For anyone that flys out of Hartford,CT. Have you stayed at the Econolodge recently and if you did what was your experience? I don't usually stay at EconoLodge but I booked this one because it was a good price and had some good reviews (but then it had not so good reviews also). I also have the Hampton Inn reserved but that one is about $70.00 more. So for those of you who are familiar with these places which would you choose. TIA

The one and only time I did the park, sleep fly thing out of BDL, I used Priceline for the room. Got a great deal and conciege level to boot.
But, I would go for Hampton Inn, even if it is higher.

I'd choose the Hampton Inn.

I've stayed at both. The Econolodge is old. It's relatively clean, and the staff is friendly. But the issue is this: The HVAC units are LOUD (largely because they're ancient). The fixtures and facilities are OLD, and they show their age. The beds aren't super comfortable (I think the mattresses need replacing...or the beds just don't offer much support). The linens are a bit threadbare (sheets are a little rough). The whole place needs a remodel. I found it tough to get a good nights sleep before my early morning flight.

The Hampton Inn is newer, even cleaner, and also have a very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms, for me, were much more comfortable (as were the beds). The HVAC units were still a little loud..but not nearly as loud as the ones at the Econolodge. The sheets and blankets were in better shape, and much more comfortable to sleep on. I had a much easier time settling in and sleeping that night.

If we don't stay at the Sheraton, we usually park and ride at the Hampton, now.

Thank you for your replies. I guess I will go with Hampton Inn. Hard to know sometimes when reviews are so positive with one person and negative with another. Glad to get your opinions. Thanks.

To be clear: Neither is a horrible choice.

But I prefer the Hampton and would (do) pay the price difference.
