We're not DVC but we booked BCV since it was the only one open with AP rate for our time frame and we wanted BC.

Anyway, we're 2 adults, and 2 boys and I booked the studio. My question is... How comfortable is the sofa bed? Is it a think mattress or can you feel the springs?

The kids are going to be ecstatic as it is to get to sleep on a sofa bed, but I worry that it's going to be lumpy and hard.

Also, how is the laundry room at BCV? How many washers/dryers are in there, and are they the same cost as the BC laundry?

TIA.

I wish my DD was more thrilled about sleeping on the sofabed....But, by the end of each day, she's too tired to care about how comfy it is.

If you think your kids will be happy about sleeping there, then don't stress over the mattress. They're not bad at all.

I can't answer your question about how many washers & dryers except for the fact that they don't cost a thing...... (at least they didn't last time my hubby did the laundry)

There was recently a thread saying how awful the sofa beds at BCV were. I personally don't know, but you may want to call to get an egg crate or some sort of matress pad that you can get from mousekeeping, if any are left that night.

I slept on the sofa bed in August and had no problem with it. Of course it wasn't a "heavenly bed", but I honestly have had MUCH worse. We were in a studio... The washers and dryers are free... I believe there were only 2 washers and 4 dryers. It was nice though, they had a couple of chairs and a tv set to watch while you were waiting.

My 15 year old son thought it was very uncomfortable, even with the egg crate they supplied at our request.

What surprised me was how short the sofa bed was (never slept on one, so I guess I didn't know what to expect). I'm only 5'4" and unless I slept at an angle, my feet hung off the bed.

thanks guys. I didn't know the washer & dryers were free! That's awesome.

I think I'll just see how it goes. The boys are only 7 and 4 so I'm hoping they'll be too tuckered out at night to care if the bed's a tad springy or lumpy.

Looks like I'll be doing one last laundry before we go home if the laundry is free. They should be putting that in all the resorts, not just the DVCs! :rotfl:

DS13 just said the BCV pullout was more comfortable than the VWL because the BCV was more flexible than the VWL.
Personally I would have thought he'd like the VWL pullout better.

Our godchild (9 y.o.) slept on the sofa bed when we were at BCV in June and he complained about how uncomfortable it was. I would definitely request an egg crate when you check in. This seemed to help a bit. As far as the washers and dryers, there are 2 washers and 4 dryers which take approximately 30 minutes each to complete their cycles. Detergent, bleach, fabric softener, etc is $1 per package. I used the laundry facilities when we were there last week. It was very convenient. Annmarie

We just got back from BCV last week. Our six and two year old sons shared the sofa bed and never complained about it being uncomfortable. They are usually so tired by bedtime that it doesn't matter where they sleep!

I think the laundry facilities is one of the big perks of DVC. We end up packing VERY light and do a load every other day. We pack all clean clothes for the trip home, and it makes unpacking so easy. Don't worry about lines at the laundry room, because most of us will have laundry facilities inside our units, so only those staying in a studio will be using the laundry room.

At the end of August my almost 13 year old, 5 foot 8, about 120 pound son slept on the sofa bed and said it was just ok. It did seem to sink in the middle. I offered to ask about getting an egg crate for him, but he said it was ok without it. He managed fine for 8 nights. Personally I think your children are young enough and as others said, should be tired enough to do just fine in the beds. Good Luck and have fun!! :flower:

I was just wondering if anybody took the mattress off the sofa frame and put it on the floor? Maybe that would help. :cool1:

some suggestions were to put it on the floor, and to get the kids to sleep sideways than the bar will not be in their back all night...i have heard they are terrible.. but i have heard they are being replaced....
