We have reservations for Be Our Guest before rope drop.

Given the cost and our unpredictable and picky 4 year old we are contemplating not ordering him a meal and let him eat the sweet rolls and off our plates. Has anyone done this? Any 2nd looks from cast members?
We figure if we walk away hungry we can always make another stop somewhere else after getting in some rides.

Any thoughts?

Given that people broadcast/brag on here about ordering one cupcake and maybe a beverage for everyone just to get a jump on the rides, I doubt anyone would have an issue with this plan.

UNLESS they make a policy change requiring a prix fixe meal purchase for each person before you go.

I think that's fine. They give a big plate of pastries to every table. Having a couple of those would be plenty for your kid. If money isn't an issue, their children's meals are pretty small if you feel weird about not ordering for your child.

You can share. BTW, you can also separate yours and your SO's orders so you can get two sets of pastries :)

I don’t think that will work unless you also sit at different tables. I went once with my family with two reservations for two people each, five minutes apart, because I couldn’t find a reservation for four. Both of the reservations preordered food but we sat together at one table. The different orders came out separately but the second server didn’t leave a second pastry tray. (We also didn’t ask for a second tray; maybe they would have given us one if we’d asked?)

I had a party of 3, we paid in two separate checks. We got two pastry trays (we sat together). They should have given you another set if you had asked.

We always order 2 adult meals for our table of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). You won't get the side eye, and it's more than enough food. And in the event that you are still hungry, swing by Gaston's for a cinnamon roll after the park opens.

The actual meals are not particularly large. I guess it depends on how much of a breakfast eater all of you are. We wound up ordering a regular adult meal for my DD. But, none of us eat pastries, so we didn't count that.

We did exactly this. We fed the kids cereal in the room and let them have 1.5 pastries at breakfast. Then we each had 1 pastry plus our breakfast. It worked great.

I've shared with my youngest twice, and we're both "adults". I just can't eat early in the morning, so I had a couple bites and was done. The plate of pastries they bring is such overkill! Almost every table left most of them, which were then thrown out. I do wish they'd do something else, like set the pastries up as a buffet. I bet they would throw out a fraction that way. They do have "to go" containers, so first time we took them with us, and ate them a couple hours later. You can also bring a ziploc bag to do this. Seems a waste to throw them out.

Yep. We've ordered as little as two meals for four people, on a girls' trip with my mom, because my mom and older daughter are both light eaters so a shared breakfast sandwich is more than enough while younger daughter and I aren't breakfast eaters at all and are happy sharing the meat/cheese platter. And we still had pastries left over at the end of the meal. We have two reservations/orders for our next reservation, to simplify payment because we're in two rooms with the dining plan, so we'll have two trays. I'll definitely be bringing a ziplock to take the extras along with us.

Yeah, I brought a ziploc baggie for the pastries last time I was there. It was my departure day, so I enjoyed some on the plane, and then at home! Only caveat is they got a little squished from the travel. They still tasted great. If you don't want squishy pastries, bring a harder plastic container.
