Here are some recent (5/11/01) photos of the construction at Beach Club Villas. They have really made great progress since March and are ahead of schedule.

No...they won't be done by this fall ( :) ), but do appear to be heading toward an "early" 2002 completion. (I'll define "early" as "1st half of the year".

Thanks, Doc, for the photos. I always appreciate the updates you bring to us! Hope you are enjoying your stay. :D

Thanks Doc! I suspect they are throwing all kinds of money at this to speed up the construction... I can't believe they haven't announced the NEXT project after Beach Club :bounce:

Where are the BCV villas being located in relation to the rest of the BC resort? Does anyone know? I mean is it being built was the parking lot was or was there open areas. It has been a while since I was at the BC....

I was there last week too. Judging from the excessive number of tower crains on site, I would say they are throwing lots of money at this project to speed it up (I work as a construction manager--those things aren't cheap to rent!).

Thank you for the pictures!! Look forward to your updates. Your trip is going well I am sure. Hopefully one day our paths will cross with a mini meet.

Where are the BCV villas being located in relation to the rest of the BC resort? Does anyone know?

In the first 3 photos, the BC is on the right side of the pic. The BCV sits where an open lawn used to be- as well as the old bus stop and valet and CM parking lots.

The BCV sits on the side of BC opposite SaB and BW. The BCV pool will be on the side of the construction opposite the photographed side. SE may be viewed easily from any of the rooms which can be seen in these photos. (Also HISTA and JII).

SE= Spaceship Earth. It's a rather large globe-like structure at EPCOT. ;)

It appears that it will be visible from all of the rooms on the side of BCV in the photos. It probably won't be seen from the villas which face the pool (and the original BC).

SE can be seen just above the treeline in the bottom photo on the left side of the canal. The Mickey "Arm" is visible just above the trees.

Thanks Doc. Do you know, is it a fact that BCV owners will ALWAYS be able to use SAB? Or will they have permanent rights only to their own pool, with essentially indeterminate pool hopping privileges at SAB (like other DVC members) This is important for us to know as we are still trying to decide whether to hold out for BCV or try to get a BWV re-sale. Thanks.

Sorry, there is no information about BCV at this time at all.

My assumption is that BCV guests will have use of all BC facilities, just like guests at VWL can use WL facilities.

Enjoy!

Invalid_char,

I agree with Doc.
VWL public offering statement specifically lists the villa pool and hot tub as joint use with the Lodge. Later lists the Lodge feature pool, 2 hot tubs and kiddie pool as joint use with dvc. Would expect the same for BCV along with the coincident end of SAB pool hopping. I cant imagine spending this kind of money at BCV to sit around a quiet pool and daydream about SAB.
I agree that this is a key point to be resolved before anyone would seriously consider purchasing there.

PS. Thanks Doc!

Thank you Doc and Geyser. I agree with you both that SAB privileges are a big draw for BCV. I just want to make sure that it is not a privilege that can be taken away later (like pool-hopping... I know some people who own at BWV who pool hop at SAB and do not realize that that privilege can be taken away.) I also agree with Geyser that the opening of BCV will mark the beginning of the end for pool-hopping. SAB is already SO crowded... I almost don't even see how they will manage with BCV much less other DVCers.

BTW, I don't think even SAB is that great. WDW does not seem to put a lot into resort pools, apparently to keep people in the parks? The resort pool at Atlantis has even more than Typhoon Lagoon has, except the wave pool. (waterfalls, water slides, caves, bubble/fountain kiddy pool, a "beach", a "river" and it's not crowded. The Grand Wailea in Maui has an elevator in the pool which takes you to the top of seven pools connected by slides. There is a bar in one of the "caves" as well. I wish WDW had something like that, but I guess SAB is the best they have. I guess they could do better, but don't want people hanging by the pool all week.... I know this is sort of another subject... sorry.

I agree that the opening of BCV will be the end of SAB pool-hopping for current DVCers. My problem with purchasing at BCV would be the fact that SAB can barely handle just the Yacht and Beach Club guests when full. It's difficult to find a chair at SAB on *any* day after one PM when the temps are over 80 degrees. I think that with the addition of the BCV, Stormalong will no longer be much fun in the warmer weather.
