Be Our Guest Dinner

so the scallop and shrimp puff pastry dish...is it like a chicken pot pie? veggies, gravy, shrimp and scallops? was it very seafood-y tasting? I have a 13 yr old who loves seafood and we have a dinner ADR there for our trip next month and was wondering about this particular dish. TIA

I was up at 4 am unable to sleep a couple of weeks ago, and was able to get a 5 pm be our guest dinner for a day in Feb. Maybe I should have a full , busy park day and then eat here, see the darkness and go back to the resort and go out like a light.:p

Some of the food choices sound great, others not so much. I will chime and agree that I will not go in expecting 5 star food, but average food and great ambiance , which will be fine. :goodvibes

I was there about a month and a half ago and was really impressed with it (as was my sister who was also with me). We actually went for lunch because I had received an e-mail where they were doing a test of lunch reservations if you were staying on property. I jumped on that offer and am so glad I did! It is absolutely gorgeous in there and was definitely my favorite dining spot of the trip, as well as my sister's. I placed my order ahead of time online when I made the reservation. We both got chicken sandwiches which were almost like a panini which was very good! I also got one of the strawberry shortcake cupcakes which was delicious! For the two of us (we also each got a bottle of water) it was a little over $30, and I felt it was worth it. I would totally suggest eating there!

Is dinner any quieter or calmer than lunch? We went with a FP+ and I felt like I was eating in a very fancy cafeteria. We had trouble finding a table, lots of silverware clanging and noise, and boy were we packed in there. Is dinner a quieter experience?

I would say yes it is quieter at dinner. We ate there for lunch, in the west wing last year for lunch and wasn't to bad but ate in the ballroom for lunch a couple weeks ago and it was extremely busy. We had pre-ordered our food with our FP and check in was quick as we had a separate line however once in we couldn't find a table and when we did we then waited almost 30 mins for our food to be delivered. We had dinner on Sept 29 at 5:10pm and were taken to our table pretty much immediately and ate in the west wing and it was nice and quiet.

If I had to do it all over again I definitely would. Each meal has it positives and negatives and both need to be experienced. Its what you prefer. We found the food to be really good at both meals. I can't wait to go back next year.

Our reviews: (we think lunch is better than dinner)
LUNCH:
. . . tuna or chicken nicoise - good, but too light on olives
. . . croque monsieur - nice, but Béchamel needs more nutmeg
. . . turkey on a warm baguette - average, nice dijon
. . . roast beef sandwich - tasty, but slightly tough
. . . braised pork - recommended
. . . vegetable quiche - wife liked it (men don't eat such)
DINNER:
. . . pork rack chop - the pasta out-shined the pork
. . . braised pork - recommended
. . . chicken breast - nicely done and recommended
. . . pan-seared salmon - cooked well, but average taste
. . . grilled strip steak - good, but not great
. . . sautéed shrimp and scallops - only average
. . . oven-baked ratatouille - average
