going to WDW!!!!!

I am taking my 3 year old grandson to meet my father who lives in Florida. Because my mother had been so ill with a compromised immune system we were never able to get her great-grandson to see her. Recently she passed away and my 76 year old father is fighting depression. So he wanted to see his great-grandson. But he is not sure he is up to a long visit with an active three year old. Solution: take a break in the middle of the visit and go to WDW!!!!

My family is planning a BIG trip in March, but my grandson has never been to MK before. So I thought this a perfect opportunity for him to meet Mickey and friends. Then he can be better prepared for March, 2006. Also this will be a special day with Grandson and Grammy

We are going on Sunday June 12. I was able to get a one night ressie at SoG. I am thinking because of his age I will get a one day- one park pass. MK is open to 11. However, it is rated an 8 in the unofficial touring guide plan site. So do you think a park hopper would be better so we can jump to another park if the MK gets to crowded? Even though it is supposed to be crowded I was able to get a room and a lunch ressie at Chrystal Palace at 11:30 and a dinner ressie at Liberty Tree Tavern at 6 pm with no problem. In fact they both had all kind of openings. That makes me wonder how crowded WDW will really be? Any ideas?

I am planning to do two sit downs, one with Winnie (DGS sings "Deep in the Hundred Acre Woods" perfectly!" and one with Mickey. My main objective is to introduce him to the characters, do a few rides and watch parades and fireworks. I will be taking a break mid-day at the hotel if our room is ready. I am planning to let my grandson set the pace.. :flower:

This was all decided just yesterday!!! I only have 15 days to take my grandson for his first visit to the MOUSE!!! :earsboy:

This is wiith his Mom's consent, a wonderful daughter to let me have the opportunity for his first visit. I can not believe how generous she is. I did offer this trip to her to take DGS to see my Dad but she couldn't get off of work and suggested I TAKE HIM!!!!!! We are going to have so much fun!!! :cool1: As my darling boy would say, "We are going to have lots of good fun, right Grammy?" "Right boy!":sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Suevee, You are the best grandma and daughter. Your little one will have such fun! I'd say stick w/ the MK. There is plently to do there in one day let alone adding another park into the mix. Have fun and take your time and enjoy the MK.

With a three year old, one day, and reservations at SOG as well as great character meals planned at MK I would stick purely with MK and save the hopping for your longer trip. If you want to get out of the park and do something else the monorail ride to and back from Epcot would probably THRILL a 3 year old and won't cost you a thing!

Sounds like a great plan. Have fun!

I would say with only one day, stick to MK. Just go early, use Fast Passes & focus on characters & stuff when the lines get too thick.

Of course, if you all are going in 2006, you could just get your MYW with hopping & no expiry for that trip now adding your extra day (or more). Passes will be cheaper per day this way....

I think I will just concentrate on MK. It will be an easy trip back to the resort if he gets tired. I am looking at a one day pass because in March we are getting annual passes. 2006/2007 look to be big WDW years for us. We have a large family visit in March 2006 (20 people), a long weekend in June for hubby and me, a possible trip in August 2006 instead of the beach for grandparents and both our grandchildren, and a last trip in Feb. 2007 for grandparents and the boy. Our granddaughter, age 10, has been to WDW about 8 times. Now her mom is making great money and can afford to take her. But our youngest daughter is not in such good financial shape and we want the boy to have some special trips with Grammy and Poppy just like his cousin did at that age. :wizard: We only have two grandchildren and tend to dote.

Now, one more question - Do I tell him to prepare him for the characters or do I just surprise him? I keep waffling. He does want to go to MK so badly. He always asks to see the WDW trip planning video and an old family video dating back to 1983!! :goodvibes

I am not sure how he will react, but I am not sure if I can keep it a secret because I am just do excited to be sharing this with him. :cloud9:

Also are there any opinions on Pal Mickey 2? Would it be worthwhile to get him since we are planning so many trips in the future or is he a pain to carry around? :confused3

I agree
In 2002 we had 22 HOURS to plan a WDW vacation!

You are so lucky! And so is your DGS!! I have 4 kids, the oldest is 20 y/o, and I keep thinking of the day that I will get to take a grandchild. I know it will be awhile, but I think it will be a huge thrill. We couldn't afford WDW when our kids were really little, so it will be a 1st for me with a little one. My 17 y/o DD has told me many times that she will love the fact that she will be able to have time away from her (future) kids by sending them to WDW with meLOL!!! She says that she and her (future) DH will get their "alone" time that way!!!LOL!!! :bounce:
