Hi everyone,

Quick dining question. Would you rather have a seafood dinner at Cape May Cafe or Captain's Grille? Captain's Grille has several seafood offerings, including fish, crab cakes and snow crab legs, and we are wondering if these entrees are better than the Cape May Cafe buffet.

Thanks,
Jim

We would rather go to Cape May. We have eaten there many times and the meal has always been very good.

We ate at Captain's Grille a few trips ago because everyone calls it a hidden gem, and we were so disappointed. Crab cakes were terrible (although I am from Maryland so not sure why I ordered crab cakes in FL), and the rest of my family said the food was not great, and we had terrible service as well.

But, we don't really like Cape May either! I haven't been there for 3-4 years but I found the buffet entirely chaotic and poorly organized (in terms of approaching the buffet and how they were trying to establish some sort of queue in front of the buffet). The food was fine, desserts were good, service was average. I left with an overall stressed out and kind of chaotic feeling.

So all that said, I would walk over to Flying Fish.

Like the Crew Cup's mussels - also liked the mussels at BOG - large enough serving for dinner.

I believe it all comes from the same kitchen.

Cape may is good if you want to stuff yourself

Captains table has great service and is relaxing

I do not think the food is the deciding factor

Cape May used to be good. Now, it is ok. We dined there last night and were not impressed

I have wondered if the two locations share a kitchen and, specifically, if it would be better to get the snow crab legs and corn on the cob for $29.99 at Captain's Grille.

Some of the snow crabs were cold the other night at cape may.

As a previous poster suggested, I would take a little boat ride or walk to Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. You can't go wrong there with the food and service. I was not a fan of either of the BC options the OP asked about. Also not a big fan of Blue Zoo. Food was okay, but overpriced for the quality you got.

Have eaten at both. Liked Cape May. Would eat there again. Liked Captains for breakfast but not so much for dinner. Service was very good but the food was mediocre at best. As another poster mentioned Flying Fish is always good and only a short walk from the Beach Club.
