. Boat rides are also offered to both of those parks.

To MK and AK, you are looking at a bus ride. But we never had a problem getting to either park.

The pool at BC is Storm along Bay, which many will argue is the best pool on Disney property, so that's a win. :goodvibes

There are many restaurants in the area including all of the restaurants in World Showcase which are in walking distance. You may want to immediately start researching this, as most people boom their dining reservations 180 days out and being so close to your trip, you might find issues with availability.

We love the Epcot resorts! :cloud9:

You will love the Beach Club. The pool area is amazing and it is very convenient to get to Epcot and HS. You will need to take a bus to MK but that shouldn't be a big deal. We love breakfast at Cape May Cafe and I would strongly recommend that. If you have a day at Epcot where you are not rushing to hit attractions the second the park opens, I would recommend entering through IG before WS opens and slowly walking around the different countries and admiring the details. Obviously you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the attractions until they open but it is so relaxing walking in that area before it gets slammed for the day.

Unfortunately you will not be allowed to walk around World Showcase before it opens at 11:00. It is roped off and CM's are there to advise you. You can get to France for the bakery, and to Norway for breakfast, but no where else.

I agree with both of the above. The WL is a beautiful resort and convenient to MK via boat or bus, but if that resort doesn't appeal to you, I'd keep checking for a monorail resort as availability does change and something could open up for your dates. With that said, if you do stick with the BC, I'd highly recommend breakfast and dinner at Cape May. The atmosphere is nice, the buffet for both meals has a lot of variety, and the characters (breakfast only) are cute as they are dressed in beach wear. Have a great trip.

BC is great for strollers, at least to EPCOT and DHS. No need to take them out and fold up after Illuminations or Fantasmic-either walk or roll onto the boat.

Very good resort for ECV if needed, renters are very helpful and will bring them to BC for you and back.

The kids sand play area is great because adults can sit in the sand with them (if you want to).

We will just miss you- my family will be at Beach Club April 27-May 4 and I have 3 and 4 yo boys. You will love it- walk or boat to HS and Epcot- and the Boardwalk where there is nightly entertainment.

Maybe some helpful tips:
If you have hoppers you can walk through Epcot and take the monorail to MK. Takes a little longer but it's a nice change.

Cape May for a character breakfast is wonderful- must do for us.

The Bakery at the Boardwalk (very close to BC) has great desserts and Mac and Cheese- great option for our picky eaters.

Bc has a fire and roast marshmallows most nights followed by a disney movie on the beach-

I say leave the kids for one night and have dinner at Flying Fish on the Boardwalk just the two of you. Maybe do it when HS has late hours. Walk over there afterwards and be kids- ride the tower if terror and rock n roller coaster till you remember you are too old to do them- lol

Have Fun!

I have never stayed there, but we visit the Boardwalk every trip. I would LOVE to stay there. The location is perfect for DHS and EPCOT. Where we spend most of our time.

I think you are going to love it and have a fantastic trip. What a great MIL!

Enjoy!

BC is fabulous!! Yes, it's a bus ride to MK, however, even when my DS was younger (he's now 6), I began to prefer the EP resorts over the MK resorts. When he was younger, once we came back to the resort for the day and napped, rested or swam, I was never in the mood to go back on another form of Disney transport and get dinner, find entertainment, etc. And I would get tired of the same restaurants every night at the resort. At the EP resorts, the possibilities are endless! Simply put the kids in a stroller and go! TONS of restaurants including all of the restaurants in EP WS at your disposal, great pool, games and shows on the Boardwalk. So fun and relaxing and when you're done, you simply walk back to BC. Love it and that is now where we stay almost every trip!

For restaurants, try Kouzzina, Flying Fish, Il Mulino, blue zoo, really anything at BWI, BC/YC or Swan/Dolphin. Cape May Cafe has a great character breakfast!

It's fabulous!

this is extremely helpful advice! as that is the kind of inside info i'd like to know. Sounds like BC would serve us very nicely then, as i know myself & DH would soooo not be in the mood to go out again on another form of transportation just to find dinner and entertainment.

thank you for the ressie recs! I'll look into it. My only concern is since it isn't really that far off for us in terms of planning. Is it really hard to get reservations at this point? we're not really going all out, but do want some decent options as we have dining plus plan.

Your photos looked gorgeous! i love the fact it has a "beach" and boardwalk, pretty cool as we're shore people by jersey shore every summer. DS loves the boardwalk, so that alone will be a hit for him. I really like the beach feature, as i imagine it's very easy for me to put my 5 month DS2 old down on the sand and play.

ECV info is very helpful, as that may be a big neccesity for my elderly MIL. she is in great shape for being 85 years old, but it is still a lot of walking involved all the same.

I'm very tempted to do that, as my parents in law DID offer to postpone the trip until next Feb/March, but i'm bit leery to do that. MIL is getting on in age, and while she is pretty mobile right now, i can't say that for sure even 3,6 or even 9 months down the road. Part of me really wants to do this trip when both of my boys are bit older, and for myself to have more time to plan all the details out, LOL! but i really want to grant my MIL the magic of seeing her grandsons to experience disney, so im not gonna postpone or make the planning harder on her since it is on her dime.

DH & i already agreed to do another disney trip for just four of us, when our boys are older and for THAT trip we can pick the resort/details exactly the way we want to do. i'm gonna see this upcoming trip as a memory to share with my parents in law and trial run for the real thing next time :p

Need some help on which room area to request. We are 3 adults...would like to be close to that secret entrance to BC from Epcot (near room 1501?) but not right there. We would prefer a quiet area for when we are in our room away from the pool area, I guess or wherever it might be most active. We are hoping for a quiet week overall as I have not seen a lot on the Boards about people going that week. Thanks!:thanks:

As long as you keep on constantly checking, you can get almost anything. Now that all restaurants require the 24-hour cancellation, almost all restaurants are open the day before. I make last minute trips a lot since I'm just 2 hours north, and the only restaurant I don't really see open is Cinderella's Royal Table - even Ohana, Be Our Guest, and Chef Mickey's are doable, with BoG being the hardest.

I'm sure you'll have a great time, the Beach Club is really lovely and the pool is the best on property, IMO :goodvibes

We like the actual beach as well, little kids it may get too hot but the kids pool is on the beach so that may be a good spot as well.

Its on the left in the ship:

Go. The Epcot resort area is great and the weather in May is perfect. I have 3 young kids and they just love the whole area, the pools, the food, the space!

In 2012 we requested "close to Epcot, with a full balcony."

We got a room 2 floors above the secret entrance, with a balcony surrounded by pine trees...incredibly private, very quiet and just lovely!!!
