BCV Member discount (cash BCV reservation)?

Hi everyone! I have just one more question for now! As some of you know, I have a cousin who is a BCV owner, and I have been invited to stay with them while they are at WDW. I was thinking about bringing someone along with me, and I really wouldn't want to take up a bunch of space in my cousin's room. I heard before that DVC members get discounts on DVC rooms when they pay cash for the nights. Can my DVC Member cousin book a room in her name for my friend and I at BCV, for just a portion (a weekend in the middle) of their stay at BCV?

I don't know the answer to your question, however...

Depending on when you are planning to go, you may not be able to get a cash reservation at BCV. If you can, there may not be a DVC discount available. If there is, it may not be a terribly good discount. (These rooms have high rack rates.)

You can try to get a cash reservation at BCV yourself, and depending on conditions, you may (or may not) get as good a rate as a DVC member, or better.

If you are traveling Oct, Nov, or Dec of 2002, there are terrific rates available at the Yacht Club and Beach Club that are likely to be much lower than any rate you can get at BCV. It's worth considering.

Your cousin could book the room in her name and would have to be there at check-in. Although there maybe a problem because I think the member has to occupy the room and if she's already checked into another room, they may not allow it. The member discount can be difficult to get. The member discount is 25%, often there are better discounts out there. If you will be there over a weekend, it probably wouldn't make sense to rent points.

MS told me that we (DVC member) can only get the room at the discounted cash price if we are actually staying in that room.

That is correct. Depending on the room sizes in question, there may be other ways to work it out. Maybe your cousin could get a larger unit and you pay the difference. You might get as good or a better deal through CRO anyway.

Yes the member has to be staying in the room. There is even a detailed example of how this would work when booking multiple rooms. The discount is 25% off rack rate so you might be able to do better with a code anyway.

I would discuss with your cousin that you want to bring along someone. They invited you on the trip. An extra person is an extra person throughout the trip, not just where you are sleeping. Let them decide if they are comfortable with you bringing a friend. They may actually think it's a good idea but it's rude to just assume it's okay.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to see what my options would be. And, Pam, I do realize that it would have to be okay with my cousin to bring someone along. She would definetly tell me if it was okay with her or not, she isn't afraid to voice her opinion.

My parents might even end up going along, too. If that's the case, I'd just stay with them anyways.
