This may be off topic for the DVC board, but I am going to give it a shot.

We will be in the world this year for Valentine's Day. I have not made any PS, because we would not impose on any other vacationer's special time. We will be traveling with our then 23mo ds, who is USUALLY very well behaved in restaurants.

I know that there are some babysitting services available, but not really sure how we feel with leaving our ds with a complete stranger that would not be actually associated with WDW. I am pretty sure that he is too young for the BC child care (is that SandCastle?), besides we have not begun to potty train yet and I hear that that is a necessity.

Thoughts??? We may go offsite to eat, we may spend some time at the MK that night. We will have already done character meals with Mickey and Winne-the-Pooh-and-Friends. Is the Yatchman's Steakhouse kid friendly? How about on a night like Valentine's Day?

Let me guess.... I am over-analyzing this. It is WDW, there are going to kids (young and old-young at heart) everywhere.

Thoughts?

We've successfully used the Kids Night Out service. It's "authorized" by Disney, who lists their phone number within the WDW web site. They send someone who comes to your room. We've gotten trained sitters through them who were not creepy in any way.

We've used Fairy Godmothers twice and been happy with them for our then 1-year-old. We plan to use them again in a couple of weeks when we're at OKW. We spent about a half-hour with each sitter, getting comfortable with them, before we left for the evening. Each time DS was sound asleep when we got home.

That being said, I've seen plenty of small children in the Yachtsmen Steakhouse, one of our favorite restaurants. We took DS when he was five months old, and he slept through dinner (although he woke up -- screaming -- right before we ordered dessert).

I think you can certainly take him with you if you like.

The kids clubs are for 4yrs old and up

We have used Kids Nite Out twice and have been thrilled with the staff sent, efficiency and booking etc. Would recommend them - their offices are actually at Team Disney building as well.

Taking the kids to the restaurant is totally ok at WDW - there are a couple that I do not think work for kids due to atmosphere/menu etc. (Bistro de Paris, Victoria & Albert's, Citrico's maybe some others)

thanks

We used Fairy Godmothers also in 2001 and were very pleased! They licensed and insured. I believe they are all "grandmothers" if you know what I mean. My kids were totally comfortable with her and even asked in the morning where their "new grandma" went! I wouldn't hesitate taking your child to a Disney restaurant either though. Good luck deciding!
