Be Honest, Have You Ever Peeked...

We could form a club and call it, "The Gladys Cravitz Club" Remember her from the old Bewitched TV show? She always had binoculars handy!

years ago when we lived in california we had a set of really "interesting" neighbors right across the street. I can't tell you the number of times I saw DH sitting at the dining room table, binoculars in hand "peeking" through the draperies at those neighbors. I long ago dubbed him President of the Gladys Cravits association.

Should I send him your way? ;)

BTW.. I have a naturally healthy curiosity as well.. can I come?

Not only do I peek in the motel rooms w/ open curtains, I also look into the windows of houses as we are driving by. Of course, if you shut your curtains, I won't be looking. I guess I am just curious about what others are doing. (Curious-not nosey!! :rolleyes1 ) DH just laughs at me!
We generally don't leave our curtains open at a motel.

Ditto :thumbsup2
Usually DH & DS17 are nitting at me like a car full of parent-ashamed 12 yr olds---
'We're all gonna get arrested', "I can't drive slower than 10 mph, look faster" :scared:
I love interiors of homes--I have no talent for house decoration, I suffer from decor envy
I have certain neighborhoods I like to check out, all on the main streets mind you--if you have to go out of your way, why, then you may have a problem!
ooh, except for at Christmas time, yeah, then I have to go down the side streets to check out the lights & if the curtains just happen to be open, check out the furniture, too :goodvibes

Jean

& again, not Chris(topher)!

I look in the windows with open blinds in hotels all the time. I love the people that also leave their doors wide open that's just weird to me but whatever works for them. I love driving around right when it's getting dark out and people in houses haven't closed their blinds yet and you can see in. I also enjoy going to open houses to see how others decorate their houses. I think I watch too much HGTV!

Along the same lines when we lived in apartments or mroe recently townhouses I always wanted to get a peek into as many other peoples as I could because we all essentially had the same floorplan so I wanted to see if they had maximized the room better etc.

I love your description- a leisurely cruise! :lmao:

Along with welovedisneyx4 and minkydog, can you imagine the fun we could have at Disney!?! We wouldn't even have to go into the parks! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh, NMAmy can join, too. She has the right attitude! :)

:lmao: Thanks, it sounds like fun! I'll bring my mom, she taught me all I know about spying and eavesdropping on people. The woman used to shush us if we were out to dinner somewhere so she could better hear other people's conversations!

My DSis (& late DMom) can read lips! :teeth:
And just in case you think you're safe, DSis knows American sign language :yo-yo:
actually, we've often had to snap DSis out of it when she's staring too much :sad2: Her best friend, Phyllis, likes to gaze, too. So if you happen upon 2 chubby ladies staring in your direction, say "Hi" to Diane & Phyllis :goodvibes

Has anyone been caught peeking by a person's whose house your staring at?

Now this sounds more like my husband! He won't participate in my little window peeping, but he does enjoy eavedropping on conversations. I've been to restaurants with him where I've been telling him some interesting story and as he's listening I can see his head moving further and further backwards or sideways and I know I've lost him. I'm waiting for the day he topples over backwards in his chair from trying to get closer to a conversation.

With me, it's less about the actual inhabitants of the hotel or house, but more about their stuff. Is that a box of Wheat Thins on the dresser? Oh look, they brought their own beach towels with them! I see I'm not the only person who dries bathing suits on the backs of chairs. Little details like that. Of course, if I happen to see the people, I consider that an extra bonus! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ahhh...the old "maximize the floor plan" story!!!!! ;)

To answer the OP...IMHO, if you leave your blinds open, you are inviting "lookers" and I will be happy to accept your invitation!!!!

never really noticed anyones shades open, but if they did sure I guess it is almost impossible not to look. :guilty:

Ok, I admit it...I've been known to peek in room windows when the curtains are open. I'll never forget the time I looked out the window of my room at the Dolphin to see a party in the room across from ours. Unfortunately I had been changing with the curtains opened the whole trip because I never realized there was such a clear view

This is a fun thread! :rotfl: Sometimes DH and I go to one of the WDW resorts to have dinner. Afterward, I like to roam through the resort and look at everything and get the "vacation feel". When housekeeping is cleaning a room and has the door standing completely open, I like to have a good look at it and see if it's a place we'd like to stay. (Nothing like "seeing" before booking!) DH has a *fit* and tells me to "Get outta there right now! People don't want you poking your head in there." I always reply back, "But the rooms's EMPTY and I'm just seeing if it's someplace we'd like to stay." A few times when housekeeping appeared "friendly" I'd ask for a better look. DH is so shammed by this he takes off without me. Oh well...he gets over it. :teeth:

LOL. And I still have the binoculars to. And we still have interesting neighbors (right beside us)! :rolleyes1

I peak.

That is what curtains are for. You leave the window open--be mindful that if you can see me, I can see you.

(Now I don't put my nose up to the glass or anything. That would be obvious!)
