BDL & new security procedures?

anyone w/experience flying out of BDL since the new security regs were instituted? We leave next Friday. I'm just going to check everything. My carryon will have PJ's, bathing suits and toothBRUSHES only. I will carry everyone's prescription meds in a ziplock myself. Should I have everyone give me their cell phones and Ipods prior to security check so I can put them all together in a(nother) ziploc? DH & DS will then only have their wallets. DD & I will have handbags and the one very small carryon as mentioned above. What do you think?

I think it's over reacting to go to the trouble of bundleing your Ipods and cell phones. They see those things all the time so it's not like the TSA won't know what they are.

I am also flying out of Bradley next Friday and I have no plans to make myself crazy with the plastic bags. In fact, with the exception of my vaseline lip balm, I will pack as normal. I carry Very little on, book, tickets, reservation numbers and camera and snacks. I am not a pack mule, hence, I go light.

dh flew out of BDL last Friday. He said that the lines weren't very long and you can take everything as usual (phones, laptops, etc.) but just make sure you pack your liquids.

He seemed to think it was a pretty smooth process and he flies every week out of lots of different airports (West Palm Beach yesterday).

Flew out of BDL, Tuesday 8/15 on Delta to ATL. 7:45 AM flight, check-in at the kiosk took less than 5 minutes (this was at 6:15). There seemed to be a longer line / wait at curbside check-in than inside. I would say 20+ groups for curbside. Line for security was backed up past the Delta counter and almost to the the NWA counter, single-file until you approached the main checkpoints. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish to clear security.

If you are flying out between 6:00 - and 8:00 AM, I would give yourself a little extra time for security. Factor in Friday, for a busier than average travel day as well. Hope this helps!
