Hi all! Foolish Mortal 13 here. I finally was able to get a lunch reservation at Be Our Guest for my birthday. I read somewhere that we should order our food before going or else we will have to stand in line. Is this true? Does anyone know how it works? What's the best meal there?

I have preordered and still had to stand in line because they "lost" my order :(. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

After you check in and walk across the bridge a CM will ask if you've pre-ordered. Here is where the line splits. You will be directed to a short pre-order line that goes right to a dedicated cash register CM who will ask if there are any changes to your orders and will process your payment or dining credits.

The line for no pre-orders is a bit longer and takes much more time. When people get to the kiosks they scroll thru looking at the food choices, then this sometimes gets repeated with others in their party. This is where the time consuming hang up is that makes for a slow moving line, people looking at the pictures and discussing the food. After the kiosk order area you proceed to a bank of registers where CMs will process the payment.

We only did no pre-order once for our first visit there, way too long a wait!

Either way, once you've paid you find your own seats and get your own drinks and silverware. The food runners will bring out a cart with your order. Since they wait for your Magic Band (or the "rose" they give you at the register) to be still before they bring out your food don't linger in one spot too long or your food will come out before you are ready and seated. They assume when your RFID indicator stops moving around that you've found a table and that triggers your food delivery.

At the 30 day mark, there will be a link in your MDE under your BOG reservation. You can take a look at what is offered, book or not, and can even change your order up to the time you check in and pay.

Definitely pre-order. It was so much faster and easier. We had ordered slightly incorrectly and the cast member was helpful and let us know what was and wasn't included with our dining plan. We are pre-ordering for breakfast on our upcoming trip.

Does anyone know what happens when you pre-order but someone in your group decides not to eat lunch with you? Can the CM cancel that person's order when you get to the check out? I want to avoid the long line for people who don't pre-order.

I have a question, my sister is joining our trip and I of course, cannot get her on my reservation. I was able to make a single reservation in her name 5 minutes after our group. She does not have a MDE account, since she just turned 18 and usually travels to Disney with us. It will not let me link her reservation, how can she pre-order? Or can I just order her meal with my group? I'm open to any suggestions, thanks

She cannot pre-order without MDE to link the reservation. You could order an extra meal for her, I guess; it's QS so I doubt they throw her out if she's not at a kiosk ordering.

Awesome!! Thank you so much for the tip on the RFID indicator. I had no clue. We'll "just keep swimming." =)

I wonder whether pre-ordering is more for Disney's advantage than for the guest's.

I haven't been there yet. When I do go, I'll be with a group, and only a few of us will need to order and pay. Meanwhile, I'm hoping the rest of the group can look around and scope the place out. Getting in and out as quickly as possible is not what we want, especially if it's hot out.
