Beach Club Dining Question

Last year we went with my entire family and stayed at POFQ which I loved. I'm currently planning a trip for just me and my daughter for May 08 to stay at BC. I am concerned simply b/c I'm not as familiar with this resort about the dining situation. One of the things I really enjoyed about PO was the food court. Yes I know it's loud and a tad bit chaotic but it was great to go back to the resort in the middle of the afternoon to relax, swim, grab a quick bite to eat and then head back out. Does BC offer the same type of food court? For that matter I'm still torn between BC and WL can anyone tell me how these are set up?

We stayed at the WL may 13-20, for us it nice because you could come back relax a bit and go back out pretty easy. you can go by bus or boat. the boats take you to the MK and ft wildernes and the contempurary and ft wilderness. We found using the boats easier most times than the busses especially at night when the MK closes. As for food the WL offers Counter service, and 2 table service choices. we ate at all 2 and loved them all. The counter service is pretty standard issue though. We would recomend the WL. The buffet at BC was excellent, thats all I know about them though.

There is no food court at the Beach Club. You can get a cs breakfast and lunch at the Beach Club Marketplace, though. It's a small gift shop/market. You can definitely get breakfast, lunch, and snacks here, but the choices aren't as varied as at one of the food courts at the moderate resorts. There's also a very limited seating area. This was one of my main concerns staying at the Beach Club, but in all honesty, it really wasn't bad. I was always able to get something for a cs credit on the dining plan, and I always found a place to sit. As for the Wilderness Lodge, I have never actually stayed there, but I have been there, and I know that they have a fairly large food court with plenty of seating.

Neither the Wilderness Lodge nor the Beach Club have a food court in the traditional sense of a large area with lots of choices. I would characterize the Wilderness Lodge offering, Roaring Forks, as a counter service restaurant instead. There are lots of good food choices for breakfast, lunch and snacks, but it's one room instead of a large court, and there is good seating but again like a smaller restaurant, not a huge space like POR or another moderate or value food court.

WL also has limited but adequate chocies in the gift shop for things you might take back to your room, especially if you are in a villa and have a microwave or oven.

Whispering Canyon is a delightful restaurant with a real Disney themed feel and an entertainment component as well. Artist's Point is a very nice upscale dining experience.

At the Beach Club, there are more options, but again, no food court in the traditional sense. As someone else said, you can get limited selections at the market shop. There is also a counter service restaurant called Beaches and Cream for lunch and great snacks like ice cream, etc. The Cape May restaurant is a wonderful place - there is a great character breakfast buffet and we've always enjoyed the dinner buffet, too.

You can't go wrong with either resort, in my opinion!!

I stayed at YC/BC a few weeks ago and really missed the POR food court! In fact, we left with 9 CS credits unused because it was so darn difficult to find anything around there. Sandwich, anyone? Where? Where?

I've read people tout the BC Marketplace, but everytime I went in there, there was no CS type food. They were either done serving lunch, or dinner, or whatever, but there was not much in there to buy for a CS. In fact, I arrived at 10:30pm on my last night and wanted to use up a CS credit and they made me use my snack credits because there was no sandwiches, nothing. So I bought pretzels and water.

When I visited the WL to eat at WCC I saw that there was a large CS option there, Roaring Forks. Looked more like POR foodcourt than anything I saw at BC or around there.

We have stayed at both WL and BC and we prefer the food options at WL much better. BC does have the marketplace but it is verrrry limited. A few cold sandwiches in the afternoon and some good snacks. I highly recommend the gelato here! The breakfast offerings seemed a little better. Beaches and Cream is actually considered a TS restaurant. We found it pricey for what you got and nothing out of the ordinary where the food was concerned. It is also small and always very crowded. We did use the Spoodles pizza window on the boardwalk, though and it was pretty good. We ended up eating at Cape May twice because it was convenient and we did enjoy both dinner and breakfast here. It just seemed more convenient to grab a quick bite at the WL and there was usually something available that everyone would eat. We also enjoy Whispering Canyon.

The Beach Club Marketplace has VERY limited choices for breakfast. You can get either a pastry or a croissant sandwich. I don't really care about the lack of variety, BUT they often run out of the cooked eggs for the croissant sandwiches and tell you that you will have to wait 15-20 minutes. If I were back at the hotel for lunch, I wouldn't care about the wait. However, we like to get to the parks before they open, so a 15 minute wait for breakfast is a big deal.

The Beach Club, in my opinion, is the most beautiful hotel on Disney property and I would always stay there despite the somewhat inconvenient CS options. Stormalong Bay is huge and never feels crowded regardless of how full the hotel is. The short walk into the World Showcase is also a reason to stay there.

wl is nice but the location and at the bc can't be beat. plus there is just more to do and see at the bc. wl is very isolated if that is what you are looking for it is a great option. but if you want to be close to dining and two parks plus a great pool and pretty rooms bc is wonderful!

I have not been to the BC yet but I am going at the end of July. I have read that there if Hurricane Hanna's which is by SAB and you could get a quick bite to eat there like, burgers, wraps, salads, etc.

When we stay at BC and want a quick bite, we normally get food at Hurricane Hannas or Beaches & Cream. Neither are typical "fast-food" counters, but both have burgers, etc. Just beware that Beaches & Cream can have a wait line depending on the season and also the time of day/night. Hurricane Hannas is normally very quick. We stayed at Dixie Landings (now POR) quite a few years ago and have since been staying at deluxe resorts (since we had kids.....), and I will admit to missing the typical fast-food counters, but the deluxe perks and mainly the ability to walk or monorail to parks really does make up for the missing fast-food counter. What's nice about the BC location is that if you are at Epcot, for example, and wanting to head back to BC for a swim, you can walk on the Boardwalk on your way back to BC and stop at ESPN for a quick lunch, or else there are also stands set up on the Boardwalk if you want even quicker food. Then just continue on walking around the loop and you'll be back at BC. If we are in a major rush for food, however, we do normally grab a bite at Hurricane Hannahs because of the convenience of already being at the pool for our afternoon swim.

We think the BCV itself & the area is packed with restaurant choices.
I will say we go on 'off' periods: Nov, early Dec, Jan & early March.
It is a short boat ride or pleasant walk to MGM--Anaheim Produce Company (fresh fruits), Starring Rolls, Hollywood & Vine (characters) or Epcot, Electric Umbrella, Akerhus, Princess breakfast. There are also the bakeries in France, Italy & Norway. These also have sandwiches & beverages.
In the Boardwalk area there is: Garden Grove @ the Swan; Picabu's is open 24 hrs a day(used to be Tubbi's) & Fresh @ the Dolphin; The Galley @ YC; Crew's Cup Lounge (mostly drinks, but appetizers, too); Spoodles;Boardwalk Bakery (egg sandwiches, doughnuts, muffins & beverages) as well as all the spots mentioned in previous posts. I didn't even go into the various snack carts.
there is also in-room. One of the reasons we like the Boardwalk area (& bought at BCV) are the easy & plentiful restaurant venues. When we invite relatives to stay w/us everyone can suit themselves & all say they enjoy the offerings.

Much of it is when you plan to go--if you go a little before or after the obvious rush times, you'll be all set.

As others have already reported, the BC Marketplace is EXTREMELY limited on lunch/dinner selections. They had 3 sandwich choices for adults, 2 choices for kids when we were there a few weeks ago. They had some nice desserts in the case and the gelato was good, but if you wanted more food court type food, it is not available there. One morning we went over to Spoodles for breakfast, which was great, wish they had a non-buffet breakfast at BC. The YC Galley was closed for refurbishment while we were there. We love WL and Roaring Forks. We like the intimacy of the place and the last time we were there they were still making food to order, not sure if that is still the case.
