We have done lunch at BOG twice and everyone in our family loved it. I was so excited to get an early dinner reservation on our Christmas party day, until my son exclaimed how happy he was to get to eat their fries again (he thinks they’re the best on Disney property)!. Of course, there are no fries on the dinner menu☹️. Is there any chance we can ask for a side of fries at dinner or substitute something for them? He’ll probably get the steak, not sure what everyone else will order but I would be willing to order anything they’d be more likely to sub fries for!!

I'm sure you can substitute something for them, but probably not fries if they aren't on the dinner menu.

Does anyone think it would help to stop by earlier in the day to explain and ask?

It can only help if the item is available in the kitchen, and if the Chef can make it happen. I would not stop in before the meal, but would ask the server when you are seated. Does your ADR hinge on the fries? The reason I ask is that you have to cancel the day before in order to avoid a cancelation fee.

That’s what I’m trying to decide. Trying to balance his likely disappointment with my desire to do dinner!

Well, FWIW, and this is just my own mindset, I would keep the ADR. He is no worse off if he cannot get the fries, than he is if you cancel the meal. He still will not have the fries.

I move Heaven and Earth to indulge my young ones when we are on vacation, and would never deliberately book a restaurant that they would not find anything to eat, however if the choice was stay away in order to avoid disappointment due to fries, or go to a dinner I wanted to experience, I would go to dinner.

I think you’re probably right. It’s not that there’s nothing there he will eat - he loves steak and it seems like they have a great option there. Also....he’s not that young...he’s 15. In reality, he can probably deal with the disappointment better than I deal with the idea of his disappointment!

If you want to do the dinner, I wouldn't let fries (or the lack thereof) be the deciding factor.

Ph! In this case we would go to BOG, no hesitation at all.
