After reconsidering our package deal (room and park tickets) that we made hastily in January, my DH and I decided (after reading about possible AP room only discounts for our December dates) to change our reservations to "room only" so we could have more options for obtaining a discount code. Well, last weekend my DH called and tried to change to room only. The CM cancelled our park tickets and applied our original $200 deposit to our new ressies. When the confirmation letter came today, the room only balance did not reflect the $200 down payment....AND, there was a listing for "admission--sport complex adm or mini golf 1 person". No charge was listed for this, nor did we ever request this. Sooooo, DH was on the phone again tonight with a great CM who tried to find our reservation confirmation number (which previous CM said would be the same as our original number.) After a great deal of searching, he found our information and explained that our original 8 digit confirmation number is typical for package deals. Room only ressies have a 12 digit confirmation number. He cancelled our revised reservation from last weekend (which was wrong!) and rebooked us "room only". He was very helpful and seemed to know a great deal more than the other CM. He's also refunding our original $200 deposit (standard for a package deal) and is now charging our new deposit of $205.16 (one night's stay) to our credit card. And because we're correctly registered as "Room only", we don't have to pay the balance until check in...not 45 days out like last weekend's CM said. So, the moral of the story is: READ ALL THE FINE PRINT AND IF SOMETHING DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT, IT PROBABLY ISN'T.
Don't be afraid to call back again....you'll probably get a really helpful CM who can make everything right!

Afterthought: Seems that's why we couldn't find our changed ressie from last weekend on the website.

Have a Disney day!! :flower:

A room only ressie booked thru WDTC will have an 8 digit ressie number and one booked thru the CRO system has a 12 digit number. WDTC room only ressies usually do include something xtra such as the golf (once we were given entry to Wide World Sports).

It kinda sounds to me (if I'm reading correctly  ) that your package was changed to room only but booked thru the WDTC system and not CRO system . I usually ask the CM if this is thru CRO just to make sure that my balance is due at check-in and not 45 days prior like WDTC.

I know this all probably sounds confusing but I had a CM explain this to me a couple of years ago. Packages then were booked thru WDTC and room only could be booked thru either WDTC or CRO. It's good to know how it's booked because deposit and balance due amounts are different for each.

Anyway, hope I didn't confuse things further. I'm glad you got it straightened out. Have a great trip! :flower:

Just a quick FYI. You can apply AP, Florida resident, and room only codes to packages, they just give you the discount on the room portion of your package, I do it every year. Have fun planning.

Wow! It's amazing what you can learn from these boards. Thanks, Nolcrest, for the further insight. When we first booked a package, we called the 407 number. When we first tried to change the reservation, we used the 1-800 number. This last time , we also used the 1-800 number. Could it be that one number is for CRO and the other for WDTC? And thanks for the AP info, AlexTina. I thought from reading these boards that having room only ressies were necessary to apply an AP code in the future. Things are lookin' up!!

Also do not be surprised (but certaintly check it out) to see that you payment due date is earlier than "day of check in".

I've tried three time to get my confirmation changed to payment due on check in, from payment due on 4/5. I called on 4/6 and was assured that our ressie was still there.

I changed from an AAA rate to AP rate.

Computer glitches.

It sounds like the first person did a "Basic Plan" no real benefits save a round of mini golf per person, and oh, the travel protection plan can be kept. This will have an 8 digit Number.

A true ROOM ONLY reservation will have a 12 digit number (its booked in a different system) and can have a discount applied to it. And you're correct, the remaining balance is paid at check in.
