If there aren't enough dishes to waste the water of filling the dish sink... then they wait.

Sometimes we have a dish or glass that might get used later in the evening. Those might get to spend the night in the sink. We never leave a whole sink full of dishes there all night.

I should say most of our dishes go in the dishwasher.

all the time! If the dishwasher is full and running or I don't have time to empty it right that second, they will just have to wait.

If they don't fit in the dishwasher they wait. Sometimes they get done right after dinner (pots & pans) but usually there are too many other things going on! Dishes will wait but kids won't!

Besides if I leave them then DH does them!

Yes, with 2 teenage boys who eat all the time yes, yes, yes.
They do put their dishes in the dishwasher but when it's full and dirty...well you know!

Sometimes I leave the big pots that need to be hand washed, but usually I do them at night.

I have no choice!!! DS 2, LOVES to open the dishwasher and "help" me out. If there was anything dirty in there, it would end up around my house!!! So, I leave everything in the sink until I have enough to do a full load.

Only the dishwasher washes dishes in our house. They stay dirty for a couple of days in it until it is full.

There is only so much time I can spend with my DH and teenage DS and DD in the evenings, so dishes will sit. I put them in to soak during breakfast and the food melts off.

I used to go to bed with nothing in the sink and a perfectly clean house--but that was 2 kids and 20 years ago !!

Dishes are all in dishwasher before bed, if the dishes are clean in there, you know what I wake up to in the morning.....

DH and DS dishes, they seem to have some kind of midnight snack everynight.

Yes and tonight is one of those nights. I'm so tired, my eyes are hurting. DH has been really sick this week, I even had to drive him to the doctor's office today. Everything has been on me this week, and the dishes will have to wait until tomorrow morning. Good night, all!
