BCV or VWL?

We stayed at BCV for our last trip and loved everything about it. The decor, location, and the pool. We visited VWL for dinner and also loved it. We are now trying to decide where to stay for our next trip (end of Aug 06). DD will be three at the time so I know we will spend a lot of time at the mk. How is the boat tranportation from VWL to MK? We used the boat a lot at BCV to go over to MGM. So what do you think? Where should we stay and why? Thanks

Although we own at BCV and love it, I'd suggest you stay at VWL on your next trip. Because of the boat, it's much easier to get to and from the MK from there than from BCV. Also the pool is less spread out and easier to watch with a 3-year-old.

Try VWL. I'm sure you will like it. The boat is great! It also goes to Contemporary, which is great for lunch, dinner or shopping. Have fun! :cool1:

VWL. The boat service, though occasionally slow at peak times, has always been fun for my family. And now they have a bus that goes to MK, too. VWL feels a bit cozier and quieter, which we really enjoy after spending a day in a park. We like to stop around 1 - 2 p.m., head back to VWL, and then relax by the pool. There are two pools, but the one closest to the villas is Hidden Springs. It's smaller than the main pool, also quieter, and has its own hot tub area, as well. You can rent surrey bikes and boats right behind the Hidden Springs pool. If you want an evening alone, say at the topnotch Artist Point restaurant, the Cubs' Den is available for your child at a modest cost. We used it with our DD4 last summer, and she loved it. We, meanwhile, feasted on buffalo, salmon, and wine. Try VWL; I think you'll like it. Oh, some have criticized VWL for being too "dark" in terms of color scheme, and it is true that the dark greens, reds, and browns certainly don't evoke the feeling you're in Florida, but that's the point. It's supposed to be more like a northwest lodge in feel, and that Disney has accomplished. Good luck. :paw:

We've stayed at both. It depends on which parks you want to spend more time in. We tend to spend more time at Epcot than at MK (age of the kids plays a big role in that), so the BCV location can not be beat. When we stayed at the VWL (a few years ago), the boat to MK seemed to take longer than I would have expected. We love them both!

We stayed at WL in Dec 2003 for my DDs 3rd birthday. The boat was our favorite and best form of transportation. It was fast and accessible. No complaints. It is our favorite resort in large part because of its proximity to MK and the boat. (of course we loved the decor and the restaurants too)

They're both great!

VWL - the boat in the morning is slow sometimes, so I'd take the bus. When it's not opening/closing then it's great. We were upset when boat after boat in the morning went to pick up FW guests and the boat would be full and then not stop at WL. One day it took over 40min. of waiting to get a boat. Non peak times, I think the longest wait was 15min. The kids crafts in the afternoon at the cub's den are free and lots of fun.

BCV - You can't beat playing in the sand/pool at Sab. The little kid's slide was a hit with my dn4. The kids pool and play area IMHO was much better at BCV and in August you'll need a lot of pool time because it's hot! Bus service was better this August to MK from BCV also.

Either way, you'll have fun

Well, since yo have already done the BCV, why not try the VWL this time? Then you'll have stayed at both and can decide for yourseldf which is more to your liking.

I happen to like both reorts very much. VWL is very cozy...the colors are darker and the landscaping & grounds are very serene...the towering pines and thick foliage really give you the feeling you are secluded, even though you really aren't. The main pool & the DVC pool are both very nice...the main pool can get a bit crowded depending on time of year, but I have never found it to be unbearable. The boat can get crowded at peak times, but you know, I just don't get aggravated about those kinds of things when I am on vacation...I really try to slow my pace down and enjoy my surroundings. There's also some fun stuff that goes on at Fort Wilderness that I think you can access from VWL too. Someone mentioned that the boat stops at the Contemporary, so you can enjoy what they have to offer.

Of course, BCV is beautiful, casual, beachy, you've experienced the pool, walking distnace to 2 parks.

I'd still for vote for trying VWL. That's what I love about the DVC...the diversity of choices!!!!

Well, before I bought into DVC, my response was always AKL!! but now I would say VWL....seems more :snooty: "deluxe" level to me. I have been spoiled by AKL for the past few years, I am probably going to have some withdrawals next oct when we do VWL ... ... cant complain though...DVC is better for me in the long run......but yeah...enough blabbering

VWL gets my vote / unless you dislike sharing busses cause the VWL bus also picks up FWR guests as well ( can get stuffy) ...something about the short walk from BCV to EPCOT tickles me pink! I love EPCOT so maybe I will change my choice !!!

Sorry, I was no help too you!

Good luck with your choice!

As an owner of both BCV and VWL , I would suggest staying at VWL. As you say you plan on going to MK a lot. It will be easier to go to MK in the morning for a few hours and then when you get tired head back to VWL for a rest. Later when you want to head back to the park just hop on the boat again. Also if you want to go to EPCOT take the boat to MK and then hop on the monarail to EPCOT. Its better than taking a bus. Have Fun!
