Once again it's play around with my points time LOL

I have our June trip on my brain and am leaning towards BCV again. It would require a bit of resort hopping, but everyone in my group thinks its a great plan.

This is current... Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat nights - Jambo Sun, Mon nights SSR. My intention was to add Tues to SSR too.

Today's idea.... Thur, Fri nights SSR , Sat night Jambo , Sun Mon Tues nights BCV!

Does today's idea sound doable? I could call today and move SSR to the front and keep one night only at Jambo. How likely would I be able to get the rest of the days at BCV at the 7 month window? It would be a 2 bedroom.

Should I wait until November...see if BCV is a go..then move around SSR? That way if it's not...I still have everything in tact like it stands now. :confused3

If I am reading correctly, you are thinking about 3 resorts in 6 nights? No way I would do that voluntarily. We only switch resorts after a week's stay at one resort- after our last several split stays of not getting our new villa until close to 5:00. We hate being homeless on moving days, and the endless packing/moving/unpacking. We like to unpack and feel like we are truly on vacation at our home away from home.

I would book my home resort now, and then see if BCV is available at the 7 month mark, and get all nights there. I own at BCV, but have been able to extend my vacation at the 7 month mark for early June using other points.

I know some like to resort hop but we are like the previous poster....we like to move in unpack get groceries and stay put......but if everyone in your party is ok with moving 3 times then go for it
We were able to get a 2nd at BCV this year for our stay from 9/28 to 10/2:banana:

I wish we could stay at BCV the whole week, but I don't have enough points. The reason I have us at Jambo on Sat. night is because the value villa is only 39 points! 43, 50, 39, 48, 48, 48 = 276 works for us! 48, 55, 55, 48, 48, 48 = 302

Hopefully it will all work out. We've resort hopped in the past with great success! My mom really likes the idea because she's never been to any of the those resorts so she'd get a little taste of each of them! The bulk of time would be BCV which is great because stormalong bay in June is a no brainer! I'm going to continue to play around with the points and see if I can get it down to two resorts. My parents are joining us and have their hearts set on SSR so that's a must do! If nothing else works, we can go ahead and add the 7th night onto SSR and have a 2 resort split stay as currently planned. :goodvibes

I was doing the same thing as you for our trip next May...trying to figure out how to do a 2 bd & a studio...not knowing what resorts & views will be available at the 7 mo window. If we can get BWV standard view, we'll be OK. I was thinking about doing a split stay if needed but it was getting so complicated I decided we would just buy the one time use points. Depending on the view that's available, we might still be short a few points but if that happens we'll just pay cash for 1 nt of the studio. I'll be able to book it next Sat so I'm hoping everything works out. I wouldn't mind a split stay...only 2 resorts though. My daughter has small children & would rather not move. We even thought about buying 25 add on points but the whole family doesn't go that often so normally we have enough points.

I hope you can get everything you want when you call! :lovestruc

UPDATE- After looking at the calendar and the point charts I have a new plan! We were going to originally arrive on Wednesday the 13th since it's by birthday and the 14th is my dauther's 12th birthday. Well we talked it over and both decided we can still celebrate our bdays even if we arrive on Sunday instead. This way I can hopefully do a split stay with only 2 resorts and take out Jambo.

Here's the hope... 3 nights SSR then 3 nights BCV! a perfect split stay. Now I need some November pixie dust! :wizard:
oops and I need to talk it over with my parents since they are joining us..hopefully the new travel dates can work for them too!

I think 2 resorts over 6 nights is much better than 3 - my wife went nuts when we had to switch resorts.

Something to think about - if some people in your party want to see some of the other resorts you should book a meal there and walk around. Just being at a resort for 1 night won't give you much more time to explore than if you go for a meal.

Our crew likes to stay where we are planted. I like to get set up and stay and do not like being "homeless" on the switching day. If your group does not mind, then go for it!

We just did a point transfer through the Timeshare Store yesterday. I had read that they seldom do small amount transfers but some have posted here that they've been able to do it. We contacted them about a week ago & hadn't heard back & were giving up on that idea. Yesterday we got an e-mail that they had 50 pnts so we had them transferred...it was more than we needed but now we won't have to borrow all of 2013 pnts. Now we have enough to book anything that's available...except a GV. If you're still short on points, you might look into it. Even the 24 one time use points would've been a few points short for some of the higher point views, but with the pnt transfer we have plenty...I can't wait until tomorrow when the 7 mo window opens!

Good luck on your trip planning!

Do you mind saying how much did they charge per point for the 50 pt transfer?

1 move is definitely better than 2, we did a 2 move over 12 days and it was too much. As owners there is no reason to move other than lack of availability. You will have plenty of time to stay at all of the DVC resorts during your ownership.

I didn't know you could get some points transferred from them! Thanks for the news! Is it a better price then DVC's $15 per one time point?

Thanks Bill

With the one night in Jambo, you are sort of "homeless" until your room is ready after only a one night stay. I don't mind resort hopping but prefer to stay put at least a couple of days. Hope your plan works out and you get what you want.:thumbsup2

I read about it here. They don't mention it on their website...could be because it's not supposed to be done...which makes me a little uneasy. I called them & it was all handled through e-mail...seemed safe. They charge $12 a point which isn't much less than the DVC one time use points but if you need more than 24 points it helps out. If you're booking at 7 mo it makes it easier for them to find what you need since the points can be at any resort.

But those points you got retained their original use year correct since they were transferred? Did it work out ok for you?

Yes they retained their Sept use year which was fine for us since we couldn't book until Oct 1st. I just booked this morning & after all the stressing out over points, BWV standard view was available in both the studio & 2 bed, so we didn't even need the transferred pnts. We decided to splurge & used 33 pnts to get preferred view since we already transferred them... I hope it's worth it. Plus we didn't have to borrow all of our 2013 pnts so now we won't be totally pointless in 2013. So, yes, everything worked out great. Good luck to you!

Thanks GranJan! I really appreciate your info. I had wished DVC allowed the one time use points at the 11 month window. Your idea solves that problem for me!
