We also just returned from BC concierge. DJ, in the evening, was the absoulete best person up there. He was extremely outgoing and remembered everyone's name, where they were from, etc. Our room was just Ok, I believe the BC really needs the major rehab it will be getting in the fall. I would not recommend our room, 5705, it was extremely small and only had two full size beds, not queens. Our view was nice, looked right at the slide at SAB but otherwise it was nothing great. The floor was almost completely empty last week, Sunday of labor day there was no one on either side of us or across the hall. Actually, I was told only the rooms facing the lagoon were occupied and judging by the number of newspapers outside doors in the morning, I would say that was true.
So many things have to be rehabed at the BC, from elevators to rugs, furnishings etc. Also, the balcony's aren't being taken care of properly either, our balcony was downright dirty, esp the overhead area, loaded with dead bugs, etc.
Honestly, we enjoyed staying on the floor but would never pay rack rates for these rooms. $600 a night, definitely not worth it. AP discounts made it reasonable but otherwise I would never do it.
We felt the food offerings were adequate but nothing spectacular, nothing was actually "hot" in the evening. The offerings were corndogs,pb&j sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies, etc. Breakfast is the only thing they do good, but then fruit and cereal is what we eat for breakfast, a egg and bacon person would still want to eat out. I enjoyed having coffee available all day but then again, it is the Nescafe instant stuff they have park wide now and not "real" coffee. One night when we returned after the fireworks there was a sign that said "In order to maintain our high standards of quality, please ask our attendents for fresh coffee" So I asked for a decaf and was told it was instant, etc. Why put up the sign? I really hate the Nescafe stuff they throw at us these days in WDW. I wouldn't serve a guest in my home instant coffee, I think it is downright tacky to serve instant in any restaurant in WDW.
I don't beleive anyone else has ever mentioned this but Art, the greeter, was up in concierge one night working in the room. It was amazing how different his personality was up there. He barely said a word to anyone but then his duties up in the lounge there are different then his duties in the lobby.
