For the first half of our trip next week we are going the no rental car route to see if it is manageable for our family.

We will be staying at BCV and have dinner at Bomas. What's the best way to get there via the Bus system. Or should we just catch a taxi?

Thanks!

There is no way I know of to get to Bomas from BCV. However, if you are interested in going to Boma, the restaurant at AKL, then I can help you. There are three doable ways to do it, depending on how patient and how much energy you have. 1) Walk through Epcot and pick up a bus to AKL from there. 2) Take a boat to MGM or walk to MGM and pick up a bus to AKL in front of MGM. 3) Take a bus to AK and then hop the bus to AKL once you get there. Hope that helps. If you asked which one I would do, I think I would choose the MGM one. To get back from AKL, I would take a bus to MGM and then get back by boat or by walking.

I would not go the taxi route...just because it cost extra $$$. vs. the Disney bus system. From BCV take the bus to any of the theme park...(we preferred going to the Animal K. then from AK...just hope on a bus to AKL/Boma. Or Walk thru Epcot to catch the bus to AKL. Leave with extra time in mind. We got the bus system from BCV about 1 hr. before our dinner res. And if you get there early...enjoy site seeing around AKL.

Personally, I would take a cab. It's going to be so hot next week and the more time you spend walking and on a boat the more sweaty and sticky you will be. We've taken a cab from CSR to AKL and it was only around $8, so it shouldn't be too much more from BCV. Of course, we like to get all gussied up for dinner, so it's a cab for us. ;)

Enjoy Boma! Have a zebra dome for me.

I'm facing this same dilema for my upcoming trip at BCV-how to get to Bomas. I decided to go to a park earlier, bring anything I want/need extra for dinner, then at the end of the day, get on the AKL bus. My dinner time is about 2 hours after the park I intend on visiting closes, but I'll just watch the animals on the savannah.

I would also get a cab. My wife and I did the cab thing last Christmas, as it was the first time we opted out of a rental car.
It seemed like the fee was always $20 plus tip between any two points on property.
In my opinion this is well worth it, especially since there isn't a need for a designated driver... :drinking:

MG

I think this is easy.... is 1 hour on Disney bus worth a $10 cab ride. For me that is an extra hour in the pool or parks!:cool1:

Easy choice for me!!!!

I've got to agree with the advice to use a taxi to get to Boma (no s). It will be much faster and the price isn't bad.

Why not just go directly from a park to ALK? Spend the early afternoon @ a park and bus directly to Boma. It's not a signature restaurant, so there is no real need to shower and get dressed up.

You could also walk from BCV through EPCOT and catch a bus directly to AKL @ the front gate.

Thank you for the replies!

Our dinner ressie is at 8:00 pm so right now I'm leaning towards getting on the AKL bus from either Epcot or MGM. But if the kids are cranky...taxi may be the way to go.

I have to say that I am getting a bit nervous about not having a car for our first 6 days. :scared1: If it was just DH and myself...then no problem. But with 3 kids ages 11, 9, & 3 I'm a bit worried.

Thanks again.

Boma is one of my favorite restaurants and is well worth the extra effort to get there. When I have stayed at BCV or BWV, I usually take the boat to MGM and then the bus direct to AKL and usually allow an hour to get to AKL.
If I arrive early for the ADR, then I have extra time to explore AKL.:goodvibes

OOps sorry I didn't read the whole thread. My post about getting to BOMA has already been covered. Whatever method you decide to use to get to BOMA, I'm sure you will enjoy AKL and BOMA.

We are staying at BCV and eating at Bomas in October. Of course we will have our vehicle there so no delima here.

My recommendation. Get a rental car sooner or take a cab. The transportation system is great if your going from park to resort, or resort to park. But it really is pretty bad when going from resort to resort. Last time we went to the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian and it was great, but the transportation was a nightmare. When we came out of the dinner show many people were waiting for the buses which were only going to downtown disney, we had to wait a long time to get on the bus, and then when we got to downtown disney it was closing so we had to wait a long while to get a bus to our resort. If you do use the transportation system make sure that you know it well, know when the parks close, when the buses stop running. In our case we could have jumped on the monorail and gone to MK or Epcot to get a bus, but it was late, and we didn't know when the parks closed that day, or when the buses stopped running from the parks. Our plan at this point is just eat at the parks / resort we are staying at, unless we have a rental car.

I agree here.

I have always been very strictly tied to Disney transportation, and the boat rides and monorail rides can be very fun. I would boat to MGM and bus to AKL.

However, our off-property stay last New Year's taught me that getting anywhere you want to go on property in less than 10 minutes can be very magical and worth the extra money on occasion as compared to long walks or standing at bus stops.
