Going to DW with wife and two kids (13 and 5) in late August 2007 for some relaxation and probably not much time at the parks? If you had your choice, would you stay at Boardwalk or Beach Club?

If SAB appeals to you, BC. (We actually prefer Luna Park - but that has to do with our kids ages). If not, they are very similar resorts. BW is busier.

Note that August is darn close for DVC and its possible both resorts are already booked.

My family prefers BCV and SAB. White sand around and in the pool. The pirate ship slide, Beaches and Cream. SAB is like a mini waterpark.

We have 5 children (age 7-17) & we love BCV. If you stay there, you could always pool hop to BWV (& anywhere else), but you cannot pool hop to BCV.

Aside from the pools, you can't beat either one for location! Hope you have a great trip whatever you decide! :)

How funny! DH, DS (11), DD (5) and I are going at the end of July. I was debating the exact same thing. Landed on BWV and made my ressies yesterday! Since we weren't doing parks either, I thought it would be great to have the evening activity and lots of things to do at the BW. I also have read where the pool is incredible. DD can partially swim, so I'll take her life jacket and the depth of the water won't matter. Some say the water is deep there? :confused3

I'm sure you'll have a great time at either resort! Wouldn't it be great if all of our decisions in life were as tough as deciding which resort to reserve??? Ahhh....

What are the walking distances from each resort to MGM & Epcot?

I couldn't decide either. We loved BCV but would like to try BWV. I could not get a whole week for either place in October. I ended up booking the first three nights at BCV and the last two at BWV. We are doing parks on Monday and Thursday and MNSSHP on Tuesday. Will I regret this?

BWV center to MGM gate: .73 miles
BCV center to MGM gate: 1.26 miles

BWV center to EPCOT International Gateway: .43 miles
BCV center to EPCOT International Gateway: .39 miles

My kids and I, (ages 7 - 21) rented one of the bikes on the Boardwalk and peddled around the BW and BC. It was one of the funnest things we did during our vacation in Dec.! The BW is great for getting Pizza, ice cream, hot dogs, etc. There's enough activity that one does not have to venture to the parks when tired from a long day. The BW has a great tot pool with an elephant that sprays water. Also, the pool is set up in such a way that you could be with your 5 year old in the low end and still eye your 11 year old going on and off the slide. It's definitely not SAB, but for a pool, it is large and fun. I, too, debated between the BW vs. BC for upcoming July trip. I decided on the BW, as last trip was split between the two and I enjoy being able to simply walk out of the lobby and onto the BW for fun. Also, SAB will be soooooooo crowded in the summer; we could barely get a lounge chair by the pool in Dec! I can only imagine what July will be like! In my opinion, your 5 year old should be fine in the water at the BW and enjoy the tot pool also!

You can pick up a lifevest for her at the community hall - they are very nice and it will save you some luggage space.

The water is deep at the BWV - our kids were in lifevests at 4 and 5. At 6 and 7 they could swim well enough to hang on the sides and not need them - they could only stand fairly close to the stairs though.

The water is VERY deep at SAB in spots - namely the lazy river. But the sandbar is a zero entry pool.

We have stayed at both recently and my DS's (12 & 7 at the time) prefer BCV for SAB and Beaches & Cream.

Just curious, have you made your reservation yet? I tried to get one at either for 4 nights and couldn't get into either. I tried a couple of weeks ago because it was last minute, so well after my 7 month window for Aug. 15-19 and two days are weekend days. If you have any plans for either, you need to call and see which one if any is available. I was trying for a 2 bedroom. I do have the BCV reserved for 5 nights starting Aug. 19th, but called day by day at the 7 month window. BTW, my grandson (13) prefers BWV over BCV. He has been to both, but really enjoys the community center at BW and wasn't that wowed by SAB. He said it was too crowded for him and he thought the slide was just so so. (those are his words not mine--I thought SAB was cool, especially the sand bottom).
