NBC had both Betty and Rue on conference call this morning talking about Bea. It was so sad, but good to remember how close they once were.

CBS did last night in the space they'd normally run a commercial -
It was a nice touch and very classy.

I can believe that of Bea Arthur. I've known several people that were very shy and reserved offstage but were a force of nature in performance. You expect them to be very forceful away from the spotlight, but it's just not the case.

I'm just going to giggle to myself about that last part, Wally.

I just thought maybe the poor old thing was up past her bed time.

I heard Betty and Rue - left for work before it was on but I caught it later online. It sounded like they were all really friends and I loved how Betty and Rue were kidding around. On one of the shows Rue mentioned that when her mother died and she came back home to LA after the funeral she was very down and called Bea, it was Thanksgiving and Bea was with her family but told Rue to come over immediately. She fed her and tucked her in bed. Rue said it was exactly what she needed at that moment. Rue and Bea knew each other for 37 years.
