BCV vs BWV--our comparison from our just back visit

We just got back from a 2 BR dedicated unit at BCV. We own at BWV, and thought someone might be interested in our personal comparison between the two.

What we liked at BCV:
The granite in the kitchen
The separate commode room
The shorter walk from Epcot
The slightly shorter walk to the LAST room at the end of the hall!
It looked fresher-paint, kitchen cabinets, etc. looked to be in better shape than the BW.

What we prefer at BWV:
The shorter walk to the boat dock
The shopping
The street life
The restaurants-especially the Flying fish
The kitchen eating setup
The hotter water in the showers
Not having to go outside to get from the lobby to the units
More balconies-- and they seem bigger than those at BCV.
It's HOME for us!

Our feelings were mixed about the dedicated 2 BR--sometimes it's nice to have a separate outside door for the studio side!
We'd definitely not mind staying there at BCV again and far prefer it to OKW or SSR--we're definitely hotel people.

Don't get to hasty yet. You've got to stay at AKV and BLT and compare. I mean in the intrest of science, you must be thorough.

First BLT stay coming up in December lol. Have to work on AKV after that--love Jiko so we could probably manage there!

Good list. We just got back from a BCV stay after being at BWV the previous few trips. One advantage I really noticed was the easy access to the marketplace. Great for mug people. The health club and main pool, OTOH, less convenient.

We own at the BW and prefer it to every other DVC on Disney property(except BLT). Although, we spent alot of time over at the beach club this past trip. I just loved those Movies on the beach!! It was nice to have some down time in such a lovely setting.

We just came back from BCV. We've been to BWV twice and love both. That being said, the absolute biggest drawback to BWV is the lack of a good counterservice place to eat. We loved having Hurricane Hannah's and BC Marketplace to pick up a quick bite. Dh especially loved the burgers at HHs. He also liked going to pick up coffee at the Marketplace in the am. When he went between 6-7 am, the coffee was free.
That being said, I love the Boardwalk Bakery for danishes for breakfast. I guess I never looked to see if the Marketplace had any.

Overall, we love both and would stay at either in a heartbeat. SAB is great but a lot of work with a child that wants to go on the slide, but isn't big enough to go across the sidewalk alone. I loved the kids sandbar part of the pool though. Dd3, could play in there and I could hang out with dd that is 5 months old in a lounge chair. Its shallow enough that she could play in there alone without someone holding her.
Dd5 loves the clown pool and slide though, and the pool is less work given it's smaller size.
We also love the performers at the BW. Though we can take advantage of the Boardwalk when staying at either resort.

Again, I love them both. We will be trying to get into BWV over MLK in Jan with my parents. Here's hoping for a SV room to save some points.

We've stayed at the BWV a couple of times and stayed at BCV for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We love them both but overall give BWV the edge. I like the more central location between Epcot and DHS, and though SAB is a wonderful pool, it was always crowded and difficult to get a seat, and I don't like the location of HH, being on the other side from most of the pool chairs. The BWV has that wonderful, huge closet, and even my kids prefer the pool slide there over BCV. I like being able to sit fairly close to the pool bar and still see the entire pool.

I recently learned that my Boardwalk view room would not be available due to maintenance and was asked to move over to the BCV. I was hesistant at first but from the above posts, it sounds like it will be lovely.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. :)

Thanks, Appleorchard

I like seeing other's perpective/interpretations of something I've experienced just to see if I've missed something or should maybe give it another try.

What time frame would that be?
You won't be unhappy, BCV is great.;)

Our reservation was for October 23rd through October 25th. We were switching from a two bedroom with friends and their children to a Boardwalk View studio for the weekend and some alone time. :)

Thank you for the assurance that we will enjoy BCV. The evening movies sound like fun. :cool1:

This is so true when the kids are small. I remember trying to keep up with my three by myself and it was exhausting, but now that they are older (16, 12, 11), it is great! I can lounge around, and I will see them every now and them when they pass by. This pool keeps the older kids busy for a very long time.:)

For us, it was a boardwalk view studio Oct 23 through Oct 26 that got canceled. We are also moved to the BCV.

Thanks for the info - very helpful!

We bought BCV resale last year. We've stayed at the hotel once before but this Oct will be our first DVC stay (2 bdr: 3 adults, 1 child) - can't wait to try it!

Did they say how long the renovation will be going on for? We are going the second week of November, and we are on the wait list for BoardWalk view. If it's not going to happen, I am going to change to a standard view and stay an extra couple of days.

This year we are doing the BWV's, and next time we are hoping to get the BCV's. Our home is SSR, but loved to move around. I use to think it's just a room. However, convenience is becoming more of a factor for us. While I love SSR, it can be a pain if you are far away from the pool. Don't get me started on the buses.
