My DH and I are thinking about joining the DVC and we have several questions about this particular resort. First- does anyone have any photos of the inside of the rooms and the resort? Is the quality of the structure and the atmosphere good, better or worse then the other DVC properties? Do they share pools with the Y&BC? We have been thinking for several years now about joining- (I know- we'd better get a move on!) We know we want an EPCOT Resort. We actually were waiting for the BCV to start selling, but now that they're selling, we're wondering if it's worth the extra$$$ to go with BCV or pay less and buy resale at BWV. Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other? Is there an advantage of buying the newer vs. the older? Last, but not least- do you miss staying at the regular WDW resort hotels??? I know you can stay with your points- as long as they don't have a DVC attached to them, but those are the ones I love the most! Thanks for your help- and I'm sure that I'll be visiting thisForum a lot more now that we are seriously looking to buy before the summer!

Newer vs older is really not an issue. All the DVC resorts are well maintained and the BWV is currently undergoing a rehab. Which resort is better can really only be answered by each individual person. They are all excellent resorts and each offers their own wonderful perks that can not be found at the others. For me, an Epcot resort is extremely important, so this automatically makes the BWV and BCV better resorts that OKW or VWL in my eyes.

Personally, from what I've read and looked at with BCV, I am glad I own BWV. I am less than enthused with what I've read about the motion controlled thermostats in the BCV units. I also feel that the BCV is kinda tucked away and hidden behind the Beach Club. Any Epcot view is also a nice road view with the busses driving by. While looking at the road doesn't really bother me, if I had a choice, I would naturally prefer looking down on the Boardwalk. However, if the pool is important to you, then BCV will beat every other resort hands down!!

Like you, we waited for BCV to open even though BWV were available cheaper.

If you like to be very close to the action, but also have the option of getting away from it all, BCV has a nice country club type atmosphere. BWV seem to have more of a continual 'where's the party' atmosphere. Some people like that and some don't. We prefer the more relaxing atmosphere at BCV.

The two primary advantages of BCV over BWV are a) the pool and b) the closer proximity (3 minute walk) to Epcot. I personally feel that people who tend to go in the warmer months will probably be happier at BCV whereas winter travellers may prefer BWV due to the better view selection.

For example, we go in May and October. Both are good swimming months and also the Flower show and the Food and Wine Festival are held during these months in Epcot. So we really take advantage both of SAB and the super proximity to Epcot. It is magical to be that close to Epcot, you feel like you are part of the park.

If you go during swimming months you will be amazed at how much time you spend at SAB. There are certainly pools in the real world which have more exotic features than this pool, yet (even pool afficianados that we are) we have yet to find a pool that so beautifully accomodates and delights the entire family.

We always stayed at the Beach or Yacht club so we don't really have anything to miss at BCV.

Perhaps I am oversimplifying, but I'd say if you have a family and go during the swimming months, go for BCV, you won't regret it. If you are going just as a couple or just during the winter months, think about BWV.

If you have this luxury, don't sweat the cost difference. When you spread the cost difference over 40 years, you can see that it is worth buying where you want to be.

Good luck with your decision. Both are wonderful resorts!

Well, here's a link to some photos for you:

I personally think the BCV are better than BWV at least for us. The BCV had a slower more relaxed feel to them. There are more interior spaces available for the afternoon Florida rains or those winter cold spells with the Solarium, Drawing room, Breezway, and larger internal BC lobby areas. The harpest playing music in the BC lobby over christmas was very nice.

The room layout is much improved over the BWV layout in my opinion. WE had 7 people comfortably eating breakfast around the dining area table. We really lliked the new bathroom layout with the separate toilet area. We also like the theming of the resort much better than BWV. You can tell it is newer. The separate pool is very nice, we have been very pleased with our purchase at BCV over BWV. We found the view overlooking the pool area to be very nice and very quiet. We also really like the walk along the beachfront area looking across the lake towards the Boardwalk area over and above the opposite view. It's nice to sit on the swings in the sandy beach area or sit on the lounge chairs in the evening looking across the lake instead of the boardwalk seating areas for us. The store is more accessible for snacks and gift items at BCV. There's also the nice walk over to the YC lobby if your looking for something different inside to enjoy. Beaches and Cream is pretty good, try a kitchen sink sometime.

I know BWV owners love thier resort, there is much to like about BWV, including the nicer views of crecent lake, and the community hall and the activities there, which BCVs didn't have. There are also the advantages of using standard points to stretch your points further than BCVs. The prices at BWV are also more attractive with the availability of resales and having more units. And a big plus, is the availability of 3 bedroom grand villas at the BWV, a major omission in BCVs, and a great BWV advantage. You need the 11 month window to be able to reserve one of those. BCV owners won't be able to reserve one of those.

But the clown carney theme isn't as desirable for us as the beach theme, I don't tend to associate a circus with a clean envronment, and kindness toward animals, but that'ws probably just me. We find the BCV more attractive, more restful, and with more ammeneties that we are looking for.

You may want to consider renting some points and staying at both resorts to help you make up your mind. Both are wonderful and have nice advantages.

During our stay, we found some of the criticism of BCV to be overstated. Water pressure wasn't a problem for us. Our view was wonderful, as was the nice accessibility to the parking lot, closer access to the busses. Cooridors weren't as long as BWV because it is smaller. I like BCV having three elevators, in two separate locations twoards either end of the resort to better accomodate going to the BC activities or getting to your car and the bus area. We also prefer the choices of restaraunts on the BCV side over the Boardwalk side, but either is a nice boat ride or short walk away, providing a nice assortment for the entire crescent lake area. Stopping in at the Dolphin eateries is also nice, they have some great selections. I alos found out at my last trip that the store/buffeteria in the Dolphin is open 24 hours, which provides an option after other stores close for those willing to take a short walk over there should some personal item or snack be needed. I was sufferring from a cold, so it was nice to know that if I really needed cold medicine and didn't want to drive, it was available.

As far as missing other Disney resorts, we've found the location of both BWV and BCV to be the most desirable for us. We tend go to Epcot in the evenings for dinners, so a morning bus ride to MK is no problem, leaving a more leasurely walk to Epcot available for the eveninings. The nice air conditioned boats that go to MGM also seem nicer, cooler and more safe with young kids than the other resort boats, but that may just be us. It's nice to have Jellyrolls a short walk or boatride away as well.

I don't know if that perspective helps your decision, best wishes with your purchase. Take your time, check it out, no need for purchase regret. And of course, you can try out all the resorts in the 7 month window. Pick the one you want to stay at the most during the peak periods, those are the tougher reservations to get.

I think that DVC is better than staying in a regular room. I get all the feel and amenities of the regular resort plus my own, little apartment and other perks.

I always feel like I am an integral part of the resort in any of the DVC properties (and we have stayed in them all).

Personally, I missed the large, walk-in closet during our BVC stay.

great description of BCV, desparado! i was floundering between BWV (where we own & have stayed), or BCV (where we bought sight unseen, simply cos YC/BC are our fav resorts).
looks like BCV wins!! (YAHOO!! :) )

karebear1 ~ we like to stay at one of the deluxes on the way-too-many-points fri & sat nights (we enjoy "trying out" resorts), then transferring to a DVC resort for the balance of our vacation (this year, it'll prob be the GF). just a suggestion, tho: stay at the non-DVC resort first; the difference between a regular resort room & a villa is HUGE.

THanks everyone for your great responses and the links to pics of the BCV! I ceratinly must say that you all sound very excited and pleased to be a part of the DVC. My worries about missing the regular resorts at WDW are somewhat gone and a lot of my worries about BCV are gone simply by reading what you had to say. I do have another question ( and probably a million more as i go on!) At the BCV's - what are the drawing room, breezeway and solarium used for? Are they accessible to the public for public use anda where are they located? One more question- Where is checkin for BCV's? THANKS!

Check in for BCV is at the BC front desk. The breezeway is really part of the BC hotel right before the diagonal walkway between the resorts. It is a nice lounge area if you are waiting for a ride, etc. The drawing room is off the entry lobby of the villas and also has a door to the pool. The solarium is to the right of the entry and has a nice size tv in it.

My worries about missing the regular resorts at WDW are somewhat gone ....
We waited to join DVC for 10 years and finally bought BCV this year (resistance is futile :) ). We loved staying at the regular resorts, too. But as nice as the Polyesian and Contemporary (favorite resorts of ours) are, it's going to be hard to go back after staying at the villas. So far, we have stayed in 2 BR units at HHI, OKW and BCV. DH says he doesn't want to stay in a regular room anymore...
This may sound controversial, but DH didn't understand why OKW costs fewer points than BCV when there is so much more space at OKW (and he could park his car right out front). Of course, I pointed out that we didn't move our car for 3 days when staying at BCV--and only a 10min walk over to EPCOT to go have dinner at the World Showcase...

Great description, I believe the names are just a little mixed up though -

The solarium is really part of the BC hotel right before the diagonal walkway between the resorts. It is a nice lounge area if you are waiting for a ride, etc. (and lots of windows, couches and chairs. One set of doors goes out the the valet area, another to the BCV building with a sort outdoor walk and a hallway connects the Solarium with the main BC hallway and lobby.)

The breezeway is off the entry lobby of the villas and also has a door to the pool. (It a two story high room, with a little balcony off the second floor looking into the breezeway room.)

The drawing room (one story) is to the right of the entry and has a nice size tv in it (and chairs and couches for relaxing).

These are all open to the public, however I did see the Solarium room closed for a private function with signs on the door one evening and saw it used for cruise sign up for special guests one day, and the Drawing Room was unofficially taken over on christmas eve by a family opening gifts, which most people left them to do in privacy. But these are usually all nice public areas one can sit and wait for other in, or use for family meeting places or gathering points. The decor is different in each, and very inviting, and relaxing. At least one of the oilpainting pictures in the Solarium depicts the Beach Club villas building. These areas contribute to the BCV's more relaxed feel and offer something over the lobby area of the BWV as the internal waiting area. (although you can go over to the Boardwalk Inn lobby).

In my opinion, pictures don't do the resort justice, it's much better in person. But all of the DVC resorts are probably that way.

Thank you captain for the correction- the map I brought back does not have the rooms labeled so I got the names mixed up! Should have double checked my guidebook!

We own at both places. Have our first 2 contracts at BWV and added on this year to BCV. They both have their unique attractions. We love them both. Regardless, they both have that magic Disney feel to them. You absolutely don't lose out on that when staying at a DVC resort. In fact, I think it is even better knowing you own a piece of the action and will be coming back for many years to come. We splurged earlier this year on the GF for one night for our anniversary before a 5 night stay at OKW. I'll take any of the 1 bdr or bigger rooms at any of the DVC resorts to the GF. I'm certainly glad I got to experience it but now know I'm not missing anything when staying at a DVC resort. We have stayed at VB, as well as OKW, BWV and BCV. Find what suits your travel the bests and you will love it as most of us on these boards do.

<I know you can stay with your points- as long as they don't have a DVC attached to them, but those are the ones I love the most! >

I don't think this is true, you can still book BC & YC, and BWI with your points. Just not the best use of points. One last comment, check out the threads about parking at the BWV resort. It's hard to find a space if you have a car, and especially if you have a valet-averse spouse as I do. (No idea why, I guess he doesn't like to tip). At BCV, parking is more convenient than the valet, almost as accessible as OKW. Diana

Nope, you can't book Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn or Wilderness Lodge with points as they all have DVC properties attached. You CAN still book Yacht Club as the Beach Club Villas are technically connected to the Beach Club.

BWI was never an option and BC and WL resorts were removed at the same time that the Villas of each resort came on board.

I too pondered joining dvc for way too long. I own at BCV and I am in the process of obtaining a small resale package at BWV.

You cannot loose either way.

I like variety and I love to stay at all the disney hotels, if you feel the same way you can use that to work for you to stretch your dvc points and give you more frequent vacations while saving big money.

The formula is simple. 1. purchase annual passes
2. Book dvc sun-thurs save high points of fri sat stays.
3. use annual pass savings (usually 50%)to book your favorite onsite hotel for fri and sat night. this year we splurged on concierge rooms that go for 500+ for 233.

then try out anther dvc resort for the sun-thurs=12night trip. You can stay one week at bcv and one week at bwv!!!

P.S. take your next years trip before the annual pass expires, and pay no admission, and still get ap discounts. This year we project 3 trips out of our annual passes.

that is a great use of points- and the other resorts too. But I still haven't gottan an answer a sto where Eagle Pines is supposed to be!!! Anybody out there know?THANKS EVERYONE for all your help!

The real question is IF it will be but it would be at the golf courses which are near the end of Bonnet Creek Parkway on the road that goes by FW and WL from what I understand. Apparently they've staked it out already then nothing else for ovr a year.

that'd be a great location for another DVC- thanks for the info Dean!

we bought at BCV 2002 and have stayed there 3 times since we bought.......the place is just gorgeous and dont worry about rooms......unless you need a big villa for a reunion ...the go to OKW......we are leaving for hawaii next week on our disney points.......cant wait
