I'm not even sure where to start with my report...
We left around noon on the 21st. We decided 2 days before we left to try to drive all the way on Friday as DH is not very busy at work and could leave much earlier than we had planned. We had a very stressful week before we left. DD 14months is having some health issues, and we had spent a couple of days at a childrens clinic having blood tests, ultrasound, and examinations on her. For now, everything seems okay, and they are going to continue to monitor her blood in a couple of months to rule out any blood disorders. Anyway, we were ready to get out of town, and enjoy our vacation. I called WDW Wednesday to see if we could add on a night at PopCentury for Friday as we were already scheduled to stay there on Sat. They told me nothing was available. I called again around 10:45pm. and a very nice CM found us a room and even gave us the same discount rate we already had for Saturday. We left Friday and arrived at Pop around 9:30 p.m. . We thought the resort was cute and enjoyed our stay there. Saturday, we went to SSR to check out the new DVC digs, and were really impressed! I can honestly say that when DVC announced the resort, that I was not at all excited about the location, but after visiting I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. It is really beautiful, and the DVC sales center is awesome!! I would really like to stay there!!:hyper: After this point the story turns slightly sour. We checked in to BCV Sunday around 1:00. I was told our room was ready, so we headed right on to the grocery store to get some snacks and then arrived back at our room around 2:00. We had a dedicated studio room 563. It had an awesome view of Epcot, and that is about the only good thing I can say about this room. After entering the room,(we didn't have our luggage, because it was being transfered from pop century) I immediately noticed trash on the carpet. It was like small pieces of paper and plastic and a bobby pin laying right in the middle of floor that I picked up just before my 14month old found it. I kind of started scanning the room, there was hair in the sink, the tub and all over the bathroom floor. None of the surfaces had been wiped down, there was dust and something that looked like donut glaze stuck to the coffee table. There were cob webs growing from the curtains to the wall. The walls appeared worn with many grunge spots, and there was a chunk of drywall missing from the edge of the wall next to the bed. I started to wonder if the room had been cleaned at all. I pulled back the comforter to make sure that the sheets were clean, they appearred to be. I decided to call housekeeping. Just so that you understand, I have never complained about a hotel room anywhere that I have stayed. I am not exaggerating what this room looked like. It was obvious that the room had not had a deep cleaning in a while. The kitchen cabinets had grunge in all the creases and the baseboards all over the room needed vacuuming and cleaning. The baseboard in the closet needed reglued to the wall as it was all coming away from the sheetrok. Anyway, I phoned housekeeping and told them that the room needed to be recleaned and vacuumed. As I was on the phone with housekeeping, someone knocked at the door, it was a gentleman with a carpet cleaner saying the carpet needed to be steam cleaned, and he said that someone would be coming from housekeeping to take care of the other problems. So we left our room and went down to walk around the resort and check out the surrounding area. We came back to the room about an hour later, the carpet had been steam cleaned(still very wet), and the sink and tub had been rinsed out. The hair still remained on the bathroom floor as well as the surfaces still needed to be wiped down. We were anxious to get our luggage and get out of our clothes that we had been wearing, so I let it go for the moment. We changed clothes and then headed to SAB. I went by the guest services desk and expressed my concerns about the unclean room. I was very polite and just asked that they schedule a full cleaning for the room on Monday to take care of the issues that had still not been taken care of since the phone call. He said he would take care of it.That night we pulled out the sofa for my DD's. They both started complaining about how uncomfortable it was. I remembered that PamOKW had posted about a similar incident with her room before. So sure enough I pulled back the sheets and the mattress was upside down. The side that was clearly marked"this side UP" was upside down. So I had to flip the mattress and remake the bed. Monday was my DD8 birthday, we headed out for the pirate cruise at the GF that morning, ended up with dinner at chef mickey's at 5:00 and then headed back to the room around 7:00pm. Guess what , NOTHING had been done to the room. At this point I was really getting aggravated. I sent DH to swim with the kids, and I headed down to the front desk. I asked for a manager, and the girl at the front desk returned with the housekeeping manager. I politely explained to her about the problems with the room, she apologized several times offered us dinner. I told her that we had already eaten at Chef mickey's and she offered to comp our dinner. I told her it wasn't necessary I just wanted the room to be cleaned. She said she wanted to send someone right away to the room. I told her if she did it immediately , that would be fine. I just didn't want my girls to get out of the pool and be stuck in wet suits and not be able to get back into the room. They sent a housekeeper to the room, she wiped down the surfaces(finally, no donut glaze) left clean towels, turned back our bed, but never touched the bathroom floor!!UGGH!! I give up! They did send a nice tray of cookies and milk to the room and she did comp our meal at chef mickeys even though I told her it was not necessary. All really nice things, but all I wanted was a clean room. Tuesday, we headed to MK, it was sweltering hot and I didn't really feel all that well. I was having several pains in my side, but tried to put on a happy face for the kids and move on. By 9:45 the pain was killing me and I though I was going to pass out, I told DH that something was wrong and we were going to have to leave. We headed back to the front of the park and he went into guest services and within minutes the paramedics arrived to greet me. By this time I wasn't hurting as bad as I had been back in fantasyland. We decided to have guest services drive us back to our room and get our own car and then go to the emergency room. We were escorted out of the backside of the MK behind city hall and driven out the CM area to BCV. I asked the wonderful lady that drove us if this was what you got to see on the behind the scenes tour. She said we were seeing more than they ever get to see. Great! What a way to get to see it! Anyway, we got in our car, drove to the Celebration Hospital emergency room, and proceeded to wait for 5 hours until they had an empty room. The guy working the ER said all the ER's in the area were slammed. I told DH to head back to the hotel with the girls and I 'd call him when I finally got to room. Anyway after xrays, ultasound and bloodwork, they decided that I had a cyst that had burst, by this time it didn't even hurt anymore. What a day! The guest services at MK gave us replacement tickets for the day, which was really nice, I can't say enough about how nice they were to my family that day. They rest of our trip was tampered with another trip to the walk in clinic for DD 14 months because of fever . 2 episodes of vomiting on Sat. and Sun. by DD 4 and DD 14 months, and DH also had the stomach bug on Sunday. This was the trip that I had demanded that everyone stay well! All and all we still had a good time, believe it or not. We did several things on this trip that we hadn't tried like FW pony rides, putt-putt golfing, TL. I wouldn't say that we won't stay at BCV again, but it will be awhile before it will be our choice again. This is of course MHO but I don't think that BCV is maintained as it should be. They hallways all looked like they needed cleaning during our trip. Lots and lots of scuff marks, it just looked like someone should be vacuuming and touching up the halls. I know this sounds trivial, but the same twist tie and chewed gum was on the floor of the elevator the entire time we were there. While over at BC we saw tons of wet paint signs and evidence that the common areas were being maintained. I just got the picture that the villas look much older and worn than they should at this point. Again, your mileage may vary. DH and I both commented that we were glad that our points were not at this resort. We finished off our stay with 3 nights at POFQ which was very nice and I had no complaints. Sorry this post is so long, I was just trying to be complete with the details. Hopefully our next trip will be better!

We have seen reports like this before at BCV. The positive thing is they tried to solve it and paid for your meal. A lot of people will say they have stayed there with no problems, but I must say no one should have to go through this. There should be someone supervising these cleanings. The pile of dirt and paper clip could have been left when housekeeping shut of vacuum cleaners and the stuff fell out of it. At any rate it should not happen, end of story. Sorry to hear about your health problems at WDW, that can happen to anyone.

Sorry your having such a tough time:( . I hope more importantly everything turns out well for your little princess. I'll say a prayer for her.

Our 1 BR at VWL a week ago had a bad odor, had not been vacuumed, and had a little trash scattered in the BR. We had housekeeping come in and fix the odor (rotten kitchen smell) while we went out to eat the first night. Part of a vacuum cleaner had been left there, so maybe they just forgot to finish before we moved in. I could not tolerate a dirty bathroom, however -- hair, UGH!

We also spent a day at Urgent Care (DH sinus infection.) It would be much more difficult to have sick children on vacation, or sick mama. I hope you have an opportunity to visit WDW again soon!

I've never been able to figure out how management thinks a free meal is a bandage for a dirty room. They did the same thing to us at VWL last year. I want a clean room, I'll pay for my own dinner.

Yikes. I'm sorry about your trip. Please, please, please share your comments to DVC with a letter. I own at BCV and these type of reports really worry me. Hope everyone is feeling better!

Wow...what a trip! Just think, you got all the illness over in one trip so the rest of your trips should be healthy!!

The room situation sounded very frustrating. I am not one to complain about things either, but there is a limit to what one is willing to put up with. We've stayed at the BCV twice and both times it appears that the bathroom floors had not been swept or cleaned.

I hope you were able to bring home some happy memories!! Thanks for the report!

Glad you provided this information. My home resort is BCV and this troubles me. I too have read many such reports on the resort.

I have had 4 trips to OKW, 1 to BCV and 1 to VB. I can honestly say that the service at BCV was not up to par with the other 2 resorts I stayed at.

While I think it is great you post this info I think Jim Lewis and the DVC management team should hear it as well.

The BCV is a lovely resort and we are very proud we bought in. But, if service is an issue, it is an issue and should be addressed! Mr. Lewis can only address problems he knows about - thus - please provide him this information.

Hope things are going well for all at home!

I agree that you should follow-up with letters to the management of both the BC and DVC Membership. Hopefully this will help to improve either the cleaning process checklist or the follow-up once a complaint has been make. Maybe both!

Also sorry to read about your and the little one's health issues. That certainly can put a crimp in a vacation. Glad that overall your family was able to enjoy the vacation.

Fingers crossed that your next trip will be "Magical" in every way.:wizard:

Firstly, I sure hope that all is well with you, and your Family now, sorry to hear about the health issues.:(

Secondly, this is starting to get alittle scarry!!! In a couple of months, we will be taking our first trip to WDW, as new DVC members. We bought @ SSR, but are staying @ BCV first time out!

Hope we didn`t make a mistake!! The scarriest thing ,is that we asked for an epcot view, on an upper Floor. I hope I don`t see the same strand of hair in the bathroom!!:crazy2:

Stay Well!

What a shame you had a dirty room...it is inexcusable. I have read similar reports, and I was so concerned that I called Member Services to discuss this with them before our trip last December. I asked that my room be inspected by a supervisor prior to occupancy...this is a little ridiculous, but we had friends with us making their first ever trip to WDW. I wanted to make a good impression after all the wonderful things I had said about WDW and DVC.

Anyway, PLEASE call Member Services and discuss your experience. That is the only way it will change.

I have stayed at the BCV three times, and my villas have always been spotless although the furniture and rugs do look worn.

Finally, I am glad you salvaged your trip in spite of room and health issues...what a great attitude you have! Sandie B

Thanks for all the well wishes for my little one! Obviously every thing else pales in comparison.

I have every intention of discussing our experience with someone at DVC. I just think that someone needs to be checking on the situation. I have gone over the whole thing in my mind several times. I know that the color scheme is lighter , which might account for all the scuffs being so noticeable. I am all in favor of not having every day housekeeping, but I do wonder if it leaves less of an opportunity for the rooms to ever get a good deep cleaning. I wonder if our checking in on Sunday(with the high turnover rate) gave us a worse chance at getting a clean room.

The bathroom floor tiles are kind of that beige color, which to me doesn't help it look any cleaner. It was obvious that on occasion the floor had been mopped but not swept before hand as evidenced by the line of hair around the edge of the floor! Gross, I know!

I didn't mention in the original post that the balcony was really nasty. I also wondered if the grime build up was worsened by being next to the road. It needed a good powerwashing.

Anyway, just more thoughts as they came to me. Thanks for all your posts, and again, I fully intend to have a conversation with someone at DVC tomorrow. I'll keep you posted about the outcome.

Your story sounds like something out of a nightmare.I would have thought you have a gray sky following you on this trip.Sorry that nothing went right.Let us know about the little girl because thats more important the anything else.

During our Easter stay at BWV we had to wait til 4 because the room was being cleaned--well it must have been someone else's room. Balcony littered with cigarette butts, sink in Kitchen dirty, along with bathroom floor and countertop. Every corner of every room and closet had 2 inches of something growing in it. the one phone--2 bedroom--did not work and the lock on bathroom door was broken, but the icing on the cake was when I went to throw away a kleenex and was greeted by a full trash container from the previous guest. They fixed the phone right away-never fixed lock. After 1 phone call and visit to front desk they came and took away garbage. Front desk CM acted like it was no big deal and they never cleaned the room--UGH. Wrote a letter and got a phone call from someone who apologized and said that isn't the level of service they provide--but I'm starting to wonder. It seems to me after staying numerous times on points and paying that if I was paying--not that we haven't paid for the points-I would have gotten more action.
Sorry to hear you had a similar experience and then got sick besides. They don't get it that you want a clean room is right. The phone call doesn't make it better.

Sorry to hear of your vacation troubles. I too would have been annoyed.
It definately is not fun to be sick in a hotel room.
I hope everything works out well for your littlest DD.

I have not had a chance to post our trip report yet and am in the process of writing DVC and DCV a letter. We were in rooms 558 & 560. Too many problems to list here but I made several comments to the front desk about the lobby buttons not lighting up in the BCV elevators. Each time, I was told they would send Engineering to take a look but we were there for 5 days and they were never fixed!

BCV is our home resort and I was disgusted by some of the things we found including people at the front desk who really didn't want to hear us! I don't usually complain but this trip there were too many things not to complain about. Housekeeping did not do a good job in our wing of the building!

We too called about the buttons not lighting and were given the same story - not very impressive indeed

thanks

We also noticed that the hallways and elevators need some work - starting to get dirty and grungy - chipped drywall, dirty rug areas, beaten up elevator floors and walls - someone at DVC starts to need and hold the BC/YC resorts responsible for keeping things in top shape.

You do not see this type of stuff walking down the hallways of BC or YC

thanks
