Are non-resort guests allowed to go watch Wishes from the Polynesian beach? One of our reasons for booking the Poly was to escape the huge crowds at MK on the 4th of July. I hope we aren't dealing with tons of people just there for the fireworks. Either way, I'm sure it will be great, but I hope the crowds are manageable:)

Yes, they are. And they do. it will be very crowded on 4th of July, and there are no gates.

Same here! I guess we just need to get there super early to stake out a spot...

The answer is yes, but. We've stayed at the Poly 5 times mostly Spring and Fall, never 4th of July though. In our experience, there has never, ever been a big crowd, or what I consider even a crowd period on the beach to watch the fireworks, or water parade. There've been a few more people than normal, but never a crowd.

Yes non-resort quests are allowed but no parking unless you have dinner reservations. We've stayed at Poly 4th of July. Yes, it is very crowded, and fun. They setup an ice cream cart on the sidewalk by the beach.

You have to keep in mind, July 4th is one of the days prone to phased closures. Lots of people plot fireworks views from out-of-park for that day, so Poly is pretty nuts. It's not a normal day.

If we have a lagoon view, and it happens to be on an upper floor (above the crowds), would we be able to see them well right from our balcony? We *had* to upgrade to lagoon view to get the AP discount, so maybe that will come in handy!

I'd imagine, even with crowds everywhere, we'd all see fairly well. At least I hope so! I can't picture how close the beach is and what kind of view it would get. Regardless, I bet it will still be amazing:)

They used to play the music from the beach but to away the speakers during the remodel of the pool area. We stayed at the Poly last August and they did not pipe in the music on the beach. You could hear it faintly from the rooms in the club level that face the beach, if they had their door open.

We are at the Poly right now. We watched wishes from the Tiki Terrace patio, outside of Trader Sams, 2 nights ago. They do have the music there. If you were to stand near the pool along the marina you could hear the music from the patio and should see well

Are you staying CL? Then, yes, it will be crowded in front of your room. If you have a regular lagoon view room, you will be in Tuvalu or Aotearoa which shouldn't have any crowds in front of them. If you are on that side of the resort, and you can't see them from your balcony, you may want to consider going to luau cove beach which is right by both of those longhouses or trying to snag a table by the rail at the Trader Sam's outdoor patio. Even the pathway between Tonga and the marina isn't a bad spot and you can still hear the music.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Having never even visited the Poly before, I have no idea about the layout, etc.

We're in a regular lagoon room, so I'll try the tips above:). Can't wait!

Officially….No but they only time they try to limit guests on the beach is the 4th of July and New Years Eve. They are not that successful but they have scanned bands before going out the back doors of the GCH and even had people checking people walking over from the TTC. The problem is they still get overwhelmed and many still get in on those holidays. There were signs posted that said the pools and beach were for Polynesian Resort guests only but they realized that no one really pays attention to the rules.

We've stayed at Poly CL every July 4 (for the last 5-6 years or so...going again this year too). I was just going to post that they do try especially hard to keep non-Poly guests off the beach for the 4th of July. Even July 3 is pretty crowded. I wish they would rope off an area specifically for non-Poly guests. Then just have CM's constantly saying "non-Poly guests in this area" and also post signs everywhere and continue to have several CM's with Ipads to scan MB's. When they find non-Poly guests, just direct them to the appropriate area. I'm sure there would still be people who didn't obey and didn't get MB's scanned, but maybe it would help a little bit anyway.

I will say last year the CM's did a great job of keeping people off the grass in front of Hawaii (however, maybe it was too wet? It was pretty rainy). But there was an enormous amount of people standing on the walkway, so we couldn't see the water show from our patio, so we had to stand on chairs. Not very comfortable, but at least we got to see the show I guess.
