Hey there!
Just returned Sunday night from our 9day stay at BCV's in a 1 bdrm villa and for all the bad threads I'd read about problems at BCV's you'd never had known it from our trip
We had the most awesome and relaxing stay we've had in yrs this past week!
To start off, we were originally suppossed to arrive on Sat. 9/25 but with the threat of hurricane Jeanne I ended up calling MS around 2pm Fri. afternoon trying to add that night to our ressie as they were predicting for the storm to be arriving somewhere around Sat.afternoon to night. I managed to get one of the last 1bdrms available according to the CM I spoke to and we boarded up the house that night when dh got home around 5pm and left. We arrived at BCV's around 7:15pm and received Welcome home's from both the guard at the gate and the CM checking us in - which was particularly nice to hear this trip with all the running around crazy we did last minute to leave a day early
It was like the official signal to know we can now sit back and totally relax
There was no line at the front desk to check in at all and with all the ressies we had (we had our wknd nights booked with the Member discount in addition to our points ressies and the extra night we added just that day) they were able to link all our ressies and we didn't have to move or check in and out whatsoever! It was wonderful. And best of all was that for checking in so late in the evening we were pleasantly surprised to arrive in our villa (#310 for anyone interested) and absolutely all of our requests had been met
We requested non-smoking,pool view, upper floor, bed rails and a high chair. I expected one or 2 on the list and hoped for the others and was thrilled when we got them all. The villa was in great shape with the exception of the shower handle being a little loose but a call in to engineering had that fixed right away. We were so happy the next day that we checked in on Fri. night too as around 11am the next morning we were passing thru the lobby on our way to SAB (it was windy and overcast but the storm wasn't suppossed to arrive until later that evening) and the lobby was a complete zoo! The line for check in was stretched all the way back past the guest services/concierge counter on the other side of the front doors
So needless to say, we were happy to have had no lines and CM's who weren't quite as crazy busy checking us in the night before.
The next night we were of course informed to please stay in our villa for the next 24hours until the hurricane was over. The worst of the storm came thru in the early morning hours on Sun. but for as bad as it was, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at BCV's again as it was like a fortress! I got up maybe 3 times that night but not because the storm kept me awake - more because I was nosey and wanted to see what it looked like outside. We felt fortuneate all day on Sun. to have been in a 1bdrm as we had plenty of space and food supplies for meals and DVD's and such. I can't imagine how it must have been for some families held up in just a regular hotel room with their kids and barely any space let alone the food situation if you couldn't cook. For us as we live in FLa. it was even better than being at home as we not only had the whole villa but POWER to boot.
The all clear to come out of the rooms came Sunday evening and from Monday on was absolutely gorgeous out! We spent most morning's doing a few hrs at a park and then we'd come back and spend the rest of the day in SAB. We did Crystal Palace,Chef Mickey's,Cape May Cafe' on our DD's 1st birthday - they were so wonderful and had all the characters come sing and brought balloons and a cupcake for her
and we also did O'hana and had a wonderful view of Wishes from our table, the Hoope-De-Doo which I was so happy that not only my 4yr old loved but even the baby was clapping and giggling to, and we also did Cape may for dinner and the Kona Cafe' for dinner as well -- the Kona btw was fantastik! I had the coconut shrimp and scallops --YUMM! and we got a DVC discount at the Kona as well! In between we had lots of breakfasts and dinners at home in the villa as well.
We did the MNSSHP for the first time on Oct.1 (our DD's 1st b-day) . Our 4yr old ds went as Thomas the tank engine and our 1yr old dd was a little strawberry. We all had such a wonderful time!! I can hardly wait for next yrs party now! I couldn't believe how many people were in costume - ADULTS and kids alike. There were hardly any lines on the rides for the amount of poeple at the party and all the extra activites like the parade and fireworks and trick or treating were just wonderful!
I have to say though, the most fun and relaxing time we had was spending time in SAB. My new favorite pool bar drink is a frozen BEACHBALL. They were checking I.D.'s and wristbanding at SAB btw. And of course hanging at the neighborhood Dunes cove pool was just as nice at night. And this past Sunday came sooner than any of us wanted too. But what a wonderful week we had and such a great stay at BCV's!! I would go back anytime! And btw, for anyone who remembered my "I'm such a chicken" thread lol -- The villa didn't seem that much smaller than at OKW at all to my surprise
The only thing I really missed was having an actual laundry room as oppossed to just a closet but not so much for the space but because it was a little noisy when we ran the washer and dryer. But beyond that, I loved it!!
So there ya have it! Sorry this was so long but at least I can say it was a totally positive trip!!
Any questions? Ask away!
