I am going to hijack too. My reservation is for 8 people. 3 families each on the dining plan. If I order for everybody I am assuming we can split up the payment at the restaurant? Also, can my 6 year old order off the adult menu. I thought that the dining plan now allowed for that but I just read a conflicting report.
I would also like to know if you can split up the bill if preordering. I have 5 rooms on 1 reservation (11 people). Want to make sure they are able to subtract the correct credits from each room, even though we are all on 1 resv
I think that's the one "official" change that could potentially cut into Disney's dining plan profits the most so I can see why they might not advertise it. If a child orders off the adult menu at each meal, they could potentially order meals that cost more than the dining plan cost for the day (when you add in a snack and the amortized cost of the refillable mug) -- though I'm sure Disney is *still* making money on the plan. So they still say on the brochure that kids must order from the kids menu, but now if someone *asks* if a kid can order of the adult menu the official answer will be "yes". Disney knew this was being done in the past (CM's were telling people -- myself included -- that it was fine for kids to order off the adult menu. FTR, I didn't even ask, the CM overheard my then 6 yo DD getting upset that she couldn't order the adult meal she really wanted and the CM said, "It's not a problem for her to order off of the adult menu with the dining plan. We want our guests to be happy with their meals.") and didn't do anything to discourage it so in reality, they were not only allowing it, but encouraging it.
