Be Our Guest - lunch or dinner?

I secured a FP+ for BOG lunch last month. However, I was just able to snag a dinner reservation on our MK day as well.

Is lunch or dinner better? I realize BOG lunch is only a QS credit, which seems to me like it might be the better deal?

The only reason I think dinner may be better is because I have an 8 yr old boy with me, and I thought I read you got to meet the Beast at dinner, which he would like.

Opinions? Thank you!

I have only had BOG for lunch and this is only my opinion, but the food was not good. Everything arrived cold and all the sandwiches with the exception of the roast beef, were hard. We will not be back for lunch. :sad2:

We were in the same situation, and ended up cancelling our BOG dinner ADR. The food at lunch was pretty good, nothing spectacular but we didn't go for the food, we went so we could see BOG. Most reviews I've read on the BOG dinner have been anywhere from alright to not good. I can't recall reading anybody raving about the food there, but again we only experienced lunch ourselves.

We didn't really care if we met the Beast though. Currently it's the only place he meets in the parks, so if you want to meet him keep the dinner ADR.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like, from reading reviews around here, that the lunch outshines the dinner. Maybe we'll just stick with the FP and let the dinner reservation go.

Thanks!

We have only had dinner at BOG and we've always had a great experience there. The menu choices are much different at dinner than they are at lunch, so that might be something to take into consideration while making your decision. Also, the beast only is available for photos and a M&G at dinner time.

I have only had lunch there, and based on that, I wouldn't go back. Nothing was very good. If you're definitely doing BOG, I would go for dinner. It HAS to be better than lunch! My quiche was dry and room temp. The French onion soup was flavorless. My families' sandwiches were pretty good, but not anything worth going out of your way for. The cupcake was so-so. I was sad we skipped Columbia Harbor House for BOG.

Because of the mixed reviews, I'm going to FP+ lunch and only order cupcakes. Figured I can get QS lunch somewhere else (before or after... because it's okay to eat dessert first) AND still experience the ballroom, West Wing, and Grey Stuff!

We've done both lunch and dinner so here's my comparison of the two.

There are differences between the two meals. The entrees are different, but the soups are the same (there are some additional appetizers at dinner) and the desserts are pretty much identical. At lunch the carts that are used to bring your food to the table are the same ones that are used at dinner for the dessert presentation so you'll get to see the carts. Also, unlike most CS, at BOG even at lunch your food will be served on china and you'll have regular stainless (no paper plates or plastic utensils). Beverages, however, are in self-serve paper cups.

The other major differences are at dinner you have a photo op with the Beast after you finish dining and at dinner you can order beer or wine.

If you're more interested in seeing the interior, you can walk through all the rooms at both meals. One advantage at lunch is you can usually choose your own table and room.

We liked lunch better. It was a more relaxing meal because we could eat at our own pace while at dinner it was so busy our server rushed us through the meal. Although the ballroom is beautifully designed and decorated, its sheer size made it feel more appropriate to a CS venue which it is at lunchtime.

If seeing the Beast or ordering alcohol is important than go for dinner. If you're mainly curious about the interior of the restaurant and the lunch menu appeals, then have lunch.

We did lunch back in January. I had the croque-monsieur and it was the most disappointing Disney food I've ever had. I also had the Master's cupcake which has the "gray stuff" and it was NOT delicious. My boyfriend had the pork, and it was much better than my sandwich, but still not all that great. His strawberry cupcake was much better than the masters! We split the french onion soup and it was not bad, but not great.

Despite the not so great food, I am glad we went. It was worthwhile getting to see everything. I'm glad we went for lunch and didn't waste a table service credit. If we did go back I would order ahead to save a little time and this time I would probably get the pork or the beef sandwich and get a fruit flavored cupcake for dessert.

Wow- would this then JUST be a snack?? Theoretically it might just be? IF the menu has a Mickey icon by the cupcake item. Anyone know?!! If so? This is a brilliant idea!!!

We have done both, and IMHO, dinner blows lunch out of the water. It's just soo much more of an experience. I know others feel differently, but for us, dinner is just awesome!

We enjoyed our dinner at BOG. We've eaten at most TS restaurants at WDW and would say BOG is average to above average. The price was better than many others. We enjoyed the food but wouldn't bother with the cupcakes again. We've have had much better. Have not tried lunch. For our upcoming trip we are only doing 2 table service meals for dinner - BOG and California Grill.
