This is my first post and first time to this board. Hi.

I'm considering going to WDW this summer. I'm NOT a traveler or a vacationer. I'm basically a homebody, so it takes a lot to get me to go on a vacation. I can't deal with this snow here in MI, so I'm ready for a vacation.

I haven't been to Disney since 1999. I've been to the Coronado, and Caribbean Beach, but I'm considering the Beach Club this time. I have to teens and I like the fact that they can either walk or take the boat to Epcot on their own. I'd like the transporation to be close to the hotel, and for the hotel to be generally close to a park. I've heard great things about the pool there, too.

I've also heard that I can get a room at the Yacht Club, next to the Beach Club, that will fit 5 people (I'll have a husband and 3 kids with me), but the Beach Club will only hold 4. Is that right? Either way, there's not too much difference between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club, is there?

Thanks for taking the time to read my inquiry.

I would definately recommend the Beach club for your trip as the location is excellent as is stormalong bay. If there are 5 of you on the trip have you thought about renting DVC points to stay at the Beach Club Villas (or you could try to book there directly.) This way you have all the facilities available at the Beach club along with the great location. You also could have a 1 or 2 bedroomed villa which would give you a full kitchen and lots of extra space. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed dedicated villa last year when we went (there were 4 adults on the trip) and we loved it. If you ask on the DVC board someone there might be able to help you.

I don't know much about the DVC. I don't know if we'd want a villa, either. The past few times we've been, we spent zero time in the room. We ate out and spent time in the pools and the parks. I don't know if that would benefit us.

You can also get a room at the BC that will sleep 5. In November we had two queen beds and a daybed. The pool is great there and the resort location is great too. You'll enjoy.

Hey, fabwallsmom!!:)

Welcome - there is plenty of info out there to help you plan. Check out the "Resort FAQ & Info" thread on this forum and also check out mousesavers.com for budget info and allearsnet for general planning info (pics of resorts, dining info, menus for all rest. etc.).

DD and I stayed at the BC last Dec. and the pool is fantastic, and the location can't be beat - close to Epcot, a boat ride away from MGM, walk or boat to the Boardwalk!::yes:: Our favorite resort is AKL, so that's where we'll be in April, but the BC is a wonderful resort!!

Happy planning!:teeth: (That's part of the fun, IMO)

The BC or the YC are both fabulous resorts. They are connected to each other, but have different themes. They share one great, awesome, fantastic pool. Both resorts will accomodate 5 people. Rooms have day beds for the 5th person.

I would recommend a 2BR villa also, however, if you really don't plan on being in the room at all & always eat all meals out then you may be fine with a standard room.

The BC & YC are conveniently located so it is easy to get to EPCOT & MGM. You can also take the monorail from EPCOT to the MK, so this is another plus, especially when travelling with teens that can go off on their own.

A definite vote for either of these resorts!! ::yes::

Beach Club is a great resort for teens. And 5 to a room is not so bad if you are just using the room to sleep... though you may want to request a full-size balcony. That extra bit of room will allow you and your DH a small escape from MTV or late sleepers. My DD and DS loved the ability to wander down to Beaches and Cream for a sundae or over to the Boardwalk. By the way, the daybeds are just slightly smaller than a twin bed - a bit narrower and maybe a bit shorter.
