BCV Rooms - any refurb? Best request for 3 rooms (or do they still take those?)

I just made ressies for July 2022 for BCV, mainly based on proximity to parks (lots of transit options, including by foot which is awesome) and use of SAB. We are BWV owners and while I do love a 2BR dedicated room (versus lock off) - on this trip, we are also getting studios for each of our 2 newly married sons. My spouse and I spent a few nights in a BCV studio last year right after the Covid closures... we hadn't stayed at BCV since maybe 2008 and I gotta say, the room looked pretty tired (lots of dings, scuffs, scrapes, stains). It just didn't seem as well appointed as some of the other resort rooms we've enjoyed, and not that different from a generic hotel "suite" type room. In fairness - we had just moved over from a huge poly studio with a lake view, so maybe that was giving us some bad bias, lol. I guess we thought they might have used the Covid period to "freshen up" whatever hotels they were opening that summer... but it certainly didn't seem to be the case. When was the last refurb at BCV - 2017? When is it due again?

As for what room to request - we made no request for our studio except "top floor"... and that's what we got, though it was just a view of trees. Not horrible... but nothing to write home about. It was near elevator so that was good. While the app limits what you can request - Is it true BCV no longer accepts a request of "EPCOT view"... is any particular view requestable, or is it just logistical now (top or bottom, near elevator or away)? Is best option just try to get as high a floor as possible, so that whatever we are looking at, at least it is from a distance, lol? I don't necessarily think we have to be RIGHT next door to each other... though I wouldn't want us on opposite ends of its horseshoe / Y-shape structure. But it WOULD be good if whatever one son's room faces... so does the other! Can't play favorites, lol. My family has stayed in nearly all the DVC resorts....and we love them all for various reasons. Most recently, they joined us for stays in AKL-K, BLT, and a wonderful BW-GV. That last one is unfair competition, I know... just would be good to feel like my rationale on resort choice was solid and the rooms will not disappoint. :scared:

No, BCV has not been refurbished and is not on an announced schedule to see work.

BCV views are mostly pretty eh. It was built on an old CM parking lot. There is a reason views are not bookable.

If you want the 3 units close to one another, that really needs to be your only request.

I was under the impression that last December at the DVC meeting it was announced that BCV would be undergoing a soft goods refurb in Spring 2022. Do you know if that changed?

At yesterday's condo meeting the only refurb mentioned for 2022 was VWL. They did not name or commit to anything else.

OP, also, there is not an "Epcot" view. Trees and the event, group bldg, whatever it is called, block the Epcot view. If you can avoid the busy road view and sound, that would be something to aim for.
The quiet pool is nice area.

Is the quiet pool area actually quiet? Seems to me, given the shape of the building around it, it might be a bit of a sound amplifier, even if people weren't being TOO rowdy in the pool.

For a number of years I always requested quiet pool view and it was quiet. However, a recent stay had a couple of families being loud into the evening. I now ask for woods view.

No request this May trip. Spun the wheel and received dedicated one bedroom overlooking the leisure pool on 5th floor. Was real nice. Could tell villa walls received recent painting. Groundskeepers are painting outdoor sections daily. The resort is currently beautiful.

That's encouraging (re: fresh paint)! It had looked rather tired in 2020.

For the pool view - it wasn't too loud at night?

I try not to be TOO particular in my choices, and was thinking I might ask for "please keep rooms close, if possible; 2BR Dedicated as 2 Queen option; upper floor, resort or woods view, away from elevator" because at least that avoids the road view/ noise (and elevator shaft) without actually being too far from elevator or stairs. I was afraid if I said "pool view" it could possibly mean being all the way out on that longer wing towards the parking lot. We are booked for a 2BR dedicated and 2 studios.

Honestly though... with 3 rooms... I guess I'll be fortunate if they can just get us on same floor. If I include "pool view", that opens up options on the other side of the hallway, which might make getting us on one floor more doable. I'm just worried one studio will be significantly superior to the other... and my sons will privately take issue over which one of them got the "better deal", lol.

We had no pool noise issues. The pools are all open until 11pm and it was usually empty late. To me the hallway walking to an elevator or stairway didn’t feel long. A year ago we had the road and tree side 448 and enjoy it too. This trip was 538. For the bus stop, both ends of the crescent part, on the pool side are just as close. That pool side does get the warm afternoon sun. We weren’t in the room too much but did keep the shades closed to help with cooling. With the multiple villas, proximity to each other might be the best request. I don’t think there is really any disappointing floor or view here. Hope it’s as wonderful of a trip as we had. No alligators seen, but two turtles in that waterway were fun to watch.

For the 2-bedroom villa, did you book dedicated or lock-off?

I thought all of the dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV had 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Since the refurb, this is correct.
Good to know... one less thing to have to request! Need to update the maps that are still being used across multiple sites to identify room options (i.e., that same set of maps that shows locations of room types, floors, relative "views" like Beach Club, woods, pool, etc., and the stairs/elevator locations.

I'd be in for a definite battle between my 13 yr old son and 22 yr old daughter if it came down to a bed vs sleeper sofa. The son is about to pass his sister in height... but she has him beat in age and speed, lol.

If you're looking at Touring Plans - they sometimes are not accurate regarding DVC rooms.

I might ask for "please keep rooms close, if possible
You could Chat/email/call MS, give them all the confirmation numbers, and ask them to put a "traveling with" notation on all three confirmations. That's the best way to let the room assigners know to put you as close together as possible. I like to email with that request, since it keeps all the information together. And as always, "it's just a request"!

That soft goods refurb is listed as something for 2022, but I haven't seen or heard any update. I am really hoping they do the fold down queen bed like they did at Poly, though. That would be fantastic.

We just did a split stay at VGF and BCV (two bedroom). We still prefer BC over GF but holy cow, what a difference in room quality when moving from the GF to the BC. Room at GF was so much nicer.
