Be Our Guest Lunch FastPass Thread [PLEASE read the FAQs in the first post!]

I just got a reservation for 4 on November 19th. I tried (refreshed every 30 minutes) for nearly 24 hours before a reservation came up. The system is either flakey or there's a lot of churn (people rescheduling or cancelling previous reservations). I'll go with flakey.

I thought my experience may help those with dietary needs. My youngest princess: has celiac disease. They had an option to filter the list of menu items for particular ingredients. The button was found on the bottom left of the screen. In some cases, the menu item changed to adapt to the dietary need specified. For example, there are two sandwiches which are not by default gluten free (obviously the bread). However, when you use the Filter option (bottom left of menu picking screen), it changes the kid meal options for two sandwiches. The grilled cheese and turkey sandwich changes to use a different type of bread (Millet bread). There was also a pork meal which is naturally gluten free (as it didn't appear to change after the filter).

My biggest disappointment was there was no "dessert" for kids. There is a cookie normally available, but nothing that gets swapped in as a replacement. They do offer sides for kids that are gluten free, so it's a very small disappointment. Just a tough one when you're asking your kids what they want as a side and the gluten eaters have that as an option. She was excited about the peach applesauce, but I decided to also surprise her with the gluten free lemon raspberry cream puff (item on the regular/adult dessert menu)!

Can I ask you a question? DId you see a standby line? I talked with the dining reservationist yesterday and told her my understanding was that there were no longer a standby line, that it all had to be done via FP. She said that she was sure that was not the case because they would have been told. I even read her the blurb from this site and on Disney Food Blog. Again, she said that it was not FP only. Could you tell, is it only FP?

By the time we showed up at 11:30am there was a sign out that said no more reservations or fast passes available. Something like that (not a quote) but you get the idea. They may still be giving out return time tickets, but with most people using FP+ for their lunch reservation, I highly doubt there are many return time tickets and if there are they probably went super fast. I do recall a sign though just can't recall exactly what it said as that was not my focus at the time.

Trip Report - BOG FP+ Lunch Edition: Just got back from our Disney trip. Ate at BOG for lunch on Sunday (party day). Here's how it works at the park. There is a booth at the end of the bridge with two checkin people. You give them your NAME and they check your reservation by name. They then do one of two things (a) give you one of the Rose RFID things you all likely have seen pictures of; or (b) scan one of your magicbands. The people in front of us got a Rose thing, we did not. I scanned my magicband and our food found us presumably using that to track my location. We did preorder our food and so did they so maybe they are testing which way works better? Okay so you're checked in, then you get in line. The line for FP+ reservation people was all the way to the start of the bridge where you initially check in. (Note: it seemed to be 100% FP+ reservation people). Line didn't take too long to get up to front. Maybe 10-15 minutes. At the front of the line they ask if you preordered or not. People who did not preorder got sent to the right to the line of people waiting to Order on their multiple order screen kiosks. People who did preorder; went to the left to wait for them to let you go find a table. That wait was maybe another 5 minutes. The time to get through the still need to order area likely took longer as you had to wait for a ordering station to open up, then go through the process of ordering. One person ahead of us who had preordered wanted to make a French onion soup they had preordered count as a snack credit, and they got sent over to the other line of people waiting to order to make that change. Preordering will save you a good 10-15 minutes folks. Highly recommend. When we got up to the front of the preorder line (of only a few families), the CM checked our reservation (by name again), asked if we were on the dining plan (we were not), then sent us to the checkout counter/cash register person. Paid with my magicband and she sent us on our way to find a table. Maybe 5 minutes from getting sent to the preorder line, to paying, then on to our table. We stopped at a few tables trying to decide where to sit. The room with the "Rose" is pretty dark and gets lots of traffic of people going to check out the "Rose". We were waiting for a table to open up in that room since you can't eat in there during dinner, but quickly realized it would be annoying having other guests constantly coming in and out around you. We were one of those people after we are. Took the kids to see the Rose, took some pictures. Tried not to be bothersome to the people eating around us. But seemed like it would be annoying to try to eat at any of the tables near the Rose or on the path to/from. Be aware of that reality if you decide to sit in there. We ended up at a table in the main dining hall, right by the window where it was snowing outside. Really cool spot. Highly recommend. Quiet, peaceful, out of the traffic pattern. After switching tables twice before settling on the one by the window, I was worried our food would go to the wrong table. It didn't. Food magically arrives via rolling cart pretty quickly. After we picked our table, my wife went to get her drink and the food arrived before she got back. Really easy and quick. Certainly so much easier than any other counter service restaurant. Food was pretty good too. All around. We arrived at 11:30 and were out of there, with bathroom break, taking photos by Rose and photos by the mosaic tile window near the entrance by 12:30-12:45. Plan on it taking an hour to an hour plus 15-30 minutes more depending on if you still have to order and how slowly your group eats. It sounded like you have the option of soups coming out as a first course, so doing that would likely add to the time too. Thoughts: (1) be prepared for it to take 10-20 minutes to get to your table from the point you check in. So if you have hungry kiddos get there at the start of your time window, probably can even arrive earlier. (2) definitely preorder your food. Really seemed to be the same process ordering there vs preordering. You don't even have to preorder at the time you make the reservation. You can preorder anytime before it seems and change anything right up to that day it seems. (3) be aware that there will be lots of people coming in and out of the Rose room if you choose to eat in there. (4). I asked and CM's don't know anything about future plans for FP+ continuing for lunch or it going to ADR for lunch. Enjoy. Overall it was an A++ counter service experience. Ps crowds at MK are much lower on the mornings of the party days it seems. People who only have party tickets can't get in until 4pm and it seems like people who are not going to the party that night go to other parks on party nights (unless they have park hopper). Even if you are not planning to go to the party that night, I recommend going to MK on mornings of party days for the lighter crowds. Rope drop the next day (non-party) had a lot more people and more people in the parks by 10 than the party day did. Main point, I don't think it being a "party day" will make BOG FP+ lunch harder to get than any other day.

What do you mean by party day?

Has anyone had experience with being unable to make a BOGlunch FP for the correct number of people because of a split reservation? i.e. I have a split reservation: four nights in a studio with just my husband and myself then 4 nights in a grand villa with our children and grandchildren. I want to make a FP for lunch on the 2nd day of the 2nd reservation, but the site only sees my husband and myself, not the rest of our group who want to attend also.

If you have had the same type of experience, was anyone able to resolve it ?
It has been suggested that we make the FP for the 2 the site sees , and just show up with the additional 3 guests and a copy of my hotel reservation.
Thoughts?

It will only recognize the first reservation under your email address. You can try using an email address from someone else (not you or your husband) who is on the second reservation and enter the reservations number from the second part of the split stay. People have had success with this.

Going for a day trip tomorrow with a friend who has never been to MK ever. I wanted to do BOG but I know things have been crazy with fastpass+ only and what not. I had read somewhere they were offering return time tickets if you got there early enough? Should we bother?

Thanks in advance.

Just got my FP+ for Nov 21 and I'm so excited!! :cool1:
Thanks to all on this thread, it worked great for me. Good luck to you all still waiting and/or trying.

Also wanted to thank everyone who has helped out on this thread. Got my FP for November 21. Didn't like the times I was given. As suggested, I simply refreshed the screen a few times until I got the one I wanted.

Also used a second email account to log in, since I wanted the FP on the second part of my split stay, and my initial account was tied to the first part of the stay.

Everything worked perfectly. Thanks again to all!

be there when the restaurant opens, that is likely your best chance to get return time ticket if they are giving them out

We have reserved two rooms and so therefore have two reservations for five of us. Since I can only type in one reservation number, only three of us appear on the guest list when I try to make my FP. How do I correct this to ensure we all sit together?

Please read the FAQ in the first post which explains how to create a second account and attempt to get similar time slots for both parties. As long as you all enter at the same time, it's self-seating so you can all eat together.

How do you know which reservation number the first account used? It didn't ask me to log in with a reservation number (guessing because we went last year). I'd like to try for one with our other reservation but not at the risk of losing/messing up our first.

Hi everyone,

I have a relative that is going to Disney World in mid November that got a BOG invite emailed to his My Disney Experience account address - but it won't bring the schedule up when he logs in, won't allow him to select a reservation. I found this thread with search and suggested he set up a different MDE account with a different email as Laura's Dad suggested earlier in this thread and it worked! This is where we get confused, when checking in do they scan the MagicBand or do you give them your reservation number that came in the BOG invite? He will have dining credits to use on the real MDE account, can those be used when the reservation is made with the second MDE account?

Why the heck do they send an email to your real account address and then not let you use it?

Thank for any help you can give!

I found this thread and suggested he set up a different MDE account with a different email as Laura's Dad suggested earlier in this thread and it worked! Here's where we are confused though, is the reservation not loaded onto his MagicBand? Can it be linked into the real My Disney Experience account and MagicBand? Or does that not work anyway? This is where we get confused, when checking in do they scan the MagicBand or do you give them your reservation number that came in the BOG invite? He will have dining credits to use on the real MDE account, can those be used when the reservation is made is the second MDE account? I'm a little worried about the tech working! I'm not sure if I should ask dining or IT so thought I'd start here. Thank you!

The BOG FP will not link to MDE. You will also not receive a confirmation email. I suggest taking a screenshot of the confirmation screen or printing it out to take with you. As it is not linked to MDE, you will not use your MagicBand. They will ask for your last name for the reservation. Some have had their FP disappear in the system which is why I recommend taking a copy of your confirmation. You can use your QS dining credits for lunch at BOG. Smart of you to start here. Neither dining nor IT has any information about the system. You will get more information here than from Disney. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I've printed the confirmation and taken it with me in the past but that was before we were using MagicBands, wasn't sure if it could be linked now. I'd heard some ressies get lost so I think that your suggestion is the best way to go.

It's a lot easier to ask here than try to find someone at IT or Dining to help, yay for Disboards! :thumbsup2

We have two reservations but the same email for both. How do I assign a different email to my second reservation so I can book the FP BOG for everyone?

You don't need to assign a reservation to it. Just register a new account in MDE with a new e-mail. Then go to the Be Our Guest website. When it asks you to log in, use your new e-mail address. When it accepts your log in, they will ask you to enter your resort reservation number. Enter this number and you should be able to start the process.
