Hey there!

Just returned Sunday night from our 9day stay at BCV's in a 1 bdrm villa and for all the bad threads I'd read about problems at BCV's you'd never had known it from our trip;)

We had the most awesome and relaxing stay we've had in yrs this past week!:teeth:

To start off, we were originally suppossed to arrive on Sat. 9/25 but with the threat of hurricane Jeanne I ended up calling MS around 2pm Fri. afternoon trying to add that night to our ressie as they were predicting for the storm to be arriving somewhere around Sat.afternoon to night. I managed to get one of the last 1bdrms available according to the CM I spoke to and we boarded up the house that night when dh got home around 5pm and left. We arrived at BCV's around 7:15pm and received Welcome home's from both the guard at the gate and the CM checking us in - which was particularly nice to hear this trip with all the running around crazy we did last minute to leave a day early:D It was like the official signal to know we can now sit back and totally relax::yes:: There was no line at the front desk to check in at all and with all the ressies we had (we had our wknd nights booked with the Member discount in addition to our points ressies and the extra night we added just that day) they were able to link all our ressies and we didn't have to move or check in and out whatsoever! It was wonderful. And best of all was that for checking in so late in the evening we were pleasantly surprised to arrive in our villa (#310 for anyone interested) and absolutely all of our requests had been met:cool1: We requested non-smoking,pool view, upper floor, bed rails and a high chair. I expected one or 2 on the list and hoped for the others and was thrilled when we got them all. The villa was in great shape with the exception of the shower handle being a little loose but a call in to engineering had that fixed right away. We were so happy the next day that we checked in on Fri. night too as around 11am the next morning we were passing thru the lobby on our way to SAB (it was windy and overcast but the storm wasn't suppossed to arrive until later that evening) and the lobby was a complete zoo! The line for check in was stretched all the way back past the guest services/concierge counter on the other side of the front doors:eek: So needless to say, we were happy to have had no lines and CM's who weren't quite as crazy busy checking us in the night before.

The next night we were of course informed to please stay in our villa for the next 24hours until the hurricane was over. The worst of the storm came thru in the early morning hours on Sun. but for as bad as it was, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at BCV's again as it was like a fortress! I got up maybe 3 times that night but not because the storm kept me awake - more because I was nosey and wanted to see what it looked like outside. We felt fortuneate all day on Sun. to have been in a 1bdrm as we had plenty of space and food supplies for meals and DVD's and such. I can't imagine how it must have been for some families held up in just a regular hotel room with their kids and barely any space let alone the food situation if you couldn't cook. For us as we live in FLa. it was even better than being at home as we not only had the whole villa but POWER to boot.

The all clear to come out of the rooms came Sunday evening and from Monday on was absolutely gorgeous out! We spent most morning's doing a few hrs at a park and then we'd come back and spend the rest of the day in SAB. We did Crystal Palace,Chef Mickey's,Cape May Cafe' on our DD's 1st birthday - they were so wonderful and had all the characters come sing and brought balloons and a cupcake for her:teeth: and we also did O'hana and had a wonderful view of Wishes from our table, the Hoope-De-Doo which I was so happy that not only my 4yr old loved but even the baby was clapping and giggling to, and we also did Cape may for dinner and the Kona Cafe' for dinner as well -- the Kona btw was fantastik! I had the coconut shrimp and scallops --YUMM! and we got a DVC discount at the Kona as well! In between we had lots of breakfasts and dinners at home in the villa as well.

We did the MNSSHP for the first time on Oct.1 (our DD's 1st b-day) . Our 4yr old ds went as Thomas the tank engine and our 1yr old dd was a little strawberry. We all had such a wonderful time!! I can hardly wait for next yrs party now! I couldn't believe how many people were in costume - ADULTS and kids alike. There were hardly any lines on the rides for the amount of poeple at the party and all the extra activites like the parade and fireworks and trick or treating were just wonderful!

I have to say though, the most fun and relaxing time we had was spending time in SAB. My new favorite pool bar drink is a frozen BEACHBALL. They were checking I.D.'s and wristbanding at SAB btw. And of course hanging at the neighborhood Dunes cove pool was just as nice at night. And this past Sunday came sooner than any of us wanted too. But what a wonderful week we had and such a great stay at BCV's!! I would go back anytime! And btw, for anyone who remembered my "I'm such a chicken" thread lol -- The villa didn't seem that much smaller than at OKW at all to my surprise;) The only thing I really missed was having an actual laundry room as oppossed to just a closet but not so much for the space but because it was a little noisy when we ran the washer and dryer. But beyond that, I loved it!!

So there ya have it! Sorry this was so long but at least I can say it was a totally positive trip!!

Any questions? Ask away!:teeth:

Wow... Disney Magic lives at the BCV's. I'm so glad that you and family had a wonderful vacation. We are heading to the BCV's in November, taking my parents. We can't wait.:D

I always love reading BCV trip reports. It is our home resort, and we have always had great trips there. Our next vacation is at SSR, we can't wait.

Thanks:wave2:

Glad to read another good report on BCV. We've had great stays there as well. Our next is in just 12 days.

I agree about being in a villa during a hurricane. It must be so much more comfortable than a hotel room.

Was your home OK?

Yes our home was just fine ~ Thanks for asking;)

We boarded up and left Friday night and according to family I have in the next neighborhood over, we didn't loose power this time for more than 8 minutes thankfully. I flew up to N.J. to stay with my parents with the kids while dh stayed behind for Frances and Ivan but quite truthfully, aside from loosing power for a day or 2 and some minor yard debris per hurricane we were very lucky as that was our biggest problem. I really feel for those who lost so much here in FL thru all the different hurricanes. :( I feel so blessed that loss of power and a messy yard was the worst affect on our area.::yes::

Have a wonderful trip!! Hopefully we're in the clear now with these awful hurricanes  Enjoy! :wave2:

Great news, Scoootch. You Floridians have been through way too much.

Thanks, for the good wishes.

I felt the same way being at SSR during Jeanne. I half expected the building to sway but SSR was solid too! WDW really took great care of its guest!

Dh and I were in a studio, and I couldnt imagine not having at least a kitchenette.

We will be at BCV next June!

Thank you for posting the positive report about BCV. I have to say - it means even more coming from an OKW owner. Now you know that BCV is up to par (of course recognizing that there have been exceptions....)

Glad you had a great trip.

Thanks for the complete report on your stay at BCV.

We also had a great stay at BCV this past weekend. After 5 nights at OKW (including Jeanne) and a few nites at a convention in Orlando staying offsite, we checked into BCV on Friday fro two nights.

We had a dedicated 2BR and even got our requests (top floor/Epcot view). We had room 542 with a great view of SE from our balconies (three balconies- one for each bedroom and one for the living room). The resort staff was great- Bell staff, valet staff and front desk- and our room was in great condition.

Thanks again for the report! :)

Wow Doc! So cool! We were there at the same time then -- for the weekend anyway;)

Happy you had a great stay too! We had studio #561 (I think it was) with an Epcot view a while back(shortly after BCV's had first opened) for a weekend stay, it must be down the hall from where you just stayed in your 2bdrm.:D I agree, the staff at BCV's was wonderful! I think I've found my 2nd favorite DVC home now. Of course, once I have tried all the DVC's I have a feeling they'll all be one big tie LOL::yes:: :teeth: Must try VWL and BWV's now.....and loved VB this past June.....Okay, suddenly feeling the need for an add-on contract:tongue:

Scoootch -- Thanks! I'm even more excited about our upcoming stay @ BCV with all the recent "positive" posts. Keep 'em coming folks...

Hi,

Thanks for the great report!!

Allison

FAB! Thanks for giving me the link to your report. I always like hearing good things about my home resort! Glad you had a good trip!

Great report! I can't wait to go there in just a few weeks.
What's in a beachball?
My last trip home I discovered the drink Raspberry Rapids at WL. (Pina Colada with chamborge swirled through..yummy!)
How was SAB? I just bought 3 clear tubes for our trip, I can't wait to try them out.

:D The beachball has strawberry dakari, vanilla ice cream, chamborgue and grenadine and is made with the really fine ground ice. I asked for something fruity and that's what they suggested. Only the older CM's who've been working at Hurricane Hannah's seem to know how to make it though ~ ask for Dave (older big guy kind of balding a bit) when dh asked and they didn't know what it was, he steped up and was teaching the other's how to make it afterward:teeth:

SAB was great ~ had such wonderful weather once the hurricane was over. Had some leaves throughout on the bottom because of the storm but CM's were in the pool every day trying to fish them out. They weren't enough to be bothersome though. Have a great time!

BVC is our home resort and we just love it there. We've stayed there four times in the past two years and couldn't be happier with our choice. The proximity to Epcot is the main appeal and we've never had a problem with the accomodations.::MinnieMo
