Be aware if traveling to WDW within the next few days

Those who went to the ER, how did you get there? Are their doctors that will come to the resort? I'm assuming that they don't take insurance. We're not going to have a car when we are visiting next month (staying at AKV) and I'm nervous about getting sick and needing medical attention

Got my Clorox Bleach wipes yesterday, so I'm prepared! I ordered them on Tuesday, didn't pay extra for shipping from Amazon, but got them yesterday anyway!

The only problem is that they come in a huge canister and I don't want to take up that much room in the luggage. I'll have to figure something out.

Note to self: wipe down all counter service tables before sitting!

I ordered my Clorox Germacidal wipes from Amazon today, even though the $7.00 shipping charge really irks me. I figure that the expense of the wipes is better than getting super sick!

We drove; it's right outside of Disney in the planned urban community of Celebration. You could probably take a taxi for not much money.

I know there are docs that come to the room, but they can't run an iv on you in the room. Just basically prescribe stuff and tell you to go to the hospital if you really need it. There's a 24 hr pharmacy (walgreen's) in the area also, I have no memory of where it exactly is, though, my DH was driving.

Celebration hospital took our insurance, no problem, I don't know about the in-room docs.

My son puked the entire night on the Auto train to FL Thanksgiving evening. After arriving 11/28 he was still sick. I took him to a clinic on Saturday because he was not getting better. Sunday a torrential storm hit with a tornado. So we lost the first 3 days of our trip. Monday 12/1 we had a great day at AK then ate at Crystal Palace that evening and stayed at the EMH evening at MK. Later that night I started with the virus. So we lost 1/2 of the following day due to me being sick. We finally made it to DS because the boys wanted to ride the new Toy Story Mania which we did only after waiting 70 min :scared1: in line. It was also so cold that day and into the evening 38 degree night  that I couldn't even stay for Fantasmic! We did not have a magical beginning to our trip, but later in the week it got warmer and we decided to up our tickets to non exp for another trip due to the time we lost. Just be prepared if you get sick. There is not a lot you can do but wait it out. It is a nasty virus!:scared1:

We did 8 days and never saw anyone sick and we didnt get sick . But we did hear a lady on the bus talking about how she was not well the 1st day of her trip and thought it was from the plane ride. I now wonder if she had that nasty bug

Does the Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface Daily Sanitizing Spray work...it contains 0.0095%Sodium Hypochlorite (aka bleach) but is that ENOUGH bleach to kill Norwalk? :confused3

Just wanted to post that DD25, DS 20 and I spent Dec 15 to 21 at ASMo, and ASSp, and DID NOT get sick. We washed hands frequently, and got home safely. I had packed Immodium and extra Pepto, but maybe that was the charm.

Of note, DH (who teaches HS, and couldn't come on the trip) is sick now. He said that on Tuesday lots of his students were sick. I felt bad for him, as he barely made it through Christmas dinner with the adult kids, and is sleeping now, after way too many trips to the porcelain fixture. I hope my bout with Norwalk isn't in my future. I'm feeling too good for that! :tink: for everyone who's under the weather.

We just returned on Dec 22 from a 9 day trip to WDW and didn't see anyone sick nor did we hear about anyone else sick either. Most of my family did have a bit of cold symptoms, but none of the stomach flu, but we came from an area that was cold and damp to hot and dry. Most of our issues seemed more allergy related.

I was staying at CSR from 12/3 to 12/8. On 12/5 I got sick with vomiting and diarrhea. I thought it was some chickent that I ate. I had to go back to the hotel on 12/6, I just felt lousy. On 12/7, our last day there, I really wanted to go to Animal Kingdom. I was in line at the safari when I felt like I was going to pass out. Next thing I was at the hospital in Celebration, dehydrated. Two IV bags of fluid, some medication and four hours later and I was feeling better. I'm pretty embarassed that I left AK on a stretcher with an IV and oxygen, but I have to say those Disney employees know how to handle an emergency! There were nine of us together; my DH went in the ambulance with me. A Disney employee got a van (with a carseat) to take everyone else back to the hotel so they could get the car and go to the hospital. They were wonderful! The doctor in the ER told me that they were getting a lot of people in with the same type of virus.

I hope none of you encounter this on your trip!

We saw the results of this bug all over the foyer floor near Boma (12/13/08) but were lucky not to catch it. We washed our hands A LOT while we were there. We are going back in January, and I'm skipping all the buffets this time. That would be my advice to everyone else until it blows over - SKIP THE BUFFETS!

I'm so sorry for those who got sick. My DS came home with this from school around Thanksgiving time. I'm not sure how DH and I did not get it. I was a washing fool, though!!

I am happy to see that there are now a few people saying they went and did NOT get sick. Perhaps it is running it's course since mousekeeping is keeping up with bleaching everything. We are going in February and I hope we don't get it. I was sick LAST February when we went! (not the virus, a sinus infection)

We are planning on doing a lot of handwashing and are bringing the Wet One's antibacterial wipes with us too. From what I've read on the net, these are some of the only wipes which kill norovirus.

I want to find the place that never gets the flu. If even ONE person comes down with it, everyone in the same area will be exposed. Where can you get exposed? Any bus, plane, ride, show, place to eat etc, ect. I just wish that people who are ill could just stay home and keep their bugs away from the rest of us.

The Wet Ones post was very interesting. When all of these other products do not work against this nasty virus - here is something that can be found in most stores that will work? I live in an area that has no big box store, no WalMart, no Target etc. just a little grocery store and a Walgreens but I know I can get this product here and I think they can be put into my carryon too. What a bonus! If these really do work against this virus I'm going to go out next week and pick up a box for my upcoming trip in a two weeks. Thank you so much for posting that information. It's very much appreciated. Of course it will not replace hand washing but it will be used in between and it could be used to wipe down surfaces as well if one itsn't able to carry along bleach or alcohol.

another option with the same chemical as wet wipes. I like the pen model!

the shipping from the above shop is ridiculous. This amazon seller has much cheaper shipping.

We were in WDW from Nov 13th -21st. I came down with the same illness on the 18th. Luckily enough, I was the only one of the family to get sick.
It seems that quite a few of us were at the BCV. It would be interesting to see how many of us sick were there.
Just curious

We just got back from a trip to CSR from the 17th to the 24th. Thank God we did not get sick, nor did we see any signs of this nasty virus.

Maybe it has run its course for now. We did not eat at any buffet restaurants, so maybe that helped. :confused3

I hope the bug has ran its course. DD (7) will be at a gymnastic meet at WDW in 4 weeks, and I would really hate for her to get sick and miss the meet. She is looking so forward to getting to compete at WDW.

I know this is selfish but we will be there in 29 days and I hope it has left. Maybe it could go to another amusement park by then. LOL I don't want to be sick. THis is the last trip we can take in awhile and I want it to be nice.

Haven't heard anyone talking about, haven't seen anyone puking at the parks, (although we did see someone throwing up in the parking lot at the Florida Rest stop...11 days ago)

We are all fine here, ate at tons of buffets...knock on wood that we make the long drive home safely...

Has anyone thought of hot tubs? Our local health inspector told me he would NEVER EVER use a public hot tub...

Just got back on Christmas Eve. I listened to the warnings and we washed our hands like crazy! I am a germaphobe and love my wipes! Anyway... we thought all was clear, but my two year old came down with a stomach virus Christmas Eve night. Thank goodness he was well on the plane and didn't feel sick until after we were home! He is a thumb sucker, so it is so hard to keep his little hands clean.

We did see a little girl throw up in her stroller in the next bench during Candelight Processional. Parents actually had what looked like room towels in the stroller for her in case she got sick. I really hope that they didn't take her to the park knowing that she was that sick... that would be so wrong!

Anyway... it was a wonderful trip, wonderful weather and crowds weren't too bad! Can't wait to return.
