Be our guest lunch was just bad

I ended up just canceling our reservation for lunch and getting one for Kona Cafe instead. I would still like to get a dinner ADR for BOG one day. I can't believe it was all booked up and I got online at 6:00 am the day I could make them too. Oh well. Thanks for the info.
IF you were looking for a table service restaurant for lunch, then Kona Cafe is a better choice.

Remember, even though you have to make a reservation, BoG is counter service for lunch.

We - 4 adults and 1 toddler- had lunch there last week-7/10- the check in process was a disaster- took forever to finally get to a kiosk to order and pay- found a table with no problem and the food came out pretty quickly.

The food was mediocre at best- I had the Croque Monsieur which was very greasy- DH did not enjoy the roast beef sandwich- ordered the Strawberry Cupcake which was bland and super sweet

Agree that the dining room is very loud and chaotic. We had dinner here 2 years ago and really enjoyed it but will probably pass on lunch in the future.

Funny you say that. I booked a 1:05 reservation for Kona and we are really looking forward to it. Thanks!!

We had lunch at BOG this past Thursday and found the food to be very average and the experience awful. Let me start with the awful.

We had to wait in an incredible long line to report in and have our Magic Band scanned which took 15 minutes to get done for our 11:30 ADR. Once in we had to again stand in a long line with mass confusion among the cast member letting people in and those standing in line. When we did get to her we let her know that we already pre-ordered our food; she asked if we were on the dining plan, cash or credit. I told her we were paying with a Disney gift card or Visa. She told us to stand over to the side for a few minutes. During this time she kept letting people past us in both lines. After about 5 minutes I asked her what is up, again, just stand over there for a few minutes. Finally, and to no exaggeration we stood to the side for 15 minutes and I asked her once again and was told we will need to settle our food bill first... I will admit I was very frustrated at this point and said could we please just do that, settle the pre-ordered bill and go eat or either let us go to a terminal and re-order. She again said in a few minutes... At that point I said NO. I want to speak to a manager and I want to speak to him/her now, not in a few minutes, but now! The manager did come out and was very courteous and did take us to a terminal to finally pay our $168 lunch bill for 8 of us and were escorted to a table to eat.

When the food arrived it was a mix of opinion as to the food. Overall, I would rate it fair though I will admit I ordered the Tuna Nicoise Salad and enjoyed it and another in our party ordered the roast beef sandwich and said it was really good. The rest thought their carved turkey was ok but a bit dry and another was not overly impressed with the Quinoa Salad. What was a real disappointment was the rather uninspired size of the Masters cupcake a couple in our party ordered and the pathetically small and previously frozen look of the Eclaire a l'Orange that my wife ordered. It was truly a pathetic looking piece of pastry not even worthy to wear a Hostess or Little Debbie wrapper around it.

After this lunch we thought it was behind us, but a few days later on our night before we were checking out I went to the front desk at our resort (VGF) to settle up any remaining charges we had since I am one who just doesn't like or trust the automatic checkout where any remaining charges will be charged to our card. Sure enough on the printout there was an unpaid balance of you got it, $168 from BOG... The cast member at the desk told me it needed to be paid and would be charged to my card. I told her I would be right back with the receipt to show it had been paid. I brought down the receipt and also accessed my credit card account on my smart phone showing her the pending charge. She asked to make a copy of the receipt and mentioned that once the charge went through on my card they would then credit my Visa. My response, not going to happen (yes I was friendly). You have the receipt, you see the pending charge; You go to charge that and I will call my Visa card as I sit in front of you and inform them I an contesting the charge. Whola, perhaps a few minutes of inconvenience to her, but problem solved and no charge to me.

To sum it all up. Never again for me at BOG. Certainly not for breakfast and their $25 Cronut or Disney Egg McMuffin... Never again for lunch after this... And the dinner menu just has little appeal to me. The decor is awesome, but not worth the aggravation and the loss of time we experienced that day.

I have a lunch reservation there and we'd pay oop for a light lunch but this time suck thing is really what is making me hesitate. Not just because of what you (and many others) have said but also because of my ex's experience with my son - similar thing. took forever to get checked in, forever to get a table and then the food just never came out and took 3 cm's plus an eventual manager to sort it. It was long and grumpymaking. Not worth it imo. I really wanted to see the place but not if it will take longer than waiting in line for a ride to do it.

Wow, ate there last year on my own (family flew out earlier and I had a day at MK before the evening flight) and I absolutely enjoyed myself. One of the best meals I have had at Disney, QS or Sit down. I have also done dinner and that was fantastic

We had dinner at BOG and the atmosphere was amazing. The chicken was dry but the pork chops were delicious and the orange eclair was better than the grey stuff cupcake.

We are lunch here on Tuesday 9/8 and it was a terrible experience. We checked in and paid for our pre-ordered meal just fine. Then the problems started. The lunch was clearly overbooked as there were many families searching for a place to sit. This made it extremely difficult for us, since my dd has a fairly large wheelchair that can't block any of the aisles, but can't fit into the center areas. In the past we've asked for assistance in finding a table (since we needed access to an outlet for her medical equipment) and were helped happily. On this visit, the two CM's basically refused and said go find your own seat.

After wandering for 15+ min, a table opened up that she fit at. We settled in and noticed the smell. It was almost 100 degrees outside, and there were literally 20+ trash carts wandering through the restaurant clearing old food. The stench was just overpowering in the heat. By the time my food arrived I was so nauseous I could barely eat.

My son had the potato leek soup and kids turkey sandwich, which he enjoyed. I had the croque Monsieur, which was not enjoyable at all. The ham felt very low quality, the sandwich was cold and slimy, and the toasted bread was soggy. I have had this meal in the past and enjoyed it. Cupcakes were just ok-- the flavoring on the lemon meringue especially tasted chemically. :(

I don't think we'll be back any time soon. Our first time lunch at Tony's (had pizza, zucchini, and creme brulee) which I was very nervous about was actually very good. Just goes to show that you can't always judge a restaurant by what you read on the internet. Especially since I'm sure someone else had the opposite experience on the same day. ;)

We had a lunch here last year and it was not bad just not good..way overpriced but I understand you get the castle so we did it but wont do it again..

We were there for breakfast in May so it was a fairly different experience. We were in before park opening, about 8:30 even though our ADR was for 9. Wandered up went straight in. Not the best table but it was for 2 and our of the way. One of the rooms wasn't open yet when we got in. The snowy room I think. I agree that it's not clear where to go for cutlery etc. but I worked it out. Food was a bit slow, especially as we pre-ordered but not so slow that I was going to moan, someone actually came and apologised but we hadn't realised it had been long. We were just so excited to be in MK! We had the breakfast, my BF told me to ignore the price as it would upset me and we had tons of food.

That is what I would recommend as well, stay away from the croque monsieur sandwich, it was definitely not the best. The roast beef sandwich was okay but the pork was very good if you like pork.
I agree. Try the pork. I did not like the cupcakes. I think it you have the dining plan you can substitute the French onion soup in stead of dessert.

We're going for the first time in March. I couldn't make up my mind which meal to eat there, and have had ADRs at one point for B, L, and D, but finally settled on lunch due to menu appeal and cost.
I'm going in expecting a quick service meal in a unique atmosphere. The Rose Gallery is actually going to be my first pick if we can get it. It looks charming and perhaps a bit less hectic. We'll take a quick peek in the other rooms, of course.
I think we'll pre-order. I'm planning on French onion soup, either turkey or beef sandwich, and a Master's cupcake! Sounds like a good lunch to me!
I think the Music Box Room is a good choice. It is quieter, less crowded and very cheery. My husband has had both the turkey and beef sandwich and also the roast pork. The sandwiches were OK for QS. (much better than wdw quick serve burgers) But the roast pork was much better.

Pre-ordering your food doesn't mean it gets served faster. It simply allows you to stand in what is usually a much shorter check-in line when you get there. Your order isn't sent to the kitchen until you check in at the kiosk at the end of the bridge where you paid for your food. We've never done breakfast there -- only lunch a few times, but your "spoiler" makes me want to try breakfast on our next trip. Yum!

Ah fair enough :) That makes sense! Haha it was good, I love poached eggs :)

I have had great luck through the years with CM service..never rudeness, sometimes magic. For what I pay to be there had I encountered the above described rudeness I would have made a point of looking at their name tag and asked to see a manager before I left. Also feedback sent to guest service will be followed up on.

We were underwhelmed with dinner, as well. Gorgeous atmosphere and great service. But none of us really enjoyed our meals. And the brownie the grey stuff was on was as hard as a brick/inedible. Still glad that we at least got to experience it.

Sorry to hear this. We enjoy BOG and hope it was just an off day for their staff.

Dinner was fabulous. Got the Rose Room which was not disappointing, but people pilfering in and out taking photos of the rose were annoying. The food was wonderful, the service top notch.

People were 'pilfering'? What were they stealing? Or, were they just enjoying watching and taking photos of the rose. We loved our lunches there, and were encouraged to check out all three dining rooms.

Naturally, the 'dark' room was very enchanting to most people - seeing the rose, and the change in the prince/beast picture. Weren't you curious to see this and the other rooms also?

Would agree that the best table would not be sitting directly in front of the rose as most dining guests wanted a close look at the rose in action. Actually, we enjoyed dining in that room, but for two, were against the wall and weren't impacted by 'lookers'.

We went there to 'see/experience' the castle as much as to eat and we have not been disappointed in any of our 4 visits.
Our lunches have been the greatest cs's that we have experienced in MK (braised pork). Already have our ressies there for April '17.

We have enjoyed lunch on a number of occasions but always order the same things we know we like. The biggest issue by far is not being able to find a table. Even going during super slow times of year which we do it is always terrible. Last time the 2 of us were invited to s1t with another couple at a table for 6 after we stood around for a long time. They were very nice. After they left a party of 5 came over, sat down, and tried to squeeze us out. I think they thought we were together and leaving but we had just gotten our meals and it was very uncomfortable. They didn't speak much English which made it hard to communicate that we were not leaving. We flagged down a CM and they were able to find them a table for all of them and we ended up inviting another couple to sit with us who had been standing and waiting a LONG time. No other QS is nearly that bad to find a table.

This makes me feel a lil bit better about not getting a lunch ADR. I did manage to get a breakfast ADR even though the menu seems lacking (my friend will not be happy about not having his Mickey Waffles). However it sounds like the table situation will be easier since we're going right when it opens.
