Beach Club Resort - Club Level closed? Being moved.

UPDATE:

So my situation has worsen. After talking with the WDW DRC folks, I was moved to Yacht club(which I have come to terms with).

What's NOT ok is the room category I was put in. I booked the Water View Club Level at beach club and after trying to dig what room type I was given at Yacht club, it was a Standard view room (facing a roof/parking lot). So now i'm fuming. The CM said they don't have an available room with Water view during my stay, but yet my phone call a few days ago said I was being given same room type.

I'm not sure what to do next but I replied to the initial email letting them know it was unacceptable. My ideal situation at this point is to get an equal or above room category of what i'm paying for.

That’s not right. They should put you in another hotel of equal or greater value. I’m lucky so far but I book this vacation in June of 2018 when the 2019 dates came out. I acted on this immediately when they called me.

I would wait until you get to the YC and talk to the manager if there is not an equal room available. There might be a water view available by then or perhaps be changed to a CL room at another resort.

I'm sorry to hear that. I would definitely hold out for a refund for the cost difference between the water view you paid for and the standard view you're getting. You paid for something you're not receiving due to their issue, so they have to refund that. If they don't, I'd contest it via my credit card company. However, with Disney I doubt it need go that far. Rather than email, I'd speak with someone on the phone. Keep your conversations with them calm and unemotional. Let go of your frustration about having to switch resorts and downgrade your view (water view probably really isn't available), and just focus on the need for a refund of the difference between the view you paid for and the view you're getting. That issue is crystal clear & Disney should make that right.

I feel for you having to switch. Some people love the refurbished rooms at Yacht Club, but we liked the old, whimsical rooms a lot better. I'd also prefer not to stay at one of the "dog resorts". We stayed club level at Beach Club last year and our room & the club lounge were in perfect condition, so I doubt there is anything wrong with all of the rooms the way a PP implied. The bright side is that the Yacht Club lounge is supposed to be very good. The Yacht Club lobby is elegant, and you still have Stormalong Bay. I hope you enjoy it!

Looks like to me in that time period the Poly, GF and Contemporary has club rooms available

Not that this is conclusive as to when it will start/end, but the two reports I have seen from DISers who have been contacted by Disney had 10/28 arrival dates. FWIW.
I talked to the Concierge at the BC tonight and the club level floor at the BC will be closed for refurbishment at the end of October. They have been doing work on all of the floors and this will be when they do the 5th floor.

FYI: some of the waterview rooms at YC look out over StormAlong Bay, but they also have a view of a roof below them. I stay at YC CL a lot & I would say about half the wv rooms have that type of view. It isn’t a bad view unless you look straight down. I don’t have access to my photos right now. But check the Y & B thread it the YC view thread for more info.

I’m sorry you get moved. But if there is no wv room, they really can’t displace someone else for you. They would need to refund the difference in what you paid. You can also see if they can give you a wv room on another floor & give you CL access. Not usually done, but this is an exceptional circumstance, so that might be a solution.

Yeah, that's not cool. If you booked BC CL, water view and they are putting you in YC CL, standard, I would ask them to refund you the difference in cost. Did you book a room-only or package? Did you book under a discount? If you aren't happy with the YC room they are offering you, perhaps try to modify the reservation you have to another resort/room category? I agree, they should offer you equal or better or refund the cost difference.

Are they changing the decor of the Beach Club rooms, or is it something more basic?

When this started in the summer, it was reported as an upgrade to the WiFi. That usually does entail getting into ceilings & wiring, so I can see where they need to close sections of the resort at a time. I haven’t read any reports of decor changes, so I don’t think there have been any. And it seems each floor is only affected for about 3 weeks. Not really enough time for major refurbs.

I think it's outrageous to notify you this late in the game. If they've downgraded your view, I'm sure they will refund the difference. They aren't going to charge you for something you did not get. It's my experience that the YC has always been slightly more than the BC CL, but that really depends on the dates and available discounts at the time of booking. They are very close in price most of the time. But the difference between water and standard view can be significant.
