Help! We will be there on Tuesday and I just got another email confirmation from Disney and noticed we have a King Sico Bed (WE). First, what is WE? Second, I kind of know what the Sico rooms are, but now I'm concerned. I didn't make a request for such a room. Could those of you who have stayed in one share your experiences? It's only 2 of us but I want to ask if the rooms are the same square footage. We booked a standard room and made a special request for a full balcony and a nice view of something other than a parking lot.

I'm kind of nervous now and any info would be appreciated. Perhaps if you had a nice one and loved it, can you give me the room number? Thanks!

I found this on allears:

What are the King Sico Rooms?

There are a few rooms at the BC called King Sico Rooms . These rooms have a king size bed that could potentially fold up into the wall (via housekeeping service). There is a small area with a love seat and coffee table; a sink and counter top; and a table and two small chairs. The one I stayed in (8/97) on the 1st floor had a double sink in the same room as the toilet and shower. The room itself is smaller than the regular rooms, but very comfortable for 2 adults. One of the advantages is the slightly lower nightly room rate.

The 'WE' part is just an internal code they use.

I had a similar question in April when I noticed my reservation change. It wasn't a change to a King Sico Room but we did have an alpha code at the end of the room type that made me wonder what it meant.

I called CRO and they just said it was their internal code system that didn't have anything to do with the type of room. I'm not sure if that's true or not but wanted to tell you what I found out.

Thanks for the info. Has anyone stayed in these rooms and been okay with it??? I called this morning to change it to a standard room with 2 queen beds or a regular King room and they said that nothing was available and what happened is at the time we booked that was all that was left at the passholder rate. What I'm upset about is I wasn't told this or given the choice to decline and pck another resort.

If anyone has experienced one of these rooms, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks

The "WE" was simply an internal code. I'll be "WA" might mean water view? Not sure...

What I want to know is if these sico rooms are awful. Are the mattresses the same, etc. This situation is really starting to upset me. I didn't ask for a King room, especially a Sico and I wasn't told at booking that this is what I was booking. I didn't receive an email confirmation until last night for this room. Long story - we started with the Poly but switched to the BC when the AP rates came out. But, I kept the same ressie # so I didn't worry about it when I didn't receive another confirmation. Then, PRESTO! last night I got the confirmation and was hit with this Sico mess.

I've called and they say there is nothing else available and when I booked that was all there was at the passholder rate.

Oh well - I guess I'm stuck with it or I can switch to the Swan. I checked and there are AP rates at the Swan for our dates. Thing is, at the Swan you definitely don't get a balcony.....not sure what to do. I guess I'll just hope and pray it won't be a bad thing. I've read that the rooms are slightly smaller and of course the bed comes out of the wall. YUK. I'm just beside myself here.

Help!

I don't understand your statement about the Swan not having a balcony. I definitely had a balcony at the Swan. I was on the wing closest to the walkway to MGM, but on the resort side, not the waterway side, and we had a balcony--it's not a large one, and they are close to the next one, but we had one.

Oh!! Let me ask you this then - do you pay extra for the balcony?

Nope. I'm poor!!! :goodvibes We were in a room that looked back towards the resort, the Swan pool, etc. If we looked to the right we could see the long awning coming out from the Dolphin past the boat launch. Think of it as an inverted "U" shape. Every room on the inside of the "U" had a balcony. I wish I had pictures to show you. The only way I can describle the area is this: if you're standing at the Dolphin exit where the clamshell fountain is, you have to look directly across and you'll see balcony rooms at the Swan. Hope this helps, and so sorry you're stressed about the BC. By the way, we had a Sico bedroom at the Dolphin once, and it was great! the bed was quite comfy--I think some of the suites at the Dolphin have the King sico beds.

We stayed in one on our honeymoon in 1994-our first time ever at the BC. Because we hadn't experienced any other room there up til that point, it seemed just fine to us. The bed stayed down the entire time and actually, the room "seemed" bigger to us w/ just the one bed. There was a couch and a coffee table as well as the armoire and dresser. We had a view of SAB that was slightly obstructed w/ a roof just below us. We did not have a balcony-just that little platform you can walk out on. I do remember it being brighter than any rooms we stayed in after that trip-probably the way the sun came in-it did seem to have more windows???:goodvibes Again, this is 13 yrs ago and back then I was not an avid photographer :rotfl: so I don't have very many pictures to refer to... I personally liked the room and would stay there again if I didn't have kids with us :thumbsup2

Here's the area I'm talking about. the inside of these wings have balcony rooms

I'm feeling a little better about this...a little. Maybe it won't be so bad. DH said we would go, see what it is like and if we are really and truly unhappy we'll talk to the manager and see if he can do anything to help us. I'll just enjoy the fact that I'm able to stay at the BC, enjoy Stormalong Bay and Disney. Heck, I could be over at All Stars in one of those tiny beds.

So what am I worried about? :confused3

I stayed in one back in the 90's. I do not remember room number or view or anything. I DO remember loving the room and the resort. I would take one again in a heartbeat!!! It was just beautiful, bed was awesome and everything was great.:goodvibes
Please do not stress too much and ruin your anticipation. The resort is great and does not have any hidden awful rooms!!!:wizard:
Youre going to Disney!!!! Don't let anything ruin that for you! Have a wonderful time!!:yay:

Thank you for your reply. I'm feeling better! You're right. What's the worst that can happen? I'm at Disneyworld.

PamNC,

I think you're doing the right thing by checking it out first. I freaked when our reservation changed and it ended up being the best room ever.

I hope it has the best view you've ever experienced and is quantly romantic.

Enjoy your trip!

By the way, LOTS of rooms at the Swan have no balcony. And the balcony rooms are definitely more expensive, though the previous poster could have been upgraded to one without realizing it. I love the Swan, but the windows in the non-balconied rooms don't open and that drives me crazy, so unless I KNOW I am getting a room w/balcony (i.e., not counting on an upgrade), I won't stay there.

Hi,

I also stayed in a King Sico room on my honeymoon. It was on the first floor and I loved that it opened to a patio facing the voleyball area. We did have the bed up sometimes and it made the room very spacious.
