Planning my first BC stay. Does all of Stormalong bay have sand? I am not a big fan of sand, so a bit concerned that the sand might irk me. Can you swim anywhere in that vicinity and avoid the sand? I am aware of the quiet pool, btw.

Yes and no. It’s a sand bottom pool but if I recall correctly the steps and close to the edges don’t really have sand.

My daughter hated and I mean hated sand when we went in March. The pool was totally fine for her it’s really fine sand and doesn’t really stick to you while swimming. The issue was actually getting out of the pool to use the restroom or something, you would think I was murdering her if the sand from the pool deck got on her at all.

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong about the actual bottom but that’s what I remember.

Do they have outdoor showers to wash the sand off before returning to your room?

I read a while ago exactly what the BC sand is - it's not like a "real beach" sand. As a poster said above, it is not sticky. It was never an issue for us. Personally, I don't like sand on my feet so I just slip my feet in the water before we leave and then put my flip flops directly back on.

To me, it’s more like really tiny pebbles than beach sand. It has a different texture/feel. DW hates beach sand with a passion, but has no problem with this stuff.

The only ‘problem’ we’ve had with it is getting in bathing suit pockets and such, like after us or the kids are digging/playing in it. We carried some home in a pocket once that then got washed - I won’t go into the details but I strongly recommend against this. Make sure it doesn’t get in your washer!!

Yeah, I wouldn't want that to happen. I actually don't even want to track any of it back to the room. I just find it to be a hassle (I know I'm a Debbie Downer).
